s well known that it causes extra pyramidal effect that is one of the side effects of risperidone, but about tardive dyskinia if you meant by TD, I think antipsychotics at this dose have to be taken for a long time.

BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. There's probably no answer to this question, since nobody's researched the long-term effects of most medications. It sounds unlikely, though, and since you'll probably never find an answer, I'd just forget it and move on. You are who you are now. You can always see a doctor and get checked for all the things that affect growth, but I'd bet it all comes out normal. And there's no way to tell all the genetic influences on you just by looking at others in your family.

hello doc, im 28yrs female,i was diagnosed with paranoid psychosis 3yrs ago and has been on medication RISPERIDONE 2mg and AMISULPRIDE50mg since then.i have amenorrhea and high prolactin levels im taking treatment with Cabergoline0.5mg,now im getting my menstrual cycle but diagnosed with PCOD so im on METFORMIN 850mg.how long shd i take these antipsychotics,im planning to get pregnant.i heard tht Risperidone is not save during pregnancy plz advise me? Just like I was prescribed Trazodone and that is my sleeping pill. BUT this third one I take at night is Risperidone which is the substitute of Risperdal. Can someone PLEASE tell me what Risperdal/Risperidone is for? My doctors were sort of unclear about it and since I was more concerned with getting out of the mental hospital I was in, I forgot to ask them to repeat themselves. Do take a look at the many side effects of Risperidone. I do not know your daughters age, but it is not recommended below certain age levels. Hopefully this is a psychiatrist that prescribed this med. and not a general md? If you have any more questions please post.

As you know I live with the long term side effects of current antipsychotics (the extent I do though is statistically rare and under clinical study) but as I have schizoaffective disorder I needed them and what I currently am on is clinical study so its a risk albeit one acceptable to me as its supervised by researchers. I'm recovering from an abscessed tooth. Mine developed 3 weeks ago and 2 days lator I had to have an Endodonist drain it on an emergency basis because the swelling was already moving up to my eye. I was told to get the tooth extracted because of my medical condition (Type 1 Diabetic). After I got it drained my dentist put me on 4,000mg of Amoxicillin a day becasue I had to get rid of the infection and the swelling had to continue to go down before he extracted the tooth.
