risperidone how does it work

I took it for a while and was surprised at how quick it worked. There were aspects of it that made me stop taking it but it was mostly just that I couldn't really tolerate it with the Seroquel. I decided to let it go instead of the Seroquel. It is a great medicine though for most and I am glad that it is improving the quality of your life. Are you still going to stay on a low dose of Seroquel or ccome off of it completely?

I tell you what, there's no way in hell that the crap in risperdal / risperidone left my body in 5 days! It took about 8 months of hardcore cardio exercise for me to purge this poison from my system. I would sweat so much after I tapered off of this, and it would smell like putrid chemicals, and definitely not something that would ever come from a human being.. Please NEVER take this stuff unless you want to be chemically lobotomized..

It should give you a boost or make you feel energized rather than lethargic due to the increased norepinephrine plasma levels. This does not make you gain weight either. See how it goes and maybe you will be able to eliminate your antidepressant or at least decrease it.

Notify your doctor right away. It does sound like it might be an overdose. Usually, you have to taper off of risperdone (ie. don't suddenly stop it), but not sure if this is true if she has only been on it 2 days. On a more personal note, after years on this forum, I do not like the use of Risperidone except in extreme cases. It has many side effects and there are other meds that can work as well. Do take a look at the many side effects of Risperidone.

My question is on tapering risperidone how long does one need to taper risperidone from a dose of 1mg to 0.5mg in days or weeks?.

I didn't understand how to read it, like what did the DDD stand for? I may of missed something.

Does stopping Risperidone give rise to a withdrawal reaction?.If so what are the symptoms?.

She has only been on the serequel 2 days and it is not helping. The risperidone was stopped immediately because of weight gain. I need some suggestions on what we can do. HELP! I am tired of getting beat up, and I especially feel very bad for her because she cannot communicate with me how she is feeling. I feel like maybe we should go back to the risperidone even though she gains weight and even though she was still aggressive. It wasn't as bad as it is now.

indeed it can, so i would say it's completely normal to encounter insomnia by tapering off from risperidone and this should automatically applies to seroquel, and the rest of the antipsychotics.

Thank you so much for your help.My doc prescribet Mirtazapine(remeron) and Risperidone but said you can take xanax as you need.So my desicion is to stay on Mirtazapine and Xanax because Risperidone its an anti psychotic to treat schitzophrenia,and my diagnose is Panic anxiety diaorder so I think these two meds are good to treat my anxiety.I stop Risperidone because after about three weeks of taking it,it just made me feel sucidal.

Never worked for me but, it does for some so definitely worth a try.

I am starting the slimfast program tomorrow. My question is does it really work? I am also in a wheel chair..But i do get my legs walking 1 or 2 hours a day .

I did it and it was right about me having a girl amd my hair dresser did it and it was right for her having a boy...

Little history, so I was diagnosed with ptsd, bipolar, and anxiety with agoraphobia. My pcp gave me risperidone 2mg and hydroyzine 25mg (3 times daily or as needed). I told my psych I didn't want the risperidone because of already existing obesity issues and I told her the hydroy was just drying out my nose and making me feel like I had a sinus infection all the time. So she gives me ativan 0.5mg (one a day), Prazosin 2 ( 1 @ night).

I can vouch for the fact that Risperidone can cause anxiety as I myself have had it due to which I am being tapered from it.Presently I am on 1 mg and after 12 days on 0.5 mg and then two weeks later will be off it.How much is the dose are you on?.It causes dysphoria at higher doses of 3 mg or more.

The psychiatrist has now put Glen (16) ASD on prozac (20ml liquid) once a day alongside his 1mg twice a day risperidone (was on 2mg twice daily but had to cut it down due to Glen becoming constipated). Glen's anxiety is still sky high on the risperidone, been on it nearly 8 weeks so she thought she would try prozac as well. Do you think the prozac will help my son?

My four year old grandchild/fosterchild has been to the doctor and now take meds for ADHD. Frist was riddelen that did not work at all. New medication is Risperidone. No change has been noticed. This child before meds was pooping and peeing on her bedroom floor and even after meds. Im at my end and dont understand this kind of behavior.
