finger

Avatar m tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred to chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. Repeated clicking of mouse of computer can injure the tendon of index, cause compression of median nerve and also cause this numbness. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the pain and swelling in the finger can be due to pulp space infection or traumatic arthritis. If there is throbbing type of pain suggests pus formation. This may not be due to allergy. The plain radiograph will help to rule out pathology. Finger splint may be needed to give an absolute rest to the finger. Pain killers with anti-inflammatory activity will helps to reduce the inflammation and antibiotics to control infection, against prescription.
Avatar n tn Back in March I was holding a little girl that was standing on my lap and she lost her balance and squatted down. My hand was behind her knee and my right index finger popped and then hurt really bad for awhile. I assumed it would go away and it didn't. A few days later I went to urgent care. They took x-rays and saw nothing and told me to take ibuprofen and continue to use it like normal.
Avatar m tn I injured my right index fingertip at work several months ago and am still not able to use it due to burning pain. X-ray showed no bone damage, but can feel a lump where my finger got pinched. I think I injured the nerve. What are my treatment options.
Avatar m tn s no swelling. My wrist pops easily. The central knuckles of my index finger, middle finger and ring finger all hurt. The index finger also hurt a few days at the base, but stopped. I have a doctor's appointment on the 7th. Sorry for the repeated posts; just a little worried and the appointment seems so far away. If you were me, what you lean closer to? Arthritis or tendonitis?
Avatar f tn Now a week later I am having lots of pain in my right hand. The pain goes from the spot where the needle was to my thumb, index, and middle finger. Should I be seen by a doctor for this?
Avatar n tn My right index finger has been swollen for a month now. the knuckle is painful to the touch, but i'm able to bend it. Any ideas what it could be?? Thanks for any help!
Avatar f tn Which part of the finger is painful and does it affect both hands? Aside from the finger pain, what other symptoms are present? Finger pain is pain may be attributed to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, injury, blood flow problems, nerve problems and even from conditions such as diabetes. Try to avoid activities that cause or worsen pain. Anti-inflammatory medication can also help. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I took a puck off of my right index finger and didn't really notice any immediate pain. Over the next couple days I noticed that I couldn't form a fist because my finger was very swollen and hurt to bend that far. Upon further observation I noticed that my first finger knuckle had become very wide, but the rest of my finger remained regular size. It is also very sensitive to touch.
Avatar f tn I am 16 and for about 3 months I've had a bad pain in my right index finger. It started in the base knuckle near my palm. 2 weeks ago the pain gradually started to move up my finger. It starts to hurt during everyday activities like brushing my hair, taking off caps to bottles/jars, and mostly anything that requires force used by the fingers. The pain also occurs randomly, mostly in the evening and at night.
Avatar m tn I am having pain in my Right index finger (knuckle) for almost two months now. I don't have any swelling, warmth, or redness around the site. Could it be related to the distal radius fracture surgery which I had one year back on my Left hand. Thanking you in advance for your highly valued advise.
Avatar f tn It depends on where the pain and numbness is. There is a cause of numbness of the index finger and middle finger called carpal tunnel syndrome. It usually also has sensory changes of the palm at the thumb, index and middle fingers, and the ring finger on the side near the middle finger. I am not sure if you have these other features or not, but I will elaborate on this. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a compression/entrapment syndrome of the median nerve at the wrist.
Avatar m tn My index finger has chronic pain when it is exposed to cold temps. or if my circulation is lessened in that arm. It's just that finger and only at the finger nail, cuticle area. The feeling is similar to getting it smashed into something. Also, when no pain is present, if I hit it ever so slightly on something, it might as well have been smashed in a door, the feeling would be the same!
Avatar n tn Not sure this is the right category. I didn't see jaw problems forum. I have pain just underneath my jaw bone left side. I thought it was a tooth causing the problem but, it turns out to be underneath the jaw bone. The pain isn't constant but, if i push up there with my index finger it is pretty painful. Is this something to be worried about???
Avatar n tn ve had a digital mucous cyst on my right index finger (which was removed surgically but is back almost as big). Both of these fingers have large bumps or swellings on them at the joint closest to the fingernail. The left one that's been hurting so much seems to be very slightly redder than usual and a tiny bit swollen, but nothing else really looks abnormal. It's getting harder to use the left index finger for much of anything (including typing) without increasing the pain.
Avatar m tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred chest, inner lining of scapula, shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. When this muscle shortens, this can press on brachial plexus and the subclavian artery and can compress or irritate these structures and cause symptoms such as abnormal sensation, cold extremity, claudication (spasms), and lymphedema in the involved extremity.
Avatar n tn Do you have numbness of the index finger along with the pain? if yes, it could be carpal tunnel syndrome as it involves index finger mainly. Another possibility is of Raynaud’s phenomenon which is constriction of the blood vessels of the fingers and toes. But it is accompanied by skin color changes. Apply ice compresses over the finger. You can also take OTC pain killers. They should help. Also get your blood sugar levels evaluated.
Avatar m tn This then presses on the nerve which then causes a pain or tightness right up to the elbow. Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and key pad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between helps. A wrist support or arm support too helps and you have computer chairs with support for your spine and arm.
Avatar m tn Another stripper was in bikini bottom--I placed my finger on the bikini material (which was wet with her fluids) with right index finger and middle finger and pressed (over clothing material), into the vagina for approximately two seconds. I had clipped my fingernails that day very short where the pink pigmentation was somewhat showing- the finger was sore the next day from clipping so short. There was no blood or cracks (on finger) that I am aware of.
645800 tn?1466860955 But the index finger is only about 20% of the strength of my left index finger. I had figured the right side was weaker since that is where most of my MS symptoms are. But 50% almost floored me with shock. She also tested me with a task of picking up peg and placing them in holes and then taking the pegs out of the holes and putting them back in the tray. Again using my left hand was twice the speed of my right hand. While doing this she noticed my hand tremors very easily.
1090905 tn?1256855303 t really make a fist or hold a glass. (Index finger is fine??) And NOw in the last hour or so the left Index and Middle fingers are going the same way...that arm has had the Ulnar Nerve transposed 8 yrs ago ... I have had a wonky neck due to the whole recovery process from the brain tumor-took several years to just get to 85% on the right side of my body, I came of of surgery with no use of the right side of my body but DID NOT have a stoke.
