Requip vs mirapex

Common Questions and Answers about Requip vs mirapex

requip

Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar f tn My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
487070 tn?1313665952 Sinemet, Mirapex, Requip and Neurontin. All helped for a while but needed increasing doses and the side effects and augmentation became intolerable. I now use a TENS Unit before bedtime, and it has done as well for me as the meds after their initial usefulness waned. I was on so many meds that made me nauseous I wasn't sure which caused what. But I puked a lot for a while. Somehow I guess I became more tolerant because it did nearly stop. Maybe your body will adjust too.
398059 tn?1447945633 Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your feedback. We would also love it if doctors would give out MedHelp's URL to their patients to help track symptoms. Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review. We could easily add Restless Legs as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment to the Sleep Tracker. Would that work for you?
Avatar f tn I too have been on both of these meds and have had similar issues. Have you been on Sinemet yet? Requip and Mirapex are dopamine agonists, but Sinemet is a dopamine replacement and is best reserved for when the agonists no longer work. SinemetCR worked for me for a few years before the side effects outweighed the decreasing benefits. It's more complicated to optimize it's effectiveness, as one is best served to consider the timing, volume and content of their meals.
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
Avatar f tn But waht i wanted to comment was something i read here from a poster about some meds for RLS... mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex.
1182133 tn?1266851531 s 0436, day 7 no vics and I did sleep about 6 hours, but I take 1mg klonopin every night for fibro and I take mirapex for RLS -- the vicodin also helps with RLS but the mirapex works better I promise...I get it in my legs, hips and arms and I just want to scream.......see if you can get some samples of that or requip bcuz even with insurance they are expensive. You can get through it - it will get better, oh, just remembered...mirapex.
230948 tn?1235844329 hi,i have taken requip and i am taking mirapex...mirapex beats requip by a mile...mirapix is really good ...i sound like a comercial..lol...take care ...
539156 tn?1281818356 I have used various medications over the years to help control it. Requip, Valium and now Klonopin. The Requip made me sick, the Valium did nothing, the Klonopin used to work great and now has not affect at all. I even have the restless feelings in my arms now. It's abolutely awful. My Neurologist says that the majority of patients that she sees with MS do complain about having RLS. RLS is also seen in the population without any other Neurological problems.
Avatar f tn and suddenly started having problems? If my sleep study confirms the RLS, and I start mirapex or something similiar... please.... someone tell me it cured them. I love my job, my husband, and my kids.... I'm so afraid the fatigue is going to interfere with the poeple and things I love.
667261 tn?1225473853 Hi, I also have RLS I was diagnosed about 4 years ago with it, at that time they did not have requip or mirapex, so they put me on Klonopin 2mg to start. I am now up to 3, 2mg pills per night. The Klonopin works great for my RLS, even if I take it during the day it does not make me drowsy. However it is very addicting, but at the time it was either take the RX for that or never sleep. I would research it on the net and talk to your doc about it.
Avatar n tn Hi Laura, Mirapex is the name of the drug, combined with Ambien CR. While one of my friends made a negative comment about this, I say only this, we are not doctors so I am going with their advice. I got back up from my normal Endo and he told me my weight is dropping now that the thyroid is medicated properly but sleep could have been effecting my weight as well. I was not eating more, but he said when you don't sleep your hormones get mixed up causing weight around the middle.
Avatar m tn There can be withdrawal dyskinesia after stopping Ability but after two months if it has not gone away tardive dyskinesia should be ruled out. Tardive dyskinesia is generally treated with Mirapex, Bachlophen, Requip, Aricept and Botox injections for focal dystonia. Zofran has been shown to work experimentally as well as the natural remedy rhodiola (when taken under the supervision of a neurologist).
1289458 tn?1271972463 Recent studies have shown that vitamin e is of limited help. Known treatments include Bachlofen, Requip, Aricept and Mirapex. Botox injections are often used for specific focal dystonic spasms. More experimental treatments include tetrobenzine and Zofran. The Catapres application that I use can be helpful depending on the extent and variation of the type of spasms. The natural remedy rhodiola when supervised by a neurologist can be of help.
Avatar f tn Over the last 3 years I have been to many doctors and still do not have a diagnosis for my back problems. When I sit for more than a few minutes, are get a lot of pain in my lower back and buttocks, it goes down my legs and into my feet with severe pain and spasms. I must stand. I often have to jump from foot to foot for quite a while because the pain is so intense. Of late when I stand, it feel like the bones in my feet and ankes are broken and it is hard to get my legs going.
405614 tn?1329144114 i have bad rls oh my i tell you i have tried every thing and the only thing that gives me relief is mirapex ...its a god send many many nites i would be moving my legs so bad i would cry ...but not anymore thank god....take care of yourself....((((((hugs)))))....
1591337 tn?1297101349 Well, this sounds alot like restless leg syndrome, and they have other meds for this like Requip, ask your MD about this and if your symptoms sound like you have this and you can start to sleep better! Good Luck!
749148 tn?1302860959 hands... she prescribed Mirapex. I have not started it yet and wondered if anyone out there is using this medication and what your thoughts are. She recommended a TENS unit for the rib pain I guess it's caused from a miss-firing message between my spinal cord and my brain, even though no lesions showed on my thoracic MRI doesn't mean they are not there...hummmm.
Avatar n tn More commonly used treatments include Bachlophen. Aricept, Requip, Symmetryl and Mirapex. I was not tried on Xenazine which can be used due to the risk of depression but that has shown to be helpful. Botox injections can be used depending if the spasmic activity is localized. I am on the Catapres application which has shown to be helpful. The medication Zofran has shown to be of use in clinical study and was helpful for me.
689327 tn?1240229164 I have RLS I take Mirapex, which is prescribed. there is an otc hylands restful leg that I have heard works. Some one else said to wrap your legs in ace bandages. hot hot baths. good luck, hope you find some relief soon.
Avatar n tn I have tardive dyskinesia which is clinically similar to Parkinson's and I have tardive akathesia which is similar to restless legs syndrome but it would depend on the cause of it. If its clinically similar to Parkinson's, I did not find Bachlophen, Mirapex, Aricept and Requip to be of help but many people do. I was ruled out for Tetrabenzene and Namenda but those have shown to be of help.
372680 tn?1228161610 Hi I was on lyrica for year and an half from 75mg to 600 mg.
