Right now i am only taking Relpax for migraines. I have a headache almost everyday of the week and a migraine 2-3 times per month. I only take the Relpax during my migraines and may take tylenol, ibuprofen, or excedrin for my headace without any relief. My MD had spoken with me about taking medicine daily to prevent the occurence of my migraines. I really do not want to take another daily med because I want to have a baby in the next couple of years.

m now on a daily preventative med, I have relpax for rescue, darvocette for xtra rescue, and on botox inj. The weird symptoms or alerts of one coming are these - I don't know if this is inappropriate to ask, but do a lot of you experience these as well; my head starts really itching; also whichever side the headbanger is going to throb on, blood will be present in that nostril. Not a full-blown nosebleed, but blood. Auras yes, and sparklies.

Or do you use a Triptan for acute migraine, like zomig, maxalt, amerge? There are many listed on the forum, under which Triptans doe you use, and Happy with Preventative treatment......... Sorry you ar suffering so much. It sounds like you need to get with your Dr and get on some treatment for these....if you haven't already. Or even be referred to a migraine specialist.........

My 18 year old son has terrible migraines and has tried the Imitrex also with terrible results. He has been using the Relpax and within 20 to 30 mins and only one Relpax pill the headache is gone! He suffered so many years wiht Migraines and now with his dose of Nortriptylin and his relpax as a backup he is living headache free. Definitely try the Relpax.

Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.

Mostly I stick with my Zomig and for the majority of my migraines and the Zomig works. It tends to only be the migraines that wake me up that the zomig just won't work for. Or, sometimes if a migraine comes back on the same day, a second dose of zomig won't work to get rid of it either and it will be much more severe when it comes back. Although, really, over-all, the zomig works the majority of the time.

I have been taking Relpax 40 ml for the coming on of a migraine. I have been getting fewer and fewer over the years. However, I am only allowed 9 pills for the month thru my health insurance. Is there another new migraine medicine out there that I could get that would be similier but would allow me more pills for the month.

I have been put on and off multiple medications(Topamax, Naproxen, Imitrex, Furicet, Relpax, Pamelor, Melt Max, Zomig, Verampil, Perocet, Nuban and Fenergen injections and even nerve blocker shots in my head) I am cutting almost all my meds out and trying to just deal to see if I will get better after the medications are out of my system, at least that is what one neurologist says and the other just gives me more meds and tells me to keep going to the ER.

Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...Anyway, I'd seriously think of giving Relpax a shot as I was for sure it wouldn't work and it did wonders.

After some time of taking zomig nearly everyday I had to resort to syndol again. The side effects of zomig are not pleasant at all and drain all my energy and are too expensive to take everyday. The syndol seemed to be working but after a while they kind of stopped working again but was again addicted. I have lost hope of my headache problem ever being solved. I cannot stand all this pain and drugs. One way or another I feel sick all times of the day with no exaggeration whatsoever.

What about Aleve, indomethacin, and the triptans (Zomig, Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax) in the event that I do end up getting a migraine during this time? I was told I could take tylenol, not that it would dent one of my headaches. I asked the audiologists office but apparently they forgot to ask and now the audiologist is out of town. Headache on left front side with a crazy visual aura, took zomig, hour later took ibuprofen 600, albuterol sulfate and Ritalin. Cold and hot feeling across skin, mostly on right side, nausea, joint pain, burning pain in abdomen and chest, dizzy, tired and short of breath. Migrating sharp pains across body. Ringing ears. Vision is unnaturally blurry. Chest and stomach symptoms worsen when laying down, head symptoms worsen when standing up.

These are things like Imitrex, Zomig, Relpax, etc. If you take one at the first sign of a migraine they can often head it off at the pass. They also can treat other symptoms that accompany migraine: sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, etc. I hope that you find a good doctor and that you find some good relief.

I too suffer from migraines, but a bit more frequently than you. The first med I tried was Imitrex, which made me very sick to my stomach. I couldn't keep it down. I tried Frova, which just didn't work. Then I tried Relpax, and that was the ticket. Keep in mind that all 3 are triptans, but that doesn't mean they are the same either. The Relpax I take makes me incredibly tired, but not sick to my stomach, and it takes care of the migraine within 30 mins.

I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs. Although, everyone is different and all of the triptans on the market have been proven effective in clinical trials, so please discuss with the doctor in the clinic which triptan would be the most appropriate in your situation. Although, if you want to go in suggesting something...
