Relpax imitrex

Common Questions and Answers about Relpax imitrex

relpax

Avatar n tn I have the EXACT same thing. I've tried Imitrex tablets (no help since I threw them up), Imitrex Nasel Spray (once again, no help because I threw it up), Imitrex Injection (have you tried this? I couldn't keep taking because of an allergic reaction). Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...
Avatar f tn I had a similar problem with Maxalt (a drug in the same class as Relpax-they are both triptans). My insurance would only cover 12 pills, and I need more. My doctor filled out the necessary paperwork for my insurance co., saying I need more than "typically alotted". The pharmacy division of your insurance co. can give you more info. If that's not possible, have you tried another triptan? Maxalt, Imitrex, and Relpax all work for my migraines. Good luck!
1508698 tn?1360215710 hi sorry you are having the headaches...i used to get them as well....luckily i haven't had one in a long time....i've read that Imitrex isn't a narcotic so maybe ask about that?? i don't know anything about it, never taken it but a friend of mine did....and when i had them, i took Excedrin Migraine..otc...it seemed to help. hope you feel better soon!!
Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
507619 tn?1211845850 i had been a migraine sufferer for 20 years....there are very specific migraine meds out there if you have TRUE migraines (imitrex, relpax, all that kinda stuff)....i got started on the hydros due to chronic daily tension headaches but never really used the hydros for my migraines....only used the prescribed migraine med....just don't try to convince yourself that the codeine/hydros are working to take away your migraines....cuz they really aren't....that's what all the imitrex, etc.
Avatar f tn Thanks for replying, I have not had imitrex before but have had relpax and fioricet for migraine attacks in the past. And yes, the pain med has nothing to do with the migraine, but for a plethora of other issue....I only mentioned it as that was why I did not think to ask about why they were increasing my dose on the new med. I fully understand about the Tylenol concerns and trust their treatment plan for me.
1088430 tn?1259159773 But, he was so nice to volunteer a whole box of samples of not only relpax, but max(something) dissolves in your mouth. Also, he gave me a new RX for Imitrex since they have a generic and it'll only cost me $5 now to refill instead of a $50 co-pay! He's the NICEST doctor I've ever seen! Thanks again for the info! The botox thing interests me (: Not sure how it works in Canada. But, have you heard of cranial sacral massage? I was researching alt. migraine stuff and found the info.
Avatar f tn I had a rebound effect from the Imitrex. I have had better luck alternating the meds....Imitrex for one then Relpax for example. I also had better results with Axert and Frova which I also alternated to avoid the rebound problem. I have taken Topamax for a long time with great success as long as the dose is carefully monitored (I monitor the dose and keep close track of side effects).
Avatar f tn My husband was perscribed Cymbalta along with Imitrex and Relpax for migranes. He went into a coma and had to be on a respirator in ICU for 3 days. Is this seretonin syndrome? The doctor claimed it was just a coma brought on by an intese migrane! Weird, Huh?
397977 tn?1201264847 It worked for a while but then like everything else, its not helping any longer. After the Imitrex, I tried Maxualt and Relpax. They both use to work. When Maxualt didn't, the Relpax would but now those don't even work. Plus, the Relpax is expensive. It cost like $10 a pill WITH INSURANCE! I really think my problem is hormonal since they are really bad during that time of the month. I have headaches most of the month but I can deal with them.
Avatar f tn ve taken all kinds of different medications (imitrex, zomig, etc.), but once my Dr. finally put me on Relpax (40mg) it started to help. However, I have to take the Relpax with two excedrine migrane capsules at the onset of the aura or I am down for the next few days. It also generally helps if I sleep. Hope this helps!
1577473 tn?1296177286 Hello, I am a 21 year old college student and I have had the occasional migraine all my life. In September I started getting migraines more frequently. I had a really nasty one that forced me to go to a walk in clinic for some immediate care. I got a shot of Torridol that didn't work and a prescription for 100 mg Imitrex. The Imitrex didn't even touch the migraine and I wasn't happy with the side effects.
Avatar n tn I've had what the doctors call cluster migraines for about 15 years. I've been many times to the doctor, although when I was younger they said there was no pills for this type of thing. They will come often, mostly a constant pressure that will build up now and again for weeks or months at a time, with short reprieves for a month or two.
1034911 tn?1389546066 Hello. I've suffered from daily headaches for over 10 years now and have been under the supervision of a neurologist, who hasn't always been the easiest to get into visit. Last week, I saw a new one and in desperation, I FINALLY took his advice to detox from Excedrin Tension that I have been usually on a daily basis for those "annoying" headaches that I wake up with.
Avatar n tn Gabapentin and Lyrica are used for neuropathic tingling/numbness and pain; Cymbalta is a good one to help headaches plus Imitrex, Relpax, Topamax (migraine meds). I hope this will be of help to you.

655875 tn?1295695107 The drug of choice however are triptans such as Sumatriptan (Imitrex), rizatriptan (Maxalt), naratriptan (Amerge), zolmitriptan (Zomig), almotriptan (Axert), frovatriptan (Frova) and eletriptan (Relpax). Hormone therapy may help some women whose migraines seem to be linked to their menstrual cycle. Other alternatives include stress management strategies, such as exercise, relaxation, and biofeedback may also reduce the occurrence and severity of migraine attacks.
Avatar f tn The Frova is starting not to have an effect and Imitrex injection works. What would cause me to continually wake up early mornings with pounding migraines. I don't have and endless supply of medicine. Does any one have an opinion what is going on? I have a very good diet and don't drink..please advise........
Avatar f tn Tripans are the only True migraine drug. Try Relpax and Keep imitrex. I rotate between both but do not take within 24 hours of one another. always have ibuprofen which is for inflammation. Get tested for celiac disease and diabetes and have an mri but not too often if they find nothing. check your eyes teeth and control allergies. switch to raw food diet.
Avatar m tn These are things like Imitrex, Zomig, Relpax, etc. If you take one at the first sign of a migraine they can often head it off at the pass. They also can treat other symptoms that accompany migraine: sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, etc. I hope that you find a good doctor and that you find some good relief.
Avatar f tn Soon after, she began to experience migraines once a month just before the start of her period. She tried many different prescription medications including Imitrex, which provided some but not complete relief. About 8 years ago, she underwent a hysterectomy, which she hoped would alleviate her migraine pain since they seemed to be related to her menstrual cycle. However, her migraines persist in a similar pattern occuring almost every month. She is not taking any hormone therapy.
Avatar f tn My head gets tingly, and headache doesnt go away. It just changes. Have tried a few, Relpax, Excedrin. Something will work for you, you just have too find it.
7636042 tn?1392841119 I've been suffering from a constant migraine for just about 6 months straight with no relief. I've been on all sorts of anti depressants, anti convulsants and onset meds such as Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax, etc. for years now. I've had nerve blocks for a while now... which only seemed to relieve the pain down to where I could at least function normally and not be in too much pain for about 3 hours to a few days.
Avatar n tn Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.
Avatar n tn Im in the same boat - Imitrex and the other popular one (starts with an R..Relpax??) made my heart race and didnt alleviate the headache like MAXALT - ohh, I LOVE this medicine! I pop one right under the tongue as soon as my "spots" start, and about 20 minutes later, I can feel the headache breaking up a bit. Maybe this will work for you :-) Good luck!
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
