If you can definitely relate it to the cat, see if your girlfriend could/would vacuum right before you come over, clean up as much of the cat hair and dander before you come over, possibly keep the cat in a different room of thehouse than you're going to be in and stay away from the cat as much as possible. This may help reduce your symptoms while you are there. You may also want to consider taking one of the over the counter allergy meds such as Zyrtec or Benadryl.
on both occasions, I got some temporary relief that lasted a couple of weeks, but after that, the symptoms of the allergies returned at full force even while I continued taking the shots. I have also been on a regimen of Nasonex and other sorts of nasal sprays that you need a prescription for. Once again, I saw temporary relief only to have the symptoms return.
This summer (and now September) of 2008 has been really bad.
Actually animals need pain relief, and vets are finally getting around to acknowledging it. Animals are designed to fool predators into thinking they are healthy and they have too act that way even if they don't; otherwise they are someones dinner. Especially cats, if they look bad then they are most likely at death's door. They don't have a voice to tell us just how bad the pain it.
I am not sure there is medication specifically for depression that can be bought over the counter. I have tried St John's Wort and 5HTP, and think they are the only ones apart from supplements that are supposed to help. Also tried Kalm, and Quiet Days. None of them effective for me really.
He just had to get a shot last week b/c he had sores all over his belly from biting and scratching. Now he has a fat bottom lip. He had the same thing in February, got a shot and it went away. I read that fish based foods can cause allergies. He only eats chicken flavored food but I had just given him a salmon flavored treat a day or so before the lip flare up. Anyway, I know that the vet will not want to give him another steroid shot so soon after the other one.
Hives are commonly the result of illness, food allergies, medications, insect bites, extreme temperatures and hypersensitivities to certain irritants. Take over-the-counter antihistamine like hydroxyzine for relief in symptoms. The rash definitely needs to be looked at and monitored by a physician. Treatment will depend on the cause. Hope it helps.

Your symptoms present exactly the same as mine. I have cat allergies, but have had a cat for the past year with no problems. However, just a few days before I got this rash, we took in another cat. So I'm thinking it could be allergies that cat. However, when I looked up pictures of the rash online, it looked more like irritant contact dermatitis rather than allergic contact dermatitis. Oh dear, I just saw that you wrote in 2008, so I'm sure your rash is gone by now.
I had a Cervical Spinal Fusion for Cervical Disc Displacement from Arthritis (I believe from the damage of the childhood fall) I was sure the headaches were from the Arthritis in my neck, but since I've had a headache after surgery im not sure. I know the headaches start in my occipital muscle at the base of my skull and then turns into a classic migraine (without nausea and light sensitivity). My hope is that someone knows of a way to relieve the pain of these headaches.
Defintely see what your doctor thinks. A "small" improvement on albuterol might mean very mild asthma which you don't need to medicate unless you are having symptoms.
If can get worse or time so just watch your symptoms. Recording any increase in shortness of breath or chest tightness and activity and allergy triggers from that day may help.

I used to have them prescribed, but the prescription cost on the nhs was higher then buying them over the counter. .. I normally have zertec or cetrizeane (I think one of them is the same as pyrtine) ... my first appointment isn't for over a week yet, but.this is on my long list of questions to ask when I get there. Take some over the counter medications like chlorpheniramine or cetrizine for symptomatic relief. Drink plenty of water and fluids. Steam inhalation may provide some relief. If the symptoms are severe or persistent a clinical examination may be necessary. I sincerely hope it helps.
