Rebif side effects weight gain

Common Questions and Answers about Rebif side effects weight gain

rebif

1508160 tn?1289920302 t know much about Rebif but I have been on Copaxone for over a year. The side effects are redness, itching, stinging, swelling at the injection site. There isn't any problems with the liver that I know of. There are some reactions for some that include tightness of the chest, flushing. I chose Copaxone over the other DMD's due to the lack of side effects such as flu symptoms, liver function.. Good Luck in your decision!
Avatar f tn Hi all, my daughter was diagnosed with MS at the age of 14 and she is now 17 and has started with Rebif about 9 months ago. The is on rebif 44 and has no real side effects from the injection any more. But she had to have her gallbladder removed 2 months ago. She has also picked up 15 kilos since she started on rebif even though she is eating healthy and is doing swimming and spinning...no matter what she does she cant drop the weight. Is there anyone else who is having this problem?
Avatar f tn I was on Rebif for a while, and, yes, I did gain a few pounds, and, yes, in the list of side effects in the tiny print that came with it, weight gain was one of the side effects to tell your doctor about.
1025701 tn?1257172434 I'm on Rebif. I was on Copaxone. I couldn't take it. I get lumps from the injections even when I rub the injection site afterwards. They leave bruises, sometimes not as bad as others. But since you rotate sites more frequently with Copaxone I was injecting so close to old bruises that it became to painful and I'd skip injections. The lumps were also sooooo itchy that I had to scratch which just made them worse. With Rebif only being three times a week, I get a break.
Avatar f tn Hey Violia! I Hate shots! I wish I could blame rebif for my weight gain but I think its cause I got too sedimentary this year... I don't switch my Rebif around though... tummy hurts so much less so I just do it there. I asked the Doc about it and well he is a doctor and so he says Oh you have to move the injection site.... I asked the Rebif ppl and they say Oh No You Have to move the Injection Site!... I had spots on my arms that wouldn't go away... well I had em on my belly too...
1246883 tn?1285547973 Hi, welcome to the forum, seroquel is known to be associated with weight gain. There is significant weight gain is seen, in such cases usually other anti psychotics are prescribed. The weight gaining effect of this drug will not persist after discontinuation. Any associated condition should be looked for. If there is a change in voice (Voice becomes dusky), weight gain, intolerance to cold etc. You need to get your T3, t4 and TSH level checked as it may be in initial phase.
1187071 tn?1279369698 It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.
Avatar f tn I didn't have any side effects except pregnancy, lol but some people may have them although not sure about the specific ones you asked about.
Avatar f tn Would decreasing to 22mcg be an option? A fellow Rebif user on another MS site who never had any side effects sudenly had terrible reactions post injection. He reported no further side effects after dropping the dose in half. This is just a temporary solution till he gets in to see his Neuro in a couple of weeks. I manage my side effects OK with extra strength Tylenol, which you've already stated don't cut it for you.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lexapro several times over the last 4 years for 6 months to 2 years at a time. I am having problems with the sexual side effects and the weight gain. It's actually less of a "weight gain" than a shift in body composition. My pants are too tight and my shirts are more fitted but I haven't actually gained a pound. I am a competitive runner and haven't changed my exercise or eating habits over the last 2 years.
1555914 tn?1296474056 Depending on how old you are it could just be a weight thing. Normally early 20s you gain weight and again in mid-40s where it becomes hard to lose the weight. (I'm too lazy to check your status to see if you have your age so those things may not apply).
Avatar f tn The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. Regards .....
1028689 tn?1254441334 i started rebif about a month and a half ago.since then depression has been rampant!!!night sweats have been rampant!!!im also on wellbutrin for depression.im told that it takes roughly three months for rebif side affects to subside>can anyone share there experience with rebif.ive been dx with relapsing ms recently, august fifth to be exact and my life is upside down!!!!!!im talking on the virge of mental breakdown.any input is welcome...
Avatar f tn Weight gain is one potential side effect of Cymbalta but it would also depend on your other medications and if they have this side effect as well. It would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist about this and they could see how to adjust and/or change your medications as needed and also how this specific side effect could be addressed.
Avatar n tn I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
Avatar f tn Anyone have a related experience to share or know if weight gain is a common side effect of Ramipril?
Avatar f tn hi Marizzy, and welcome to the forum. I can say that since this is your first post! I'm glad you have decided to join in the conversation. I am also a heart patient - I had a heart attack last year at the age of 53. I am fine but do remain aware of all things cardio. Have you called the Rebif hotline and talked to them about side effects? I am on copaxone and very know little about the other DMD's and their side effects, but I will look and see if I can find some answers.
1798419 tn?1315810427 told me that Effexor may attribute to weight gain, and it DOES state this in the side effects printed from the manufacturer, so your Dr. is incorrect. Do your homework and don't trust all the Doctors, find a good one, and also consider natural health options if you possibly can. Good luck!
462771 tn?1358355843 Hi Jason, Avonex was not an option for me from my neuro so I went with copaxone, a daily injection of a totally different type drug with no side effects. I passed on the Rebif because it has the same side effects as avonex, but is injected three times a week. If avonex, with its once a week injection had been an option I would have seriously considered it instead of the copax.
Avatar f tn I took Avonex for three years and unfortunately I was one of those that always had side effects, so I gave up. With Rebif you are taking an even higher dose of Interferon Beta 1-A than Avonex users. I have heard that Rebif users start to notice a reduction in side effects after more time on the drug. There is that chance that could happen for you. I would talk things over with your doctor.
