Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine weight gain

Avatar n tn Weight gain he discussed is caused by long term use of prednisone. A few lose weight while others gain. That is why it gives people "moon face." GERD and allergies have nothing to do with the actual weight. Some can drop the weight while others it throws out of whack and doctors give the same suck it up response you did. I spent years trying to drop weight with my conditions. Nothing worked well because of unaddressed health issues. Recently I started dropping weight without trying.
Avatar m tn ve never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.
Avatar f tn It is the only thing that turned things around and helped me gain weight.
Avatar m tn Our cat was diagnosed with IBD in April, she has been on prednisilone since then, is now on Flagyl and is now also on ranitidine. She has lost a lot of weight and continues to do so. She is now off her food but drinks a lot, she had had blood tests which came back normal. I want her to find a food that she likes but is becoming more difficult to find one she like. Any advice, the cat is 15years old.
Avatar f tn I'm 36 weeks today and I have been constantly snacking/eating the past two days...I've already gained around 60 pounds. I'm worried that I'm gaining too much weight but my doctor doesn't seemed worried. I feel like I can't get full...am I the only one that's going through this???
Avatar f tn Well, you had sex on day 18 of your cycle . . . late for conception typically. Periods can be late all the time and being sick, in pain, on meds--- this can cause that. Stress, changes in routine, weight gain or loss too. I'm guessing you are just late. If you don't get your period in a full week, then go ahead and take a home P test. But again, I am guessing you're just late.
Avatar n tn Had IV fluids for a day and Cyclizine injections to stop sickness, plus Ranitidine antacids which made a huge difference for me. Will be on Cyclizine + Ranitidine oral tablets for the rest of my pregnancy, am 18+2 and looking forward to being able to enjoy it at last!
Avatar f tn ok, try and exersice more often, it helps ith gas, the numbness is probaly due to you aining weight, think of it as now there are more places for the blood to travel and the pump(heart) cant pump it fast enogh to all areas.
Avatar n tn t consistent with fluid retention, but what else would cause the weight gain? These are perflexing questions causing me a great deal of frustration. Any help before I return to the Gastroenteroligist would be appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn t been on ranitidine long, i recently swapped from omeprazole which did nothing for me to ranitidine, so im still giving it some time before i rule out whether its working or not (although so far im not feeling much difference) I didn't realise that food intolerances may not come up in blood work, thanks for that information! seeing an actual gi doctor will be my next step.
Avatar f tn I have 10 month old twin boys that were born 9 weeks early and have suffered from reflux since birth. They have been on domperidine, ranitidine and carobel ever since. We have managed to ween them from the domperidine which seemend to go ok only a little bit of sick. With advice from our paed we have recently taken them off the ranitidine but ever since they have been up all night , uncomfortable and suffering from a sever cough.
Avatar m tn Changed my diet and included good amount of vegetables. Since 2008, I moved from Nexium to Ranitidine. Also, from 2010, I take Ranitidine as needed instead of taking them every morning an hour after my Thyroid medicine. I have been doing pretty good since then. I have been doing bootcamp since 2011 and I work out 4 days (1 hr, early morning). Reason for my posting to this website is because of an incident which happened on Presidents Day.
Avatar f tn ve been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?
Avatar f tn I also went to the doc for a lump on my inner left buttock. The doc prescribed my antibiotics and ranitidine. I took the antibiotics and the lump/bump went away, but I never took the ranitidine. About one week ago, I drank some beer and as I drank the beer my stomach started hurting, but I kept drinking (a lot). The next day my stomach started hurting bad! I had a sharp pain and super nauseous. I had a bowel movement (diarrhea) and my stomach feel better.
Avatar f tn Look up weight gain according to BMI and it will give you a good idea on the amount of weight you should gain according to your body type.
Avatar f tn Now i am doubtful that i am pregnant as i removed my copper T recently. Avatar n tn A few years ago my doctor put me on 75 mg Ranitidine to take twice a day before meals. A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
Avatar f tn Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?
Avatar f tn You won't gain weight until later...
Avatar f tn Of course you'll gain weight.
Avatar f tn Aww don't worry. In my experience, weight gain tends to stall at the end.
520191 tn?1355635402 Over a year ago i was given ranitidine for the treatment of GERD. I took my first dose and i started to feel nausea so i went to bed, during the night i started vomiting and not like any vomit i had ever experienced before. i thought nothing of it, until my heart began to race through out the night. the next morning i thought i might be allergic to one of my medication as i was prescribed 2 medication all at once.
19501685 tn?1478887405 t have any cough, but do feel mucus in my throat and I have to constantly be clearing my throat throughout the day. Doctor recently prescribed ranitidine before bedtime as my reflux is worse at night. Could the reflux be the cause for the blood? I get really scared when I see it, I have been really anxious about this and have actually gained weight from the stress.
Avatar n tn You gain the most weight in the last 8 weeks. So you might barely gain now, and then pack it on fast toward the end which is normal.
Avatar f tn I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm 36weeks pregnant and since my last doctors appointment I haven't gained any weight. I didn't gain weight in the 1st trimester due 2 sickness, but in the 3rd I've been pretty steady with my weight gain...at the very least a poun a week. And now it's been almost 2 weeks and still no weight gain. Could that mean anything? Or is it just normal? Thanks in advance!
