Avatar n tn I am being weaned from pantoprazole with ranitidine. It seems that now that we have reached the pantoprazole every third day stage, I am getting weekly bouts of diarrhea, especially if I drink more than one cup of coffee. Is this a side effect? The diarrhea wakes me at night.
1210142 tn?1266077031 ) I started taking 40 mg of Pantoprazole in the morning/before breakfast/ and one Ranitidine at night. Doctor suggested after a month to stop Ranitidine and continue only with Pantoprazole. I really hope this is going to help my undiagnosed chest pains.
Avatar m tn I finally got a doctor to prescribe me the antacid ranitidine, and for the time being the pinching went away but the bloating continued. Then I started having stomach pains and I was put on the antacid pantoprazole and a stool softener for constipation. After about a month and a half I was feeling so good I stopped taking the pantoprazole after consulting with my doctor. A week later I was having bad GERD and went back on it.
Avatar n tn You will be given a PPI tablet if its that,Im on Pantoprazole. I use Gaviscon or Sucralfate liquid. Have you tried Ranitidine? That may work.
Avatar f tn Now I was taking 2x1 40mg Pantoprazole for 14 days, then starting yesterday 1x1 in the morning 40mg for additional 1 month, and at same time I have to take sucralfate just before sleep.
Avatar m tn Thanx selma, The timing or the food type does not change drastically, occasional chicken but mostly veggies. The trouble is there only with late night awakening. Ranitidine helps, pantoprazole did not seem to have any effect. Not sure but appears that midnight snacking does help. I am not overweight, in fact, the contrary. Seems like my system is unable to digest properly. Always think of putting on some weight but that is not happening. I will try the chewing gum first and see.

Avatar m tn So you avoid foods like oily/spicy/coffee/tea which are gastric irritants. Try taking medicines like Ranitidine/Pantoprazole for cople of weeks and drink plenty of water. Hope this should solve the problem.
Avatar m tn I had an endoscopy when I was 16 and the doctors found nothing, so the prescribed me a rather high dose of Pantoprazole, which I had taken until I was 18. After a few years of being on the medicine, I noticed that the Pantoprazole alone wasn't enough to tame my daily heartburn, (which, ironically enough, wasn't set off by certain foods, but in fact tamed it. In the morning before I had eaten, it was especially bed to the point sometimes where I had to vomit. Never any blood.
Avatar n tn You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals or H-2 blocker such as ranitidine for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried.

Avatar n tn I am suffering from a form of reflux which I am told is caused by a nerve believed to be in my stomach, I can only drink water as anything else triggers more acid.I take 300mg ranitidine and 20 mg nortriptyline the former for acid the the nortriptyline to try and numb the nerve.I was discharged from the hospital in 2004 and have carried on with this problem which no one else seems to know anything about.
Avatar m tn Yes, Ranitidine would help as it has a different mechanism of action from that of lansoprazole. Pantoprazole (pantocid) is from the same group of drugs as lansoprazole, but some individuals respond better to it. You can try the ranitidine and the pantoprazole while stopping the lansoprazole. Note that pantoprazole should be taken on empty stomach and there should be a time interval of 1 hour between the pantoprazole and any food or beverage. Ranitidine is to be taken 30 min after food.

Avatar n tn You can also take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals or H-2 blocker such as ranitidine for complete relief. Apart from this your doctor may do barium meals X-rays, endoscopy, carbon urea breath test (to rule out H pylori infection), celiac test, etc to reach a diagnosis.

Avatar m tn I'm 28 years old, male, semi-active, former smoker, occasional drinker, 140lbs. I've had a heart murmur for as long as I can remember. Three and a half years ago I moved from Ohio to Texas. I started getting pains in my abdomen and chest. After seeing a doctor I was diagnosed with GERD. I've been on a drug called Ranitidine, which is a generic form of Xantac, on and off for a year or so.
