Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine long term

Avatar f tn but my main suggestion would be sort things out with your body first. i mean, if this is a long term stomach issue then yes, talk to your doctor and see what you can do to help things along and have a healthy baby. but if its something recent and you think might clear up soon, then i would say wait until you are feeling 100% until you start trying. it will make things more enjoyable for you, so you can really appreciate the entire process. plus, its just not fun being sick.
Avatar f tn Have become convinced that Epstein Barr Virus contracted in a 6 month long infectious mononucleosis stint, 15 years ago, is at the root of my 4 year hell. Started taking 150mg Ranitadine after reading an obscure forum somewhere. I FEEL NORMAL, and it started from my 2nd day of Ranitadine. The sick, sick, (pressure/nauseous) feeling in my thyroid is GONE for the 1st time in 7 years. Brain fog gone.. I have energy. Tinnitus lessened.
520191 tn?1355635402 Over a year ago i was given ranitidine for the treatment of GERD. I took my first dose and i started to feel nausea so i went to bed, during the night i started vomiting and not like any vomit i had ever experienced before. i thought nothing of it, until my heart began to race through out the night. the next morning i thought i might be allergic to one of my medication as i was prescribed 2 medication all at once.
Avatar f tn ve been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?
Avatar m tn ve never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum. Delayed Pressure Urticaria presents as erythematous swelling of the skin that develops 4 to 6 hours after pressure has been applied to the area. It can be diagnosed by dermatographometers, if available (almost absolete).
Avatar n tn A few years ago my doctor put me on 75 mg Ranitidine to take twice a day before meals. A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
Avatar f tn Try ranitidine for short-term. You can take more than the recommended 1-2 a day if the pain is bad enough. You will be able to straighten up at least. But protonix is the way to go long-term. Have endoscopy done to determine the cause of heartburn. Good Luck!!
Avatar f tn t been on ranitidine long, i recently swapped from omeprazole which did nothing for me to ranitidine, so im still giving it some time before i rule out whether its working or not (although so far im not feeling much difference) I didn't realise that food intolerances may not come up in blood work, thanks for that information! seeing an actual gi doctor will be my next step.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Choices for a generic over the counter antacid just got smaller as the drug maker of generic ranitidine under the brand name of Zantac has pulled distribution of the medication world wide. Last week the FDA stated they found cancer causing chemicals in some samples taken from batches of generic rantitidine or Zantac. https://www.fda.
2006603 tn?1331329327 Anyone use ranitidine while pregnant? I am 33w4d and yesterday my doc prescribed me 150mg tablets to take twice a day for heartburn. Anyone use ranitidine while pregnant? I just want to make sure its safe.
Avatar m tn In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.
Avatar m tn Xanax, lorazepam, etc. are short term band aid anxiety solutions, not long term calming drugs like the prozacs, zoloft, etc. Make sure you take an antidepressant that helps with anxiety because not all do. Low doses are all you'll probably need, and your body will tolerate each antidepressant differently, so it may take several weeks to find one that works for you. Be patient. I tried Magnesium supplements for several months with mixed results.
1210142 tn?1266077031 No assimilation of Calcium, Vitamin Bs, Magnesium (which can affect your heart), increased broken hips... In summary, I would not worry for the interaction with Plavix, since probably you no longer need it, I would be very worry for taking them without a clear diagnostic or reason. If you have got a gastroscopy and they did not see the reason of your pain, chances are that you will get nothing from PPIs. If you have not got the gastroscopy, I would get it before going on PPIs for life.
Avatar f tn I had physical symptoms that sound similar to yours!!! I ended up with a hole in my septum but no other long term effects. I would try not to worry too much until you see the ENT! Its great that you have stopped for a month now! Have your physical symptoms gotten any better now that you arent using? Stay off of it now that you have a month!!! Its a dangerous drug that psychologically just wants to keep pilling you back in!! Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on!!!
7163794 tn?1457366813 myself to get up? Is this in my head, or is it possible there are long term effects to pain meds and suboxone use? Could it just be me? Has anyone else felt this?
214255 tn?1205635636 My doc suggests that according to studies, long term use at a stable level, followed by long term taper has the lowest relapse rates. So with me he has me on the same dose as the beginning and we will start to taper 1mg per month for 16 months. The positive thing about doing it this way is that I have been able to work a strong NA/AA program and that likely will give me enough tools over time to handle the taper and emotional stuff by then.
