15695260 tn?1549593113 Choices for a generic over the counter antacid just got smaller as the drug maker of generic ranitidine under the brand name of Zantac has pulled distribution of the medication world wide. Last week the FDA stated they found cancer causing chemicals in some samples taken from batches of generic rantitidine or Zantac. https://www.fda.
Avatar f tn Zantac or the generic ranitidine, my Dr gave me the ok on Monday because everything I eat gives me bad heartburn
2006603 tn?1331329327 Ranitidine is just the generic form of Zantac and I am on the same thing, also 150mg, and it is considered safe during pregnancy. I believe my doctor said it was like a Class B (for pregnancy) which is one of the safer things to use, anything below Class A or B is considered a little less safe, if I understood him correctly lol. Hope it helps you, I know it's helped me with my acid reflux.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for responding. Yes I do take suppressive therapy, but at times I do forget to take the pills which I know is a problem. I have some hormonal issues when I have my monthly period as well, which I know contributes to the EM. I went to the doctor today and had a well woman check up and they suggested I also go to a dermatologist. They gave me a script for Valtrex, not the generic form, to see if that may make a difference. I certainly hope so.
Avatar n tn ve been taking prescribed antacids for it and lots of generic tums. A similar thing like this occurred a month ago, however, my stomach only hurt when I touched the very lower portion of it then. Today my stomach hurts when I touch it mostly in the middle and when I don't touch it. The pain feels like the inside of my stomach is just raw. I don't have constipation, diarrhea, or vomiting occuring, but I am having problems sexually.

Avatar m tn My doctor put me on a 42 day regiment of Prilosec which I took and really didn’t notice a difference in my symptoms of feeling like I have to burp or throw up and feeling like there’s something in the back of my throat. I take generic ranitidine as needed. Please advise as I am frustrated. See a GI doctor?
1134609 tn?1269272200 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
1088529 tn?1256844030 I've taken ranitidine (zantac generic) for years. I have liked it because it didn't give me a headache like omeprazole did, or seem to make me kind of dizzy/light headed like it seemed tagamet did. If you feel zantac is not enough for the acid problem, you can take tums or liquid anti-acid, but you need to space it apart- like wait at least a couple hours after taking your zantac to do it. Also, you should let your doctor know if the zantac is not sufficiently treating your symptoms.
Avatar f tn Rantidine IS Zantac, that's the generic name. If you were taking it before, it would be fine to take. I've never heard of a contraindication between Tums and Prozac, but again, if the Zantac works, then stick with that. Let your doc know about the heartburn too. Sometimes it can indicate something like an ulcer.
569254 tn?1267372644 My son was diagnosed at 4 months and ever since he has been put on meds everything has been great. He still has issues with drinking but its a whole diffrent problem. I think he is on Zantax (?) Its called ranitidine on the bottle but I think its generic for zantax. He takes it 2x's a day and he hasnt thrown up since. A little spit up now and then but other than that nothing:) I would ask your peds about meds, it really helped for us:) Good luck!

Avatar f tn I 14 weeks and I suffer from acid reflux for many years. My doctor suggested to take Ranitidine is an over the counter med for acid reduction. The dosage is low for me so I take one in the morning with breakfast and the next one I take it for dinner. Tums does not work for me either. Milk helps me when I run out of my meds. Just be alittle more cautious with what you eat that way you can monitor what gives you heartburn.
Avatar f tn Yes it's totally legal. If you want more information there's a guy on the internet who outlines the process, whether you travel abroad or order online. He actually wrote a book and started a blog on it. He also started a buyer's club but no need to go that route. His name is Greg Jefferys, google his name for more information.
538782 tn?1213809348 I'm new to this website. Question, I'm soon to be taking my third dose of clomid. I haven't picked up my prescription yet but, i'm lost.. I don't know whether to take the generic or name brand. Ive been taken the generic(clomiphene citrate) for the past two cycles with no luck.. Dr said he would rather me be on the brand name. It is more expensive. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn My question concerns Synthroid. On Dec 04, 2006 at 12:00AM, Mark Lupo, M.D. said in answer to a question: "Levoxyl is another brand -- there is no advantage to Synthroid. Protecting the brand has advantages over generic regarding consistency of levels. the generic is levothyroxine". Huh? What on earth does that answer mean? "Protecting"? "consistency of levels?
7349088 tn?1390657733 I take Ranitidine 150mg at least once a day. I had my OB prescribe it to me but you can get it over the counter.
Avatar n tn What is the generic name, chemical name, classification and contraindications for Lyvoxil?
Avatar f tn ve taken, both, generic levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3), as well, as brand name Synthroid and Cytomel. I did better on on generic levo than I did on Synthyroid... I've been taking generic liothyronine for over 5 yrs and have done just as well as I did on Cytomel. I don't think you'll have any difficulty, with generic T3, but if you do, you can always go back to Cytomel.
