Ranitidine antihistamine

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine antihistamine

zantac

Avatar n tn Many doctors do require their patients to go off H2 blockers (a specific type of antihistamine. H2 blockers inclue Zantac (ranitidine) and Pepcid. I cannot recall the chemical in Pepcid at the moment. Another questionable med is Elavil (amitriptyline). It is an antidepressant but has some antihistamine qualities. Every doctor is different on these meds. Many don't want to cause issues with going off of these meds.
Avatar n tn 8 atarax 25 mg each, 1 doxepin 25mg at bedtime and two zyrtec 10mg each, one ranitidine 300 mg) they have not been able to do much. And none of the meds made me tired. My internist was concerened about all the meds I was taking so have gotten off of everything except 5 atarax/day. Tried to stop the atarax completely but w/in 2 days hives came back w/ a vengence. Have ordered Rupatadine/Rupafin from Canada. Trying to find info about possible side effects, esp hair loss (yes I am vain).
Avatar f tn Hi, Hives are red, itchy welts or swellings on the skin that often come in clusters. In doctor speak, hives are known as "urticaria". Hives can appear anywhere on the body, cropping up either in one small area or covering large patches of skin. They most often occur as part of an allergic reaction. Hives usually appear suddenly and go away on their own in a matter of days, hours, or even minutes. Chronic hives, however, can last for six weeks or more.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
338416 tn?1420045702 Chances are that the antihistamine was a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. Many protein based allergens (bee/wasp stings, etc.) seem to trigger histamine H2 responses. Since Copaxone is a copolymer, histamine H1-receptor antagonist may not work well. The histamine H2-receptor antagonists, like cimetidine (Tagamet) or ranitidine (Zantac) and famotidine (Pepcid) might actually work better. I know, it sounds goofy, but the histamine response causes the acid pumps in the stomach to turn on.
Avatar n tn If it is, antihistamine will help, and washing all your bedding in hot water and bleach and drying on high heat will help atleast temporarily (If it helps at all, you need to wrap your mattress in heavy plastic and seal completely with duck tape - and you may need a new mattress as well, and you also need to spring clean your room.) GERD would also do that, and sometimes that's its only symptom.
Avatar f tn ve been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?

Avatar n tn A few years ago my doctor put me on 75 mg Ranitidine to take twice a day before meals. A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
520191 tn?1355635402 Over a year ago i was given ranitidine for the treatment of GERD. I took my first dose and i started to feel nausea so i went to bed, during the night i started vomiting and not like any vomit i had ever experienced before. i thought nothing of it, until my heart began to race through out the night. the next morning i thought i might be allergic to one of my medication as i was prescribed 2 medication all at once.

Avatar f tn Some studies have linked EBV with Hashimoto's, but there's nothing conclusive. Some doctors have felt that Fibromyalgia is, basically, un or under-treated hypothyroidism, since Fibro and hypothyroidism share many symptoms and many/most of the symptoms go away if the patient is treated adequately with thyroid hormones.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Choices for a generic over the counter antacid just got smaller as the drug maker of generic ranitidine under the brand name of Zantac has pulled distribution of the medication world wide. Last week the FDA stated they found cancer causing chemicals in some samples taken from batches of generic rantitidine or Zantac. https://www.fda.
2006603 tn?1331329327 Anyone use ranitidine while pregnant? I am 33w4d and yesterday my doc prescribed me 150mg tablets to take twice a day for heartburn. Anyone use ranitidine while pregnant? I just want to make sure its safe.
Avatar m tn In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.
Avatar f tn Zantac or the generic ranitidine, my Dr gave me the ok on Monday because everything I eat gives me bad heartburn

Avatar m tn ve never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.
Avatar f tn My consultant has taken me off omeprazole and replaced it with ranitidine due to the fact that my magnesium is low, and is making my calcium low too. Has anyone else had experience of this change, and if so, how has your body reacted to it.
Avatar m tn gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-updates-and-press-announcements-ndma-zantac-ranitidine and here is the info on safety. https://www.fda.gov/safety/medical-product-safety-information/zantac-ranitidine-safety-information-ndma-found-samples-some-ranitidine-medicines. They didn't tell people to stop taking it at that time. I would personally not worry about taking it previously. Hope that helps.
