Ranitidine and protonix

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine and protonix

zantac

Avatar n tn Nothing works, have tried omeprazole, famotidine, reglan, antacids, ranitidine, and others. My lower throat feels like it cramps and I can't breathe, then the blood and oxygen rushing to deal with that makes my heart start pounding. I am wondering: is there anything I can suggest to my doctors to look at next, or another drug I can try since the only thing that gives me relief is sublingual nitroglycerin and I go through 100 of those a month ? Thanks for ANY suggestions, I am desperate.
Avatar f tn My Dr just put me on protonix because nothing else seemed to get rid of my heartburn. I take it morning and night and have been heartburn free since the 2nd day.
Avatar f tn Doctor has prescribed me omeprazole and ranitidine together - neither are working at all, tried every thing possible. Every doctor I see tells me the exact same thing - it's bad acid reflux which is causing the discomfort in my upper abdo - still doesn't make you feel any better though does it!!! It's not them having to live their life like this.
Avatar f tn I had it on and off for about 15 months and for the past 2 months it has not dissipated. I am on Protonix, I do not smoke, I gave up coffee and many acid producing foods. The mucous is too thick to swallow and I many times get sick when I am coughing to expel it, which is probably injuring my esophagus even further.
Avatar f tn I was put on omeprazole which helped with the burning for a little while and then seemed to stop working. They tried ranitidine and it didn't work at all. Now I am on protonix 40mg twice a day. That seemed to be working for the last week, but now the heartburn throughout is back. I suspect it is because I tried to eat some protein to try and gain weight. They have done ultrasound, ct scan, blood work, and stool tests and everything has come up normal.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Taking Diltiazem, Lisinopril, Aspirin and Ranitidine as well. Have been having constant stomach and chest pains and the doctors are not able to find the cause- at least they don’t think it is a cardiac one./the chest pains/ My gastroenterologist suggested I stop taking Ranitidine and switch to Pantroprazole. I have read a lot about the interaction between Plavix and PPI’s but he thinks only Omeprazole have more effect on Plavix, not Pantoprazole.
Avatar f tn What do you ladies take for acid reflux? I'm 31 weeks and a few days and the past three weeks I've been waking up from a dead sleep vomiting from acid reflux. It gets up into my nose. The lining of my throat is burning. I have a cold right now too and asthma so vomiting and coughing is literally killing my throat. I just woke up from sleeping and threw up so badly I peed my pants. I'm so over this. I cant have Zantac because I'm super allergic.
Avatar m tn And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.
Avatar f tn I found my throat has been burning and still painful. So i went for 2nd ENT opinion who dianosed me as Laryngopharyngeal Reflux.I tried to change my eating pattern .I got better. But recently I feel hungry at night again. So i turn back to eat very light meal before going to bed 2 hours with enzymes ( prescription from the ENT.doc)I want to do endocoping for upper digestive system. But i have baby (whom i adopted)So i can't leave her alone to take endocopy.I feel depressed so much.
Avatar f tn m miserable every day, been taking protonix and ranitidine daily and constantly have to burp and still feel the pain on my side from time to time. Is it possible with my HIDA scan at 25% and no stones that my gallbladder could be causing the issue. I just want to feel normal again. My insurance changes on January 1st and have to start this process all over again. Any feedback is appreciated and sorry for rambling on.
Avatar f tn I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I have been posting in the addiction forum because I was taking pain med for knees and began taking too much, then decided to quit. It's been a few months since I stopped the meds and I've experienced a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I've been seeking treatment with massage and chiropractic care. The pain is not subsiding at all. The chiropractor said that I don't have an injury, but fascia...itis in neck and shoulder.
Avatar f tn I was convinced this was a side effect of the birth control, and decided to ignore it for about six months. I packed up and moved to college and it got worse. I was hardly eating and lost a ton of weight, to where i became substantially underweight. I was nauseous daily, and living off of Gatorade and crackers. I had just broken up with my boyfriend and had moved away from home for the first time so I was also under a lot of stress at the time.
Avatar n tn Have a sensitive stomach and get burning pains especially if food has chilly or is strong in acid. Ranitidine has helped but from time to time suffer missing hearbeats. Having given up the drug for a while things improved but stomach started to suffer again and thus the reason to re-start the drug.
Avatar m tn ve never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.
709686 tn?1277432159 knees, I developed seasonal allergy symptoms, tingling sensation in both hands and feet and back pain. I read on a few websites that the joing pain and tingling sensation could be a symptom of low B12. Anyone else have these experiences? It ***** getting old.
1786699 tn?1314982680 Hi Jessica, I can somewhat relate, I'm not sure if I have entirely the same symptoms. After lots and lots of testing I was diagnosed with acid reflux and gerd. I was told to avoid certain foods such as chocolate and coffee, but it doesn't matter even if I drink water I can feel it come right back up into my throat. It is a very uncomfortable feeling. If i drink a glass of milk it will curtle in my stomach and come up in my throat.
Avatar f tn Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds...... so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid. I have noticed mine cycles....
Avatar n tn For over a month now I have been suffering from stomach pain, nausea, a bit of gas and bloating, and food tasting really weird/gross. I've been taking prescribed antacids for it and lots of generic tums. A similar thing like this occurred a month ago, however, my stomach only hurt when I touched the very lower portion of it then. Today my stomach hurts when I touch it mostly in the middle and when I don't touch it. The pain feels like the inside of my stomach is just raw.
Avatar m tn m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.
Avatar f tn Looking to get pointed in the right direction here. I have constant nausea (all day everyday). Stomach feels full of liquid all the time (I can hear it slushing around). Bloated feeling in stomach and intestines. Recurring tenderness in ascending colon area. Headaches and what seems to feel like dry or tired eyes. Had an abdominal ultrasound and results are a mild fatty liver. I have high cholesterol. Had upper endoscopy and diagnosed with gastritis but I don't get heartburn or sore throat.
Avatar f tn I have been to the hospital twice with two ekgs done normal and a lot of blood work normal I have bad shoulder pains leg pains arms ache and neck hurts when I drink or eat anything my chest hurts and my back hurts can stress and gets cause this I get headaches daily and the pain in shoulders and arms daily
Avatar f tn Hi Selma, I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.
Avatar f tn I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
