Ranitidine and prilosec together

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine and prilosec together

zantac

Avatar f tn Because of my remote location, a trip to the ENT was very expensive and I declined to go. Eventually it did clear up and heal and go away, and I went on with my life. Fast forward to last week, I've been feeling a bit stressed and noticed my heart burn and IBS acting up a bit. I did basically nothing for it, hoping it would just go away. The post nasal drip / throat clearing and dysphagia started again a few days ago.
Avatar n tn Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I've had occassional PVC's for 20 plus years. I also have Mitral Valve Prolaps. About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago.
Avatar m tn After getting two stents I was put on plavix. I also have gerds and would like to know what medecine I cantake for it tht doesnt conflict with plavix.
Avatar n tn The GI doc has me switching off omeprazole (prilosec) in the morning and ranitidine (zantac) before bed. Switching the two helps and of course watching what I eat and drink, Right now I am uncomfortable from my dinner - the giant milk shake was a bit too much milk and sugar for me. I have no saage advice for this one.... but can definitely commiserate.
Avatar n tn I have the lump in throat feeling, too. I am scheduled for my first endoscopy next month. I have had GERD for many years. I had bad experiences with the PPI's and Zantac (Ranitidine) isn't the least bit helpful. I am careful with my diet, but I still get this feeling in my throat and the pain right below the sternum. I rarely get heartburn from my foods any more, because I am watching very carefully what I eat.
Avatar n tn Now, two years later my gastritis symptoms have come back (heartburn and nausea), and I read somewhere that I can take omeprazole AND ranitidine on the same day (but not the same time) so I've been taking the 20 mg Omeprazole in the am before breakfast and a 75mg ranitidine in the pm before dinner, which has worked quiet well.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Taking Diltiazem, Lisinopril, Aspirin and Ranitidine as well. Have been having constant stomach and chest pains and the doctors are not able to find the cause- at least they don’t think it is a cardiac one./the chest pains/ My gastroenterologist suggested I stop taking Ranitidine and switch to Pantroprazole. I have read a lot about the interaction between Plavix and PPI’s but he thinks only Omeprazole have more effect on Plavix, not Pantoprazole.
1437406 tn?1283839310 I have acid reflux and usually take prilosec but my doctor changed me to ranitidine. Tums also helps. Dr. said NO Pepto Bismol. How far along is your wife?
Avatar m tn I have elevated my bed by my head and it does not seem to help much. My doctor put me on a 42 day regiment of Prilosec which I took and really didn’t notice a difference in my symptoms of feeling like I have to burp or throw up and feeling like there’s something in the back of my throat. I take generic ranitidine as needed. Please advise as I am frustrated. See a GI doctor?
593603 tn?1229378162 I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.
Avatar f tn Milk tums and prilosec....oh and sleep with lots of pillows. I get it bad. Its like the acid is spewing in my throat.
Avatar m tn Can you please tell me if you can take Nexium 40mg. and Zantac 75mg. together or on the same day. My GI doctor has me on Nexium 40mg. and my PCP wants me to take Zantac 75mg. at night before I go to bed. Is it safe, and can I take it with Xanax 1mg. I have GERDS and Barrett's Esophagus. And they both think it mjght be causing these little pinpoint pimples in my mouth, tongue, and throat.
Avatar f tn I've been on prilosec since I was 21 weeks.. I'm now 2 days shy of 36 weeks... and my baby has dropped and the acid reflux and heart burn lightened up!
6396087 tn?1399167632 It would make me sick from coming up, and I couldnt sleep. I was prescribed Apo-Ranitidine 150 mg twice a day, and it was amazing. It literally takes it away. Speak to your Dr so you wont have to suffer anymore. I totally feel for you.

Avatar n tn I ran out of Nexium and got desperate enough to try a course of Prilosec again. But that has run out and without a doctor say so, I cannot take it again for 4 months. Taking TUMS is like squirting a water gun at a house fire. I can't eat or sleep very much and it is taking its toll. Are there any less expensive meds that I could be taking until I can see a doctor again - when we have insurance?
Avatar n tn I am guessing your diagnosis is laryngopharyngeal reflux, a type of acid reflux that affects the throat and voice box. I am on 40mg of Prilosec twice a day, an hour before breakfast and dinner. Still have the lump in my throat. You can look this up on the net and see if it sounds like what you have. Also, do not eat within about three hours of going to bed. I am sleeping on two pillows to prop myself up some, as using only one causes the acid to come up.
709686 tn?1277432159 knees, I developed seasonal allergy symptoms, tingling sensation in both hands and feet and back pain. I read on a few websites that the joing pain and tingling sensation could be a symptom of low B12. Anyone else have these experiences? It ***** getting old.
Avatar m tn I took gasX, and prilosec. I had this once before and saw a doctor in fear of an aortic aneurysm , but she put me on dexelant and I was fine and was just worrying. Thanks!

Avatar f tn I take mylanta notnsure if you have that in US and doc prescribed ranitidine 150mg twice a day safe during pregnancy. I was told by doc nexium isnt safe during pregnancy can cause birth defects and premature labor.
Avatar m tn htm Please discuss with your doctor about trying a combination of medication. Stop Prilosec and see. Keep a stress diary to see if a particular food causes more problems than the other. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods .Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec(omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms persist then pls consult a physician. Avatar f tn I too was prescribed zantac (Ranitidine) and I began taking them last week for nausea and was having light chest pain.( Less serious Zantac side effects may include:headache (may be severe);drowsiness, dizziness;sleep problems (insomnia);decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or swollen or tender breasts (in men);nausea, vomiting, stomach pain; or diarrhea or constipation so yes those are some of the side effects your having.
Avatar n tn 1) Ranitidine is a very mild drug and is often not very useful. There are more powerful drugs available over the counter such as Prilosec OTC ( Omeprazole 20 mg). If you are heavy (over 85kg) you may need to take 2 tablets (20 X 2 = 40mg) per day. This will help with heartburn but not nausea. 2) For nausea, try Domperidone 10 mg. IF this is not available in your country, try Bismuth Salicylate (Pepto Bismol). This is mild as well.
