Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine and pregnancy

zantac

Avatar f tn rantindine is safe during pregnancy, i have been on it with this one and with my son, dont know about the others but rantindine is basicly generic zantac and is safe=)
2006603 tn?1331329327 Ranitidine is just the generic form of Zantac and I am on the same thing, also 150mg, and it is considered safe during pregnancy. I believe my doctor said it was like a Class B (for pregnancy) which is one of the safer things to use, anything below Class A or B is considered a little less safe, if I understood him correctly lol. Hope it helps you, I know it's helped me with my acid reflux.
Avatar n tn Have a sensitive stomach and get burning pains especially if food has chilly or is strong in acid. Ranitidine has helped but from time to time suffer missing hearbeats. Having given up the drug for a while things improved but stomach started to suffer again and thus the reason to re-start the drug.
Avatar m tn ve never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.
Avatar n tn For over a month now I have been suffering from stomach pain, nausea, a bit of gas and bloating, and food tasting really weird/gross. I've been taking prescribed antacids for it and lots of generic tums. A similar thing like this occurred a month ago, however, my stomach only hurt when I touched the very lower portion of it then. Today my stomach hurts when I touch it mostly in the middle and when I don't touch it. The pain feels like the inside of my stomach is just raw.
Avatar f tn I'm on Cyclizine (anti-sickness) and Ranitidine (antacids), then eat little and often. 19+2 now and know what you're going through and how difficult it can seem, I've had days i've felt so low and dont know how I'm going to get through this pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Told my doc and she prescribed me Ranitidine to take 2x s day. It totally helped! i noticed it works better if u take it before u eat. Ask your doc about it and if u gwt it hopefully it will help u like it helped me.
Avatar f tn ve been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?
Avatar n tn I'm also doing the iv floods at home also and taking slots of pills for my nausea and some time it helps and some times it doesnt and I'm also losing a lot of weight and I have to take blood thinners for a blood clot I have and I'm also at risk of having a heart attack or stroke
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to take pepcid AC and that helps so much I can actually sleep at night without puking and it is safe to take.
Avatar n tn Now, two years later my gastritis symptoms have come back (heartburn and nausea), and I read somewhere that I can take omeprazole AND ranitidine on the same day (but not the same time) so I've been taking the 20 mg Omeprazole in the am before breakfast and a 75mg ranitidine in the pm before dinner, which has worked quiet well.
1088529 tn?1256844030 Avoid heavy meals and take frequent small ones. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
1437406 tn?1283839310 I'm also 37 and we're having our first. I have acid reflux and usually take prilosec but my doctor changed me to ranitidine. Tums also helps. Dr. said NO Pepto Bismol. How far along is your wife?
520191 tn?1355635402 t take that and i took the ranitidine, within 30 min of taking i had more and more problems breathing, i felt like i was suffocating. i rang my doctor as i didn't know what to do and she put me through as she could tell i couldn't breathe even through she couldn't understand me. By the time the ambulance arrived my lips and neck has swollen, i could barely say a word let alone a sentence. i had a rash around my neck and my oxygen saturation was low.
Avatar f tn Some doctors have felt that Fibromyalgia is, basically, un or under-treated hypothyroidism, since Fibro and hypothyroidism share many symptoms and many/most of the symptoms go away if the patient is treated adequately with thyroid hormones. From the reading I've done, there's no benefit of taking ranitidine for EBV when mononucleosis is active, therefore, I can see no benefit of it 15 yrs later, either.
15695260 tn?1549593113 gov/news-events/press-announcements/statement-alerting-patients-and-health-care-professionals-ndma-found-samples-ranitidine The amount was very small and barely more than the amount of the chemical you might expect to find in common foods but the general public needs to feel safe in the medications they take. However the FDA didn't recommend people not take the medication they currently have.
11970398 tn?1443134602 Well I was on omeprazol and my OB took me off because it wasn't super safe and tested during pregnancy! But the doctor that confirmed my pregnancy told me it was fine. I think that there are some medications that are on the edge (like zofran) and had many different opinions. I always choose the natural route during my pregnancy though and I've suffered with GERD or acid reflux my entire life!
Avatar m tn To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so. I also noticed when taking TUMS that I only need to take less than one tablet for it to be effective (say about 500 mg /day. Occasionally 750mg). One question I have is would it be better to only take Tums instead - even if I need to use ~500mg each day?
Avatar f tn Because of my remote location, a trip to the ENT was very expensive and I declined to go. Eventually it did clear up and heal and go away, and I went on with my life. Fast forward to last week, I've been feeling a bit stressed and noticed my heart burn and IBS acting up a bit. I did basically nothing for it, hoping it would just go away. The post nasal drip / throat clearing and dysphagia started again a few days ago.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Taking Diltiazem, Lisinopril, Aspirin and Ranitidine as well. Have been having constant stomach and chest pains and the doctors are not able to find the cause- at least they don’t think it is a cardiac one./the chest pains/ My gastroenterologist suggested I stop taking Ranitidine and switch to Pantroprazole. I have read a lot about the interaction between Plavix and PPI’s but he thinks only Omeprazole have more effect on Plavix, not Pantoprazole.
Avatar n tn I'm in panic mode, as far as cancer goes. I have a mass seen by mammogram, ultra sound, and MRI. I take high risk medication and also I've been taking the highly talked about ranitidine(prescribed to me) for the past 5 or 6 years.
Avatar f tn ve had it since about 15 weeks and am 27 weeks now, I take ranitidine tablets plus try to eat little and often, glass of milk helps and not lying flat too
Avatar f tn My Dr told me to take Ranitidine 150mg twice a day. Or once. Depending how bad it is. And just try to avoid greasy or spicy foods. Also don't eat to much. Instead eat several small meals throughout the day.
