Avatar m tn I have had Shortness of breath, tight chest, constantly clearing my throat, but not much comes up. This had been going on for like 4 months for me and I finally went to the DR. and HE said gerd.. I always thought Gerd was more like heartburn, or food coming up in your throat. And I also thought it was mostly in over weight persons. I am 40 i weigh like 135, and I dont understand how GERD can make me short on breath.
Avatar n tn re taking Ranitidine, namely GERD has been associated with arrhythmia. Interestingly, the day I cut as many carbohydrates from my diet as I could was the last day I needed to take Ranitidine.
1518347 tn?1290837751 t seem to work. Also, I am not able to breathe properly. I have a history of asthma. Does Gerd and Asthma go hand in hand? Moreover, I just have a feeling of not being well. My rib cage is paining a lot. Please help me..
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Gerd last spring and was put on Ranitidine 150 mgs twice daily. Later found out that I had H. Pylori, had this cleared up after suffering with it most of the summer. I figured that was what caused the GERD, was later put on zantac 150 mgs, however, haven't really been taking meds. However, of late noticed that I've been coughing and find myself always clearing my throat, of which is starting to get annying.
Avatar f tn I am currently on omeprazole AND ranitidine at the same time and it hasn't even touched my acid reflux in the slightest, either of them, so my Dad has paid for me to go private next week cos I am pregnant an really suffering at the moment.
Avatar f tn Because of my remote location, a trip to the ENT was very expensive and I declined to go. Eventually it did clear up and heal and go away, and I went on with my life. Fast forward to last week, I've been feeling a bit stressed and noticed my heart burn and IBS acting up a bit. I did basically nothing for it, hoping it would just go away. The post nasal drip / throat clearing and dysphagia started again a few days ago.
Avatar n tn I have MS and one major problem I have is GERD, hiatal hernia, and gastroparesis. I have finally found relief for the constipation that goes with this. I now take 2 omeprazole a day, 4 domperidone--a motility drug, and a Zantac before bed. I have tried ginger capsules and all kinds of natural supplements, plus tums, etc. Any suggestions? I have had a bezoar when digestion just stopped, gall bladder out--infection in that. I feel like I have morning sickness all the time!
Avatar n tn Now, two years later my gastritis symptoms have come back (heartburn and nausea), and I read somewhere that I can take omeprazole AND ranitidine on the same day (but not the same time) so I've been taking the 20 mg Omeprazole in the am before breakfast and a 75mg ranitidine in the pm before dinner, which has worked quiet well.
Avatar m tn It is best to manage GERD with diet and life style changes if you can. I also take a digestive enzyme and probiotic. I took a double dose of the probiotic for about 2 - 3 months a while back after taking a lot of antibiotics. That got my reflux under much better control. Let me know if you have any more questions. Take care and feel better. God bless.
Avatar m tn In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.
Avatar f tn She says the white coating is normal on the back of tounge and my taste buds looks normal. I got a throat swab just to be sure and it came out negative. I just started on ranitidine. I hope it helps soon!
Avatar m tn I finally got a doctor to prescribe me the antacid ranitidine, and for the time being the pinching went away but the bloating continued. Then I started having stomach pains and I was put on the antacid pantoprazole and a stool softener for constipation. After about a month and a half I was feeling so good I stopped taking the pantoprazole after consulting with my doctor. A week later I was having bad GERD and went back on it.
Avatar m tn What is the cause of chronic hiccups and chest and body pain? This discussion is related to Chest pain with deep breath and persistent hiccups.
520191 tn?1355635402 t take that and i took the ranitidine, within 30 min of taking i had more and more problems breathing, i felt like i was suffocating. i rang my doctor as i didn't know what to do and she put me through as she could tell i couldn't breathe even through she couldn't understand me. By the time the ambulance arrived my lips and neck has swollen, i could barely say a word let alone a sentence. i had a rash around my neck and my oxygen saturation was low.
Avatar n tn Sorry - if this is the incorrect section, I'm unsure where to put this. This is a sinus and respiratory related question. I am a male, I am currently 24, and am at around 265 lbs. For a good history of all my recent problems, I'll start about two or three years ago: Around three years ago, I got lyme disease. The hospital put me on Doxycycline, then because that started ripping up my stomach they put me on Nexium.
Avatar m tn I was taking Ranitidine before and it was hit or miss, sometimes it was effective, other times it was not.
Avatar n tn I have the lump in throat feeling, too. I am scheduled for my first endoscopy next month. I have had GERD for many years. I had bad experiences with the PPI's and Zantac (Ranitidine) isn't the least bit helpful. I am careful with my diet, but I still get this feeling in my throat and the pain right below the sternum. I rarely get heartburn from my foods any more, because I am watching very carefully what I eat.
Avatar n tn Do I have GERD or is it something else? Ive read about it and nausea isnt a symptom in most cases. The nausea is the main thing thats troubling me. Thanks.
Avatar m tn It sounds very much like GERD or asthma. You could try some OTC acid reflux meds to start with. I would suggest something with ranitidine or omeprazole. You can take both of them. omeprazole should be taken early in the day to mid afternoon and the ranitidine works best at night. If these don't work, ask your doctor for spirometry or methocholine chalenge.
Avatar f tn Pylori breathe test all of which came back with normal results. I was diagnosed with GERD and given omeprazole which never really helped worked and now im trying ranitidine instead. my symptoms began after a year of monthly tonsillitis which i was on antibiotics for each occasion - after this ended i began getting nausea and it has steadily gotten worse. I have literally no social life because even when i feel reasonably well im too nervous to go out and i do suffer from anxiety because of it.
Avatar n tn Tightness in throat along with gagging can also be due to stress, anxiety and as a part of panic attack. Yes, GERD too is another possibility. You can give ranitidine and see if this helps. I would suggest an ENT examination at the time when your son is having these symptoms. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn How do I deal with excessive and constant thick mucous in the back of my throat which seems to be a symptom of my GERD? I had it on and off for about 15 months and for the past 2 months it has not dissipated. I am on Protonix, I do not smoke, I gave up coffee and many acid producing foods. The mucous is too thick to swallow and I many times get sick when I am coughing to expel it, which is probably injuring my esophagus even further.
Avatar n tn As you likely know GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease) and headache can often be associated with one another. Are you experiencing a lot of stress and anxiety? If so, this can be a trigger of both increased acid production and headache. Also, if you have allergies, symptoms of GERD can be aggravated, so you may want to go to an allergist. Burning in the stomach can be so frustrating. I have GERD myself and take a high dose prescription of ranitidine (prescribed by my doctor).
Avatar f tn I'm 21 weeks and have been dealing with this for about a week, but I also have gerd along with it. I've been taking zofran(anti nausea) and ranitidine(acid reducer) to help.
