Ranitidine and gerd

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine and gerd

Avatar n tn However, the perhaps reason you're taking Ranitidine, namely GERD has been associated with arrhythmia. Interestingly, the day I cut as many carbohydrates from my diet as I could was the last day I needed to take Ranitidine.
531005 tn?1286519132 Thank you so much! So, GERD and Ulcers are now curable? I read that Ranitidine sped up the healing process in individuals who were taking it. I'm assuming healing means curing. My fear is having to take this one medicine everyday for the rest of my life. Thanks again.

Avatar f tn I am currently on omeprazole AND ranitidine at the same time and it hasn't even touched my acid reflux in the slightest, either of them, so my Dad has paid for me to go private next week cos I am pregnant an really suffering at the moment.

Avatar m tn Hi I have had severe Gerd for almost 11 months now. I take Ranitidine 1 tablet in morning and 1 eve I also take Gastrocote when needed. My main problem is acid rising to the throat where I constantly clear my throat particularly at night even though I raise my head. I also get burning to my throat and sour saliva taste which come after meals which is hard to get rid of. I have seen specialist but awaiting results for my ph oesophagus test.
520191 tn?1355639002 i thought it was the other medication ( citalopram) so i didn't take that and i took the ranitidine, within 30 min of taking i had more and more problems breathing, i felt like i was suffocating. i rang my doctor as i didn't know what to do and she put me through as she could tell i couldn't breathe even through she couldn't understand me. By the time the ambulance arrived my lips and neck has swollen, i could barely say a word let alone a sentence.
1719375 tn?1310333876 I have had 5 scopes, and a white blood cells test with radiation, no results, had gall bladder scan and kidney scan and xrays and still nothing. The past few months ive got worse and am now no longer able to work.
Avatar f tn I would suggest that you research life style changes for reflux and try to get a doctor to presribe a GOOD proton pump inhibitor and maybe some prescription strength ranitidine to layer. Also, research your failed peristasis and be prepared to discus that thoroughly with your GI tomorrow. My guess is that this is part of the key for you. Perstasis is the contraction of smooth muscles that keeps food moving through the digestive track.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. This is a support group not a group of Drs and you need to be seen by one....there are far too many things that can be causing your issue and the answer will not be online I am sorry to say.....but once you have a DX we are happy to be hear and share similar experiences and offer support.
Avatar f tn She says the white coating is normal on the back of tounge and my taste buds looks normal. I got a throat swab just to be sure and it came out negative. I just started on ranitidine. I hope it helps soon!
Avatar n tn I have chronic gerd and have had a recent endoscopy which showed no precancerous lesions associated with my gerd but have esophagitis. I want to know what should be done for the esophagitis? I am on prevacid 30mg once daily and take it again if the acid reflux gets bad during the night. I have a chronic gergling sound everytime I breathe when laying down and don't know if that will be a problem down the road also.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Gerd last spring and was put on Ranitidine 150 mgs twice daily. Later found out that I had H. Pylori, had this cleared up after suffering with it most of the summer. I figured that was what caused the GERD, was later put on zantac 150 mgs, however, haven't really been taking meds. However, of late noticed that I've been coughing and find myself always clearing my throat, of which is starting to get annying.
Avatar m tn My job requires me to be on the phones for 8 hours. Anyway, now I am reading there is a connection between GERD and the devasting and serious Pulmonary Fibrosis. Can someone tell me if there's a way I can prevent this!? What's the statistics that it will happen?! Is it a sure thing it'll progress?! Does genetics play a role in it!? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum, As Flycaster stated we are not medical professionals....but I will say this, he is right call your Dr anytime you have a side effect from a med call your Dr ASAP.... Let us know what you find out.
Avatar m tn I just feel extremely scared as I’ve got a nice job and relatively good life, except for this, and I have been reading about GERD, hiatus-hernia and its symptoms, treatment and complications, including surgery, and I know I must have it due to how my body feels and the issues I have been going through this past months. I wanted to share my story with all of you and try to get some feedback and help.
716924 tn?1235873079 U may have a hiatial hernia....IBS....who knows.....sometimes a gall bladder issue will present as gerd and gerd related. Please see a gastro dr and let us know how u make out.
Avatar n tn Hi! Well, heartburn like symptom just below the sternum is usually due to gastric reflux (GERD) and acidity. So, if you have been tested negative for GERD, then probably the symptom is just due to acidity. There could be H pylori infection, and this can also mimic GERD. This can be diagnosed through blood test, carbon urea breath test and endoscopy. So, probably the endoscopy with biopsy ruled this out, but please do bring this up with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Because of my remote location, a trip to the ENT was very expensive and I declined to go. Eventually it did clear up and heal and go away, and I went on with my life. Fast forward to last week, I've been feeling a bit stressed and noticed my heart burn and IBS acting up a bit. I did basically nothing for it, hoping it would just go away. The post nasal drip / throat clearing and dysphagia started again a few days ago.
Avatar f tn How do I deal with excessive and constant thick mucous in the back of my throat which seems to be a symptom of my GERD? I had it on and off for about 15 months and for the past 2 months it has not dissipated. I am on Protonix, I do not smoke, I gave up coffee and many acid producing foods. The mucous is too thick to swallow and I many times get sick when I am coughing to expel it, which is probably injuring my esophagus even further.
Avatar m tn the omeprazole tablets made me so ill i couldnt eat for a week, so switched them to ranitidine. during this time i have been to a and e 5 times with pain and tingles and back pain, all ecgs were fine all blood tests fine chest x ray fine, also been to doctors who ran blood tests for everything including thyroid, liver, blood cell count and diabetes, blood clots. also had stool sample and urine test all fine.
Avatar n tn Do I have GERD or is it something else? Ive read about it and nausea isnt a symptom in most cases. The nausea is the main thing thats troubling me. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply I am currently on 2x Pantoprazole 20mg and 300mg Ranitidine. I have been really stressed both times my reflux started. They just seem to have no effect on me I have been avoiding all foods that koufman recommends.
1295419 tn?1276826472 Continual throat clearing Chronic throat irritation Chronic cough Hoarseness Excessive phlegm the throat Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) Constant sensation of something in the throat Swallowed food comes back up Post nasal drainage Weak voice Cracking voice Blockage of the breathing passage Spasm of the larynx (voice box) Wheezing Heartburn This condition is a result of both UES and LES not working correctly. And it is possible not to have typical gerd/acid reflux symptoms.
Avatar m tn Once you've lost some weight and eat a fibre-heart-healthy-diet and exercise, your bowels will become regular and you may not even suffer from GERD related symptoms! It is all worth the try and stick with the diet and program until you are at a much healthier weight. Then, if you still suffer from food getting stuck and GERD symptoms, then please DO have an Endoscopy and find out what is going on inside your body.
Avatar n tn Now, two years later my gastritis symptoms have come back (heartburn and nausea), and I read somewhere that I can take omeprazole AND ranitidine on the same day (but not the same time) so I've been taking the 20 mg Omeprazole in the am before breakfast and a 75mg ranitidine in the pm before dinner, which has worked quiet well.
1533915 tn?1292330750 2 months ago I woke up at 3am and could hardly breath. I had 4 glasses of wine the night before, too much chocolate and also potato chips (bad, I know...). I woke up my heart was racing, and I was lying perfectly horizontal, and super thirsty. I also immediately had to go to the bathroom (#2 and #1) and did so for the next 3 hours ever 20 minutes. No diarrhea, just normal regular BMs. You could set your clock. After that, it was only #1 every 20 minutes for another 4 hours.
Avatar n tn My husband was about your age when he woke up one morning with dry heaves that were horribly painful. About 20 minutes later, they stopped. The next morning, same thing. This went on for about 2 months before he went to the doc. He went through tons and tons of testing and they told him stress. He said, "NO WAY" but went on with life. It's been ten years and occasionally for "no" reason, he'll wake up with the dry heaves and it lasts for a week or two, then goes away.
Avatar n tn u need to find the root cause of ur gerd. I have a hiatal hernia.....and other health issues that cause my gerd. U will want to read the Health Pages here on MedHelp for diet and lifestyle tips.
