Avatar f tn Lymphnodes clear and had five weeks of radiation treatment. Tried Tomxifene but made me ill. Dr, recommended Raloxifene. does Raloxifene prevent the recurrance of my type of breast cancer? Marian This discussion is related to Aromatase vs. Raloxifene.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start Raloxifene. This may cause hot flashes. If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes. I have been reading such negative information about the side effects of Effexor, and even worse, the are withdrawal symptoms if you have to get off of it. Is there anyone reading this that actually had to take effexor along with Raloxifene? If so, could you tell me please if you had a good, or bad experience? Thank you for any input.
Avatar n tn eat less carbohydrates; drink less alcohol; eat more vegetables, protein and the right fats; drink raw vegetable juices; take a good liver tonic containing milk thistle to support your liver function; take N Acetyl L Cysteine (NAC) to support production of glutathione in the liver.
Avatar f tn The medications currently FDA approved as chemoprevention for breast cancer are tamoxifen and raloxifene. Decisions to use a medication as chemoprevention would be made based on weighing the risks and benefits to the individual patient.
394052 tn?1203100849 less evidence was found for raloxifene. the USPSTF found good evidence that both tamoxifen and raloxifene increase the risk of thromboembolitic events (stroke, DVT, PE). they found that tamoxifen increases the risk of endometrial CA. the USPSTF recommends screening for colon CA starting at age 50 in men and women. earlier screening recommendations depend on the patient, family history and medical conditions (ie they are different for conditions such as ulcerative colitis, etc).
5789562 tn?1374459029 Paracetamol should be taken exactly as prescribed to reduce the risks of experiencing life threatening side effects. I reversed my insulin resistance cutting out all refined sugar in my diet (my reason for insulin resistance). Although to add, my insulin resistance worsened and I developed pre diabetes due to hyperthyroidism. I have reversed both conditions. After a bad diet, the second most common cause of elevated cholesterol is untreated/not optimally treated hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn I then started to have migraines, which disabled me to the point of being able to do nothing except sleep for days. After jumping around from gyno to gyno, my mom figured I should go to an endocrinologist. After finding a wonderful doctor, turns out I have hypothyroidism, overactive adrenal glands and hormone imbalances. My TSH is 3.11, T3 is Free 3.43, and T4 is Free 1.17. I'm not exactly sure what normal levels are; my doctor just said that I have slight hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn Aside from radiation, you can ask your doctor about other breast cancer risk reduction strategies such as that of hormonal treatment with tamoxifen or raloxifene. Other breast conditions that may increase the risk of invasive cancer would include DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ). Regards.
Avatar f tn Use of Raloxifene is intended to decrease the risk of osteoporosis and to decrease the risk of invasise breast cancer or to prevent invasive breast cancer from retuning in women who have had invasive BC. If you have questions or concerns about using it, it would be best to discuss them with the physician who prescribed it. Best wishes...

Avatar n tn I have been told by Oncologist that have 5 times risk factor for breast cancer. Am on raloxifene. Last nite I noticed some dimpling on the biopsied breast abt 1" from incision scar. Just had a manual exam by the Oncologist and don't want to seem like a hypochondriac, but should I see him again. He felt nothing during manual exam, but the lump that was removed was not palpable either and only detected by mammo.
Avatar m tn By then I realised and panicked and removed the needle. Now I am afraid that, did the existing blood in the used vacucontainer go in my body( is it possible for blood to go from container to my vein ) ? And expose me to any infectious disease like HIV? I am very upset and worried.
Avatar f tn not necessarily. the increased thyroxine or t4 may some time get converted to reverse t3 which lowers your existing t3 and can actually result in more hypothyroid mode and even weight gain. it can also result in hyperthyroid state. take only the correct dose which make you neither hyperthyroid nor hypothyroid.
Avatar f tn Bio identical for menopause. I used to be on this board a long time ago, right after my thyroidectomy and got so much great advice. I think from you! And now, I'm going through menopause and I need hormones. I've been trying and trying to go without them, worried about all the cancer risks. But, a friend mentioned to me something about bioidentical hormones. I'm curious about them and if I can take them since I've had thyroid cancer.
Avatar f tn i also wanted to add that my gyno did the HSG and reported her findings to the RE. when he called it sounded like he was upset b/c my gyno did it and my insurance cover it as opposed to me paying him out of pocket. and he repeatly told me to call him when i start my next peroid to do the sonohysterogram not my gyno. so do u think my insurance will cover this sonohysterogram? also my tubes were open and the dye did spill out. were you able to conceive after you went thru all of this?

Avatar n tn Other forms of treatment post-operatively would include additional radiation therapy, or hormonal treatment with Tamoxifen or Raloxifene. All of these additional treatments are aimed to lessen the chance of recurrence as well as prevent the future development of frankly invasive cancers. Regards.
Avatar f tn What are the chances that I developed hpv due to this exposure and could that have possibly turned to anal cancer? Should I get an anal pap done from my gyno. Also, is it possible that if I DO have anal cancer am I already in too late of a stage for it to be treated successfully? I'm very worried, please I would appreciate some insight because the internet seems strangely scarce on info for anal cancer/hpv especially in women!
Avatar n tn Dear Dr. Burks, Two weeks ago, I visited a urologist with symptoms of bladder irritation (urgency, general discomfort). He performed the potassium test, and it was negative. (I tested negative for UTI with my gyno.) He's not ruled out IC and put me on a short list of dietary restrictions (no caffeine, no spicy foods, no alcohol, etc.), as well as a baking soda solution both morning and evening.
Avatar n tn In addition, women over the age of 35 with LCIS who are at treated at the Cancer Center have access to a similar drug, Raloxifene, that may also reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. Cancer Center physicians are participating in a clinical trial called STAR, where the effectiveness of Raloxifene is being compared to that of Tamoxifen for the prevention of breast cancer in high risk women.
7808258 tn?1394392781 I am ready to finally admit that I may need some professional help or simply just in general. I am what you call an empty shell simply existing in this world. The ironic thing is however, I help or assist people for a living; working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a care home. I fight this evil inside me, lurking deep within. I am talking about depression of course.
Avatar n tn It took forever to get an appointment with my gyno to discuss new birth control treatment, and once we found one, it has taken another 4 weeks to get it in from the pharmacy. I went yesterday to get my birth control under way and I took a prego test before getting started. It was positive. What danger am I facing now that I found out I'm about 4-5 weeks pregnant and I've been on coumadin? I know it can cause birth defects, but what kind of chance do I have of being lucky?
