Avatar f tn Lymphnodes clear and had five weeks of radiation treatment. Tried Tomxifene but made me ill. Dr, recommended Raloxifene. does Raloxifene prevent the recurrance of my type of breast cancer? Marian This discussion is related to Aromatase vs. Raloxifene.
Avatar f tn So I feel comfortable waiting for the flashes to settle down before trying the Raloxifene and if needed, Effexor. Dr also gave me a back-up prescr for Clonidine, which she says is good for flashes. I'm going to ask her about Celexa and Lexapro in lieu of Effexor. I don't want to take any of that cr*p. I always seem to get the bad side effects from any meds I try. The only bad thing about waiting to start the Evista is that I have already jumped from osteopenia to osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn A woman with ADH as well as other risk factors may have a risk that is high enough to consider medications. The medications currently FDA approved as chemoprevention for breast cancer are tamoxifen and raloxifene. Decisions to use a medication as chemoprevention would be made based on weighing the risks and benefits to the individual patient.
Avatar f tn My mom 50 yrs old underwent mastectomy in the right breast for 0.7cm DCIS In-Situ. The lymph nodes tested negative and they said lucily the cancer has not spread to any part of the body. (We were scared of lumpectomy because of the radiation follow-ups and also thinking the cancer might return) She has tested ER+ though. Is this something to be very worried of? Is there a chance of the cancer occuring in the other breast?
Avatar f tn 2weeks ago in followup they found 5*7mm mass and in coreneedle biopsy they found atypical hyperplasia and do surgery for exisional biopsy, and administer raloxifen, but i am not sure to use it because i know it dosen't affect on breast cancer or prevention of it what must i do?
Avatar f tn Aside from radiation, you can ask your doctor about other breast cancer risk reduction strategies such as that of hormonal treatment with tamoxifen or raloxifene. Other breast conditions that may increase the risk of invasive cancer would include DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ). Regards.

Avatar f tn Today I finally looked at it more closely and the inside lips of my flower are literately WHITE. I tried ph balanced lady wipes and it was okay for a little while. I decided to try a douche for the first time also and it burned a little and now I'm itchy again. What could be going on?!?!?

Avatar n tn I have been told by Oncologist that have 5 times risk factor for breast cancer. Am on raloxifene. Last nite I noticed some dimpling on the biopsied breast abt 1" from incision scar. Just had a manual exam by the Oncologist and don't want to seem like a hypochondriac, but should I see him again. He felt nothing during manual exam, but the lump that was removed was not palpable either and only detected by mammo.
Avatar m tn I had a reaction, got sick for one day, but the pain was gone for a week after that (not taking the Bactrim). After the pain came back, I was instructed to try the Bactrim again; got sick almost immediately, and again the pain was gone for a week. I have not taken the Bactrim since that one. Well, I finally got an ultrasound. I was informed that I had "a bit" of gynecomastia in the right nipple.
Avatar n tn Cancer Center physicians are participating in a clinical trial called STAR, where the effectiveness of Raloxifene is being compared to that of Tamoxifen for the prevention of breast cancer in high risk women. Your cancer center physician will be able to discuss each of these options with you in more detail, and help to guide your treatment decision to the one most appropriate for your specific situation. If you want further information please go to breastcancer.org the link is: http://www.
3115375 tn?1343777137 I can not wear tight pants or I get a stabbing pain in urethra and burning on outer part of vagina. I went to the hospital twice- tested for UTIs and they were negative and also have had 2 blood tests for all STD's which were all negative as well. Also, all pap smears negative for other STD's. The only thing that OBGYNs have found is an MRI found I have Adenomyosis and they've found yeast during pelvic exams- so they dismiss it as a yeast infection.
Avatar m tn Also I am witnessing libido problems (I can masturbate twice a day but my erections are not fuller and penis looks like it has shrunk), The place I live is also very cold with temp at night being -2 C(Can it also been an effect?) I am thinking about starting Tamoxifene for my Gyno, so need your advice and suggestions. I am student and dont have much money.

Avatar m tn Is it possible to contract herpes at the gynecologist's office (for example, from the table, or the equipment, or the gynecologist's fingers?
Avatar n tn The hormone therapy has so many side affects. The drugs suggested for me are Arimidex or Raloxifene. Is there anyone that does not take hormone therapy and is still doing well with no recurrance?
Avatar f tn I believe that you are a candidate for risk lowering strategies such as taking hormonal agents (raloxifene or tamoxifen), or surgery (mastectomy). All of these should be discussed with an oncologist or surgeon. Regards.
1067308 tn?1268259668 My mom and I both have ovarian cancer :-( I'm going through IP chemo right now for stage IIIC. Hers was also III, her first surgery and chemo were not quite two years ago and she's facing her first recurrence. Unfortunately its not looking like her gyno oncologist is going to be an option for surgery, she's moved out of the state where my mom lives and isn't covered on my mom's Medicaid.
Avatar f tn I'm 42 and have a history of cysts on ovaries. Partial hyst 5 years ago, usually cysts have been simple until 2 years ago. Another cyst, this time complex and solid and was removed. Thought all was good but now again, ovary pain, severe at times since Jan of 07. Actually went to hospital then and CT revealed no cysts problem, gall looked good. Oh, appendix is gone also! The pain has been getting worse and I didn't go to my Gyno last year because I'm chicken and tired of surgeries.
511985 tn?1227778153 I have been bleeding now for 17 days. It's so heavy I can't wear tampons because I will soak a heavy one in 30 mins. I went to the gyno and with out doing any test tehy just put me on Ortho Cyclen birth control. They put me on the pill while I wass still bleeding to think I would stop all this bleeding but it did not. After starting the pill the next da I woke up in pain, it felt like I was being punched in the stomach and could not breath.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your comments... it's much appreciated! God bless you, too!
Avatar f tn You said you saw your gyno in April and he/she said everything was fine. Did you discuss the changes then? For the vast majority of women, our periods do take some bizzae twists and turns over the years and it's always best to let your gyno know. An out of character period could possibly indicate something is wrong. More often it's just messing with our heads, our plans, and our underpants!
Avatar f tn My old gyno I saw when I was younger suggested that I get a blood test for the HSV-1 and HSV-2 antibodies to tell whether or not these sores are caused by herpes or not. But I'm hesitant and here's why: Say I'm HSV-1 and HSV-2 negative, then great. . . these stupid sores on my vuvla aren't herpes. Say I'm HSV-1 pos and HSV-2 negative - this could mean I have herpes in my mouth OR have HSV - 1 on my genitals.
Avatar m tn Dear Experts, I am 29 years old male from India, Weight 83 kg, Height 166 cm. From the age of 11 i am suffering from gynecomastia (chest is like a woman). My parents are not educated and they don't know anything about that and they thought it was due to i am fatty for that age than other children of same age. Till now i am feeling shy to remove my shirt while going to swimming pool, and in front of friends, relatives.
Avatar m tn She is now just getting over it. Her gyno suggested it was HSV2 hence the reason for testing. This is pretty confusing for both of us, just looking for some answers. Could it be that her tests were false positive? Thanks for reading...
