Avatar n tn I wanted to say how sorry I'am for your you and your sister. I have no personal knowledge on your question I'm hoping someone will have some answers for you. Try posting your question up in the ask a dr forum. Good luck and best wishes to you and your sister.
Avatar n tn There are also a few women on there who have been treated for cervical cancer, had hysterectomy and continue to deal with HPV. Best wishes to you!
Avatar f tn Ovarian cancer is not associated with cervical cancer. However after a radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer, the preserved ovaries are more likely to produce big ovarian cysts. This may be due to the altered blood supply to the ovaries after hysterectomy. Also when removing ovaries as a second surgery after hysterectomy, there is more scar tissue and more chance of a remnant syndrome. I agree with Neta. If you are not getting a satisfactory reccomendation, please get a second opinion.
Avatar n tn I've heard various things, but what will always stick with me is this: Years ago during a normal pap smear appointment (when I had all of my body parts) the doctor said that sadly women think that after a hysterectomy they don't need a pap smear. Her concern was Vaginal cancer (not as common but something to be vigilant about checking). I have a pap smear once a year since my radical hysterectomy. I have heard a recommendation of two years, too. I had everything removed in 2000.
Avatar f tn In 2000 I had a radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer, in 2004 I had a mesh repair for pelvic collapse which was suppose to correct my chronic constipation. It did not work then in 2006 I had a partial colectomy which worked for the chronic constipation. But with in the last year I have been experiencing frequent violent vomiting and abdominal pain. In the last month its increase to once a week to now every other day. I have no insurance and need to know what I should do.
Avatar f tn Can a women still get cervical cancer after having a hysterectomy? I may have to have a hysterectomy and have been told that I would never get cervical cancer if I did have the surgery?
Avatar f tn s hard to judge but has anyone had the experience of it rising and being free of conditions in cancer. Yes, I had cervical cancer and since had a colectomy, a radical hysterectomy, an oopherectomy and an appendicitis! I have a surgery in July to remove this mass in my adnexal area ( they don't know if it is a part of the ovary or next to! My dr.
Avatar f tn I would give big $$$ to have my organs back. Hysterectomy is grossly overused in the U.S. Only 2% are done for a cancer diagnosis. I know Australia has a fairly high rate of unnecessary hysterectomies too. Many ovarian cysts, even complex ones, resolve on their own. Since yours is so small (2 cm) it would seem reasonable to monitor it. And if it does need to end up being surgically removed, you should not need to lose your ovary if the cyst is non-cancerous.
Avatar n tn I have just been told today that after a routine smear test they found mild discariosis cells. I was listening to my doctor but i still dont really understand what it means. She says that they will probably go away on their own and to wait 6months for another smear test. Is this the right thing to be doing?
Avatar f tn it was not until that tissue was looked at did they find the cancer. stage 1b1. I am actually scheduled for a radical hysterectomy tomorrow!! The pap is not 100% if its not pappped in the exact spot sometimes the cancer can be missed. Also I bleed and ended up in the hosp after the biopsy cause i had a few bleeders.. I would go see doc and get silver nitrate and that honey paste stuff to stop the bleeding. Good luck.
1043568 tn?1253450188 I am 54 years old and I was still pretty regular before the Tamoxifen. My gynecologist is recommending that I get a radical (abdominal) hysterectomy since I am still having periods. I had a D&C last year and had a benign polyp removed. Just had a trans-vaginal ultrasound 2 weeks ago and everything was fine.
Avatar f tn I am pregnant with twins at 21 weeks pregnant n have cervical cancer they want to deliver my babys early n do a hysterectomy on me what should i do
Avatar n tn I do think that Ovarian Cancer and Near-Cervical Cancer are isolated incedents. But, having said that, what I was refering to as far as the two being connected is the fact that some practitioners believe that too much Estrogen (and not in balance with Progesterone) can cause the problems that I had. It is a theory of course, but it was also the assumption in my case. But, then, I was older than you at the time of my Dx.
Avatar f tn The DaVinci Robot adds a helpful tool for complex surgery such as radical cancer surgery (radical hysterectomy) or surgery on people who may be challenging because of their size (very over weight).
20795800 tn?1509581846 I had signs of HPV the kind that leads to cervical cancer- i HAD A dysplasia on my cervix and a burning procedure where it was sent out to see if it was malignant in stage 2 at one gyno- but the new gyno didnt know until just now- what should I do? he seemed concern but at the same time I already have stage 3 breast cancer- i'm thinking a whole hysterectomy.

Avatar n tn I had a pap smear done that came back questionable and she wants to do a radical hysterectomy. But before she does that, she said to go back to my Oncologist and have her put me on Progesterone Therapy before doing a radical hysterectomy. Well...my Oncologist said , "NO" and did not offer me an explantation. She just said to ask my OB/GYN. I left there frustrated. I don't want cancer again, but what do I do now?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response! i got HPV many years ago (1996) which turned into cervical cancer. Had a radical hysterectomy. And they took 24 nodes all neg. originally the radiologist said they thought the positive or (max) FDG uptake on the PET, was due to reoccurrence of the cervical cancer but my gynecological 5ndvw-***@**** said it could not be due to that because I had been free of cancer for, what? 15 years. The chance of reoccurrence was almost non existent.
Avatar f tn I had a PET scan over a week ago. My history is cervical cancer and I had a radical hysterectomy with radiation and chemo two years ago. I have been having PET Scans every 6 months. My most recent PET scan showed a tumor on my spine that my doctor said was the cancer recurring? She said it was "hot" How can she say it is cancer when we haven't done a biopsy? I would think that a most definite diagnose would be to have a biopsy. Can you give me your input on this.
Avatar f tn I am a very healthy 46 year old. I have 3 children and don't want anymore. I have had the mirena in for 10 years now and was looking for advice on a possible hysterectomy. I've only once had slight endometriosis before I started having my babies, over 17 years ago. No history of cancer, no heavy bleeding, no fibroids etc. I also haven't noticed any drastic menopause symptoms - no sweats, no mood swings etc.
Avatar n tn Just had radical hysterectomy for the same left side vaginal/pelvic pain that also radiated up left abdominal area even with belly button on left side. (Very painful in crease of left leg!!) Unbearable after sex or during my period.
543791 tn?1216381777 Several months ago I rec'd a bad pap, THe pap showed mildly abnormal, but the Colposcopy came back advanced adenocarsioma. So I was referred to an Oncologist who performed a conization. Since then I have had 2 clean pap smears and next month my oncologist will release me back to my regular OBGYN. They has stated they want me to have a radical hysterectomy once I had children. It's my understanding that the type of cells that I had are sporatic and more agressive.
Avatar n tn So glad to hear you avoided hysterectomy! Thanks for posting your experience! Yes, hysterectomy IS a destructive surgery displacing bladder and bowel (uterus separates and keeps them where they belong) as well as spine, hips, and rib cage since the uterine ligaments are the pelvis' support structures. Thankfully, you had an ethical and honest medical professional. I was not so lucky and am now suffering the many adverse effects of hysterectomy and ovary removal.
Avatar f tn I had bladder cancer and needed surgery asap. Radical hysterectomy was done along removing my bladder. I had a urostomy done the same time. It's been a 1-1/2 years since my surgery n the vagina discharge never stopped. Doctor cauterize me but still have it and noticed today discharge was slightly green with a foul order. Is this common? I'm worried sick.
Avatar f tn A year back my mother had cervical cancer stage 1B but she had a radical hysterometry and now exactly after 1 year she has bleeding from her anus(fresh red blood).  Its been about 2 weeks now its not in great quantity just a little bit. Could this be related to her cervical cancer? Is this serious? God forbid if it is related to her cervical is it curable ?! Please help me and answer as much as you can for me. I'm very depressed about this.
Avatar m tn For women who have no success with other treatments and have completed their families or made the decision that the potential for future fertility is not vital, radical surgery may be the best option. With radical surgery the uterus (hysterectomy) and ovaries (oophorectomy) are removed. After hysterectomy alone (i.e. without removal of the ovaries), there is a significant chance that endometriosis will recur; 10-15% of women had recurrence after 1-3 years and 40-50% after 5 years.
