242912 tn?1660619837 Hi Everyone, I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping. If I do sleep, I wake up in a sweat and have to change my clothes. This is more likely due to menopause rather than smoking w/d, but whatever it is, I was starting to think last night, all night, that just that "one" would help. I know this isn't true, but the thoughts wouldn't stop. It's probably happening because I'm just laying there all miserable. Normally, I would go outside and smoke.

Avatar n tn I know this is going to sound trite, but you CAN stop smoking if you truly WANT to. I used to feel just like you, do a Rip Van Winkle and sleep through the cravings and withdrawals. I can't tell you how many times I gave into that crave just 15 minutes after I said that this was my last one! That's because I really didn't want to quit. After smoking for 40 years and using an inhaler for the last 5 of my smoking years, I decided that it was time.
1718855 tn?1401756839 Rush I quit smoking about 5 years ago. I had to. I had both legs clogged. aorta by pass.and corroded artery .Smoking narrows the arteries and blood viens. which causes VERY poor circulation. That's what's wrong with my feet. They feel like I'm walking on needles and burn like fire. One leg is 70% blocked now. I'm telling you all this so you will stay strong and quit. I smoked for 60 years. I can't remember a time when I didn't have one in my hand.
Avatar m tn There is no magic pill or miracle anything that you can take to make you stop. Any aid will help you, but in the end, most of the things made to help you quit, can also bring about an addiction to the very product! If you truly want to quit, you can do it. Put the cigarettes down and do things that will keep your mind and hands occupied. The physical withdrawal is over in 72 hours. Support is important to maintain your quit and you need strength to fight off the urges.
