Avatar f tn I decided to join this forum today as it is my Quit day. Long story but I started smoking at 15 and I will be 36 on the 16th. My husband quit cold turkey at Christmas. I am taking Chantix. I started it once before and it was starting to work but I didn't stick with it. This time I am dedicated to never smoking again. I have had a hard time in the past becuase I feel sooo sick the first couple of days and I hate that feeling. This time I have decided to just deal with it.
380558 tn?1309042387 hey congrats on the 3 weeks.... i think you and i quit on the same day if i'm not mistaken... great job... good luck with the smoking thing too!
Avatar f tn I slowly quit. Id only have 3 cigs a day, four if out was a bad day. I haven't had one for about 3 months. I still want to smoke, but I no longer feel the need to so it's a lot easier.
Avatar f tn I am a smoker and I am trying to quit I'm down to five a day or six. Any of y'all have trouble quitting. Any tips or things that would help?
Avatar f tn Has anyone else quit? I did the day those 2 lines showed up on that stick almost 3 months ago. I still crave cigarettes and I'm wondering when that will go away!
Avatar n tn I started smoking at the age of 18 and now I'm 42.I smoke 15 to 20 cigarettes a day. I want to get rid of my addiction. But how? Please help...
1069644 tn?1276928863 Hi, congratulations on day 1. Listen, I see you have Fibro, I do too and when I quit smoking all that pain decreased by a good percentage so consider that something to look forward to besides the obvious :) Also, start yourself a tracker for your quit. Seeing the number of days add up will be a big psychological help. I found writing my thoughts in my journal was a big release too. Good luck to you!! Anytime you need to vent, just post away.
Avatar f tn It took me a week to quit when I found out I was pregnant. I was about 6 weeks. During that week I have myself a limit , starting with 3-4 a day and going down to a couple drags a day then none. I still every now & then will have a drag of my boyfriends cigarette. I'm 13+3. The way I look at it, every cigarette you don't smoke is helping your baby be healthy. Quiting is the best thing you can do for your little squishy.
Avatar f tn Honestly, there isn't much you can do aside from trying to relax. Maybe take a warm bath or even a nap if it gets to be too much. I was a smoker for 6 years, and I found out I was pregnant with my first when I was 7 weeks 2 days along. I finished out the pack I had and never bought another, and let me tell you life was hell and I was a raging b word for a good week or more, but once it was out of my system I felt great.
Avatar f tn I smoke 3 maybe 4 a day. I cant completely quit but I cut back a lot, compared to my pre pregnancy where i smoked a pack a day.
Avatar f tn Congratulations so very proud of you!! I smoked before I was pregnant but quit when I found out, I didn't smoke not even one the first 7 months of my pregnancy, but then I started getting stressed and I broke down and started smoking one a day =/ but I'm now 38 weeks and haven't smoked one in about a month! Sunflower seeds worked miracles for me!! I think I'm more addicted to sunflower seeds now than what I was to cigs lol! But good luck and keep up the good work!
Avatar f tn I hid it so well but was dying inside, I am proud to say I am on day 4 and planned to quit smoking in a month...one habit at a time...good luck everyone! P.S. I shared with everyone my dirty secret two weeks before i stopped. We need a support system!
1422823 tn?1287679280 Hello there- I had 3 level diskectomy on July 8th and I quit smoking about a week before surgery and started again a month post opt. I have healed really well and I'm not a heavy smoker about 3-6 smokes a day. Depending on the day!!! I am having chiari surgery on Nov. 4th I am planning to try to quit about 2 weeks before but I just get so scared that smoking is the only thing to relax me. I know it's wrong I just enjoy it. I'm not sure if that helped.
Avatar n tn With my 1st i smoked up until 15 weeks or so i smoked atleast a pack a day if not 2 also smoked weed and drank be4 i found out quit smoking weed and drinking when i found out i was pregnant but took me awhile to cut out the cigs. Daughter is healthy and beautiful...

Avatar f tn I totally understand you! Im 19 weeks and I'm trying to quit aswell. I only smoke a puff or 2 a day but i can't seem to just quit. Its sooo hard but we should do it for the baby!
Avatar f tn I'm now pregnant with my 3rd child. My last one was 13 yrs ago. My other pregnancies I was much younger and able to quit within a couple weeks if knowing. This time I'm 14 weeks and still struggling to quit. Me losing my job 3 weeks ago hasn't helped. Now I'm always home without distraction, so I find myself smoking more. I want to quit! I've tried gum, nicorette, cough drops, and e-cigs. I get more than your typical angry or irritable without a cigarette.
Avatar m tn YES i too have stopped smoking and am on day 7 of that (about 20 something of opiates) and I do have cravings and have had wds from nicotine, but they just don't seem so bad in comparison...
Avatar f tn I just gave myself a date and said this day will be my last day smoking. Then I rationed the rest of my cigarettes by like 3-2-2-2-1-1 (a day) then i just stopped. I still struggle with it everyday and it's been over three months since it quit. Good luck mama! You can do it!
Avatar f tn I did with my now 9yr old & he has zero problems now..super healthy & smart kiddo..
1262435 tn?1270311859 Smoking also nearly doubles the risk of ischemic stroke.3 Smoking acts synergistically with other risk factors, substantially increasing the risk of CHD. Smokers are also at increased risk for peripheral vascular disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, and many other chronic diseases. Cigarette smoking is the single most alterable risk factor contributing to premature morbidity and mortality in the United States, accounting for approximately 430 000 deaths annually.
Avatar f tn I tried everything to quit smoking and finally did at 22 weeks. im now 26w3d and its so nice to say i quit. I tried everything to quit and i guess after my ultrasound it hit me that i really needed to try n quit once n fer all not just fer a day or two. I ended up quiting cold turkey and asked for my husbands help. He smokes. I wouldnt have any lighters cigs or money to buy em around the house and picked up a new habit. Going on walks....im here fer u if u need someone to talk to. Thatll help.
Avatar f tn I quit completely soon as I found out I was pregnant actually literally the same day I took a home test n it was positive but I didn't get any withdrawal symptoms or sore throat n I was a heavy cig smoker but ig every one is different I don't plan on starting back once the baby is here either but good luck n congrats :)
Avatar f tn I still continued to smoke for a couple of days, but only a couple of puffs from my husbands cigarette 2-3 times a day, then I looked online about the effects off smoking whilst pregnant and quit straight away! There are times when I would like a cigarette but I care for my unborn baby a million times more than a dirty fag! Honestly the best thing you can do is quit, every time you smoke your babies tiny heartbeat has to beat extremely fast as it struggles for oxygen!
Avatar f tn i wish u luck if ur trying to quit as it is better if u quit pregnant or not smoking isnt good and im also trying to quit=)
Avatar f tn I quit smoking 5 days ago and I am feeling like my breathing is somewhat shallow. Also, my lungs feel like they are being squeezed, I dont really know any other way to describe it. Also, in my upper back area, pretty much opposite my lungs, hurts as well. Is all of these symptoms normal for quitting smoking? I havent started the horrible coughing stage yet but my lungs do feel like stuff is loosening in them. Sort of like bronchitis. Does anyone know when that will start as well?
