408901 tn?1274687198 When i went back to work i could not keep up with the pumping at work or even pumping at home to store milk, so i made the choice to breastfeed when i get off work until its time to go back to work and she gets formula while im at work. She will be 4 months friday and im thinking to switch her to strictly formula around 5 or 6 months.
9842459 tn?1411688168 What I would recommend is exclusive breastfeeding for as long as you don't have to work. Once you go back to work, breastfeed your baby right before you leave and right when you get back. Pump if you're gone more than four hours. Pump between feeds in the beginning to establish a supply. But when you're not working, feed from the breast. It's better that way for a lot of reasons.
8489354 tn?1405627762 s have to work for the milk when nursing and bottle feeding is no work and they get frustrated n refuse breast if u start too early. However, I did start pumping after 2 weeks to help my milk supply increase. I just waited after 30 days to introduce bottle.
Avatar f tn If you want the milk to go away then you need to stop pumping, pumping will cause your body to continue making milk. Tips to help dry up your milk is don't drink very much for a few days and don't take any hot showers,if they start to hurt cabbage leaves can help. good luck!
7845638 tn?1395841467 I'm not sure I was never able to breastfeed my daughter. I think i have heard some women tho do get milk even before baby arrives. But im not sure.
Avatar f tn Oh and she is only 38 weeks 2 days
Avatar f tn Talk to a lactation consultant. Mine suggested starting to pump and use bottles occasionally at 4-6 weeks of age since for some reason that's when they're most likely to be able to learn how. Don't worry about "nipple confusion" that's all a myth. But if they learn how to use a bottle early you don't have so much trouble later on.

6036387 tn?1395008183 I think tongue tied is when the skin on the bottom of the tongue is attatched more than it should be. My ex husband was born that way and the doctors just snipped the skin and he was able to nurse after that. In also having a hard time saving up a milk supply. I need to go back to work in 3 weeks and I can't seem to pump enough so that I can send the baby to child care with breast milk.
689528 tn?1364135841 I started pumping just a bit at first then more when my DD started on solid food so my milk stayed the same. Then when or if you go back to work, you can pump during the day and BF at night. It also might be a good idea to start pumping and giving him a bottle of it once in a while so he gets used to that too so you can be away from him when you need to later on. My DD took bothe very well that way. Good luck!
1149221 tn?1304827966 Is anyone else pumping and really getting tired of it? After the hospital made him have a bottle he would never take the breast so I have to pump. I am really getting tired of it. I just feel guilty if he has to have formula all the time (he gets it 2-3 times a day) plus pumping is free. I just find it so hard to take 30 minutes every 3 hours to pump. By the time I'm done both my boys are upset and I have to calm them both down. I just don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn well i hope i can get milk from pumping as i have no choice but to go back to work.. crazzy how ur body just supplies for ur baby though when hes right on the boob!!
7801868 tn?1395885718 I want to start pumping more often to increase my supply so that way if i go somewhere i have milk put aside. Tonight i plan on having a few drinks and already have enough milk pumped for that. I find i dont get much when i pump, maybe 3 oz total from both boobs. I almost exclusively bf. How can i increase the amount im pumping? Any tips to help with pumping? Best times to pump?
Avatar f tn m trying everything lol and I use the pump a little more then breast feeding but I just went back to just breast feeding because I think it helps with my milk production as well
Avatar f tn I gave my son a pacifier while still at the hospital & fed him a bottle at 2 weeks & he did just fine going back & forth from bottle or paci to breast. I'm more wondering if I'll still have colostrum at birth if I pump it now or will it change to milk?
Avatar f tn Hy I had my son 7wks ago, I started with breast feeding but could produce enough to feed him, so started mix feed pumping breast milk abouy 3wks ago, now when I can go days without pumping but I still have very little milk enough to stiil need leaking pads, anyway I saw my Dr he said it was no point in getting tablet to produce more milk, my son is doing great on formula so, I should just let it dry up, he said going back on the Pill would fix it and gave me a script for Brenda which I use to be
9442948 tn?1406816451 I forgot why that is important but I looked it up somewhere and found out when I had to pump and go back to work.
7541631 tn?1405945993 The more the baby eats the more you produce.. my lactation consultant advised pumping halfway between feedings.. for example if your baby nurses every 3 hours, pump every hour and a half.. that will stimulate the production of more milk..
Avatar f tn By pump do you mean pumping breast milk? The first liquid that comes out of the breast is colostrum not milk which is vital in aiding a healthy strong immune system in new borns.
Avatar f tn Thats weird because my doctor said nipple stimulation and breast Pumping provokes contractions because your body releases a hormone that causes contractions. I was just breast Pumping the other night and i started to get contractions.
Avatar f tn You can always call your obgyn and explain what you have in your post and ask him if it would be more beneficial to keep pumping over the next 10 days or if you can go ahead and let your milk dry up now.
Avatar f tn I got the hang of it, and only pump 4 times a day (I started pumping at 7 weeks, right before I went back to work), my milk stash is definitely built up, and my supply is leveled out. Trust me mama, your body and your breast know exactly what they'll need to do!
Avatar f tn I am goingback to work 3 weeks after baby is born doing light duty. Are there any special tips to keep my milk flowing, or to bring it in faster and bump up how much I can pump each time?
296076 tn?1371334474 D I would like to breast feed for as long as I can maybe 9 - 12 months. I planned on only 3 months, but we will have to see how things go when I go back to work again.
422823 tn?1229736847 Never combine the cold milk with warm breast milk, so each time you will have to store one bottle (or the breast milk bags are good too)....once the milk is cold you can combine them. Whoa...off track, sorry! After I put the milk away I would wash the plastic nipple attachments and the other bottle. I used hot soapy water, then just set out to dry. At the end of the day you can steam everything. The tubing I would steam once a week, as no milk ever gets into that part.
Avatar f tn Pumping doesn't stimulate milk production like natural breastfeeding does. Try hand stimylating with pumping every hour, using warm rags around your breast to make the let down reflex easier, and eating certain foods and even some teas can help the body produce milk.
