Pumping breast milk not working

Common Questions and Answers about Pumping breast milk not working

milk

Avatar f tn With my first, I was able to take the 3 months off but that will not be the case this time around. I want to breastfeed but how often do I need to pump to keep producing milk? It's going to be kind of hard to do it around work and I work 10 hours a day.
1149221 tn?1304827966 You need to keep working with him getting him to take breast. Pumping is exhausting. My daughter just had a baby girl in July. She did the same thing, but Miranda would not give up. She worked tirelessly with her trying to get her to nurse. It took a while, but she finally got it. I am sure the hospital had a reason to give the bottle. Usually its because the baby's blood sugar has dropped and a bottle is better than an IV. But one bottle would not cause nipple confusion.
Avatar f tn Idk if its just the breast pump I purchased that ***** or if im not producing enough milk.. I bought an evenflo electric pump from Wal-Mart it was only $60 so I didnt expect it to be amazing but at least get the job done. My baby usually drinks about 3 oz of milk when I pump and I can barely get that from one breast.
Avatar f tn Pumping doesn't stimulate milk production like natural breastfeeding does. Try hand stimylating with pumping every hour, using warm rags around your breast to make the let down reflex easier, and eating certain foods and even some teas can help the body produce milk.
Avatar f tn Anyone else having the problem of having too much for baby to swallow? I am currently trying to breast feed and pump when she is done eating, still can't keep up with all the milk I have. Any suggestions? My boobs are getting HARD to manage/touch.
Avatar f tn I would not recommend pumping before your milk supply comes after the baby is born it could cause you to go into preterm labor. I'm having my second and after my first I never stopped lactating even when I stopped breastfeeding. I still would leak collosum (don't know if that is spelled right) especially when he would cry.
8526246 tn?1405601876 How long after pumping is breast milk good for without refrigerating or do I have to refrigerate right away? I want to pump and feed without having to refrigerate and thaw but not sure if its not ok to do so.
Avatar f tn When do breast milk starts coming out the breast I had my baby on the 29th no milk still
14975014 tn?1437675913 U can't pump before hand because ur milk doesn't come in until a few days after birth. When u first have ur baby u will produce colostrum which is packed with nutrients.
Avatar f tn t work anymore so I threw it away. It actually lasted through 2 babies and my working and pumping full time. It was not meant for frequent use either. Infact on the box, it said that this was for a part time working mom or a mom that would only be away occasionally. So the fact that it lasted as long as it did and through as many pumping sessions as it did, I thought was pretty good. I haven't been able to find that same model in stores again. Maybe online??
Avatar f tn I am going to try pumping for baby as regular breast feeding is not an option. I ordered a medela double electric pump and it should be here within the next 10 days. I am excited to try pumping as I never thoughof this option with my other two. Is it safeto try it out for a few minutes just to see how it works and what it feels like?
Avatar n tn I exclusively pump and feed because my baby wouldn't latch. In the beginning pump every 2 hours (mimick babies feeding schedule as if you were breast feeding). Although in personally only pumped twice during the night (once at 12, once at 2) then when my baby got up for the day I did my next one. Drink tons of water, eat oatmeal with almond milk, eat properly in general. You can also try fenugreek pills, mothers milk tea, brewers yeast, or domperidone (which is a prescription drug).
Avatar f tn You can give formula while pumping to breast feed but like others said it will be hard to keep up milk supply. Make sure to get the right pump, my first wouldnt latch so I had to pump but I lost my milk by 8 weeks and had to supplement with formula the whole time. Turns out I didnt have the right type of pump and didnt do it enough. I thought I would have problems having a baby breastfeed but my son did and I actually found pumping more awkward.
Avatar f tn I lost most of my milk because I was not pumping as often as I should have and now I have almost no milk, is it possible to get my milk supply back up????
Avatar f tn With my first child I did breast feeding for a year, but when I tried transitioning her from breast to bottle, it was A PAIN! She refused to take the bottle, so now I want to try to do both.. I bought a breast pump, so I'm wondering how does the whole freezing your milk process work? How long is it good for? How do you unfreeze it? Or boil it? Thank you for your time!
3588173 tn?1357317184 Will my supply dry up if im only pumping every 3 hours during the day n not getting up at night to pump?
7058746 tn?1393435420 I had my baby last week 31weeks 5 days and started pumping and I get alot of milk and I just freeze take it to.
Avatar f tn well u can take pills to help ull have to ask ur doc and pumping before and after each feeding may help! my milk decreased from not pumping and useing a nipleshield and i never got it back to were it had been but it was enuff ! just talk to ur doctor..
7923170 tn?1412999504 Keep feeding baby and pumping at regular times to prevent ur breasts from getting engorged. The best way to relieve engorgement is to feed baby or pump, especially in the beginning since ur body is working OT to make milk and hasn't found its "groove" to make milk at a steady pace. Besides the pain from breastfeeding goes away after the first few times if baby is latching on correctly. Goodluck!!
6763424 tn?1426255108 Can anybody give me ideas on how to get more milk when pumping manually?
Avatar f tn I have weird OCD anxiety and the thought of breastfeeding seriously terrifies me so I has hoping I could pump from day one so my child can still have breast milk without me having a panic attack.
Avatar n tn Ok so with my first Pregnancy my drs told me that one of my breasts was underdeveloped and wouldn't produce milk so we went straight to bottle. Three days later I had milk in both breasts!!! I tried but my daughter wouldn't latch after that long. I'm very interested in breastfeeding with this baby but my daughter is 3 now and my sister breastfeeds my niece and my daughter literally freaks out... gets mad... tries to breastfeed off of anyone with breasts and has nightmares.
