Pumping breast milk manual pump

Common Questions and Answers about Pumping breast milk manual pump

milk

Avatar f tn I used a double electric pump and would pump for 15 minutes every 3 hours. I would pump every 3 hours during the morning and the night until he was about 4 months. Then I continued to pump every 3 hours just during the day. That was always enough to feed him and I didn't have to supplement with formula. I didn't think it was difficult at all. I would just turn the TV on or be on my smartphone while I pumped. I recommend you drink lots of water to keep your supply up.
Avatar f tn Manual didnt work for me. My breast never llet milk go with a pump. I sometimes used my hands directly. But when baby fed iit was like milk waterfall. I always thought that was weird.
Avatar f tn I've been trying to do some research on it all, bc I'm a firm believer in providing breast milk for my baby. However I'm at a lost on what kind of pump to use and what bottles to use. I plan to breast feed that first 4-6 weeks. Then start pumping in between meals since I will be going back to college in the Fall. So what do you recommend manual pump vs. electric, what brand, what bottles did you prefer to use pump in one bottles, your basic bottle or bottle with drop in bags.
Avatar f tn m planing on breastfeeding my baby for as long as the baby wants it and was looking at breast pumps I was gona buy tommy tippee manual one but I read some bad reviews. the Phillips avent 1 is getting good reviews and the Mam manull pump.so for mums who used manual pump which would u recommend.I'm not planing on pumping milk much just when going out, which won't be everyday.
Avatar f tn I just bought mine and I loved it. You pump more than you think! Especially when all that milk comes in. Breast feeding really is the best. The first two weeks are hard and kind of painful, but it will get better! Good luck!
Avatar f tn I'm thinking about getting a manual Avent breast pump just cuz I have Avent bottles lol but what are your opinions on manual breast pumps?? What do you prefer?
Avatar f tn I hated pumping but my pump is a good one... Madela Pump In Style Advanced. I only used it if I had to be out of town for work and leave my son milk. Otherwise...I took him everywhere and breastfed.
15278049 tn?1441989239 I breastfed exclusively for 4 months. I spent $200 on an electric breast pump. I hated pumping, it took soooooooo much longer to get milk out (honestly pumped for 6 hours to get 60ml).. Breastfeeding was 10,000× easier/better for me than pumping. But everyone is different.
Avatar f tn m trying to figure out what type of breast pump to get, a manual or electric. Any of you ladies breastfeeding? What type of breast pump are you getting?
6763424 tn?1426255108 Massage your breast and pump manually every four to six hours. It gives your breast time to produce milk. Also drink plenty of milk and water and take you prenatal vitamins still.
Avatar f tn If you are only pumping you need a certain kind that makes sure to encourage you milk supply to replenish. Also for my breasts I need to buy different shields than comes with it as they are not big enough and cause a lot of pain. So if you are worried about the size not working for you find one that sells other size sheilds you can place in. I use Medela for this reason.
Avatar f tn Idk if its just the breast pump I purchased that ***** or if im not producing enough milk.. I bought an evenflo electric pump from Wal-Mart it was only $60 so I didnt expect it to be amazing but at least get the job done. My baby usually drinks about 3 oz of milk when I pump and I can barely get that from one breast.
2021990 tn?1398838140 I felt devastated as if he hates me or something else. I bought three different types of milk pump-manual, and other two electronic one just to get my milk for him. Overall he only latched on for about five times, butmy milk supply had last for about three months. I had done my very best to breastfeed but things won't go according to what I had planned. When I think back about how I reacted felt and stressed, I am simply relaxing myself without worry about bf or not to him.
Avatar f tn It depends on if you are exclusively pumping or going to breastfeed and pump. I've heard manual is best if nursing too. I couldn't nurse since baby was too premature so I exclusively pumped for a whole year and had enough milk left over frozen for a few months past his 1 yr bday. I used the Medela pump n style and it was the best pump I've ever used. Got the job done in 15 minutes and it is a double pump. I got a hands free bustier and would read a magazine while I pumped.
10052319 tn?1408978714 I loved my medela manual! I had a double electric and a manual and I always got more milk with the manual :) so I'm not even bothering getting an electric one this time, just getting the manual again!
408496 tn?1269603350 I think I am going to get a manual pump to pump for while I am at home and then if I still think I am going to pump - I will get the medela.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure which pump fits all bottles. I ended drying up when I was pumping with my son because he had a cleft pallet and wouldn't latch on. So pumping wasn't enough for my breast to keep producing. I bought the Nuk electric pump this time. I have heard all good things about it and Nuk is my favorite baby product brand.
408496 tn?1269603350 I am only going to have minimal time to pump at work, so I was thinking I needed something other than manual pump. Does anyone has any reccomendations? Which pump did you use and what did you like/not like about it? Double / single? Please help I am a new mom!
9571159 tn?1419571005 I'm going manual!! The electirc ones make my boobs go a weird shape afterwards and make my boobs hurts!!
8222051 tn?1408285093 I got a pump so I could store extra milk. Plus if you pump and nurse from the beginning it will help boost your milk supply.
Avatar f tn The avent manual breast pump worked really well for me. I was able to pump a good 3-4 ozs from each breast within a matter of minutes. and, although it has a lot of pieces, it's very easy to take apart and clean. I highly recommend!
Avatar f tn I used a breast pump, even though my lactation consultant suggested not using a pump for the first few weeks, after I got my milk in I always pumped and used a bottle, and it made it so DH could feed the baby, it was quicker for night feedings, and so much easier on me and my son not having to go through the stress of latching on. I used an electric, it's quick, painless (a little uncomfortable, but not painful), and totally worth it!
Avatar n tn I want you breast feed and pump. I will probably buy the manual one.
Avatar f tn My first one I had just a single breast pump and it got time consuming using it on both breasts!! Before I found out medicaid covered a breast pump I got a manual playtex one and it sucked too!!
Avatar f tn I pumped every 3 hours with a medela electric breast pump, even at night i set an Alarm BC milk supply is supply and demand, the more milk you demand the more you will make, so by day 4 i was making 70 ml per pumping. I still pump between breast feedings and i make 10oz per pumping.
561393 tn?1320962815 i had bought a electric pump after my manual pump broke(it was old from my sister in law) and hated it! i found that the manual pump gave me more control on the flow and i ws able to pump more faster... i ended up buying another avent pump and i wouldnt use any other kind! it was one of the most expensive but i LOVE it... i was mad to have waste the money of the other one, i thought i could have use the electric one on one side when i nursed from the other, it didnt work so well and was noisy!
Avatar f tn For those mom's who plan on breast feeding which brand pump are you using? Lansinoh or medela?
Avatar f tn Any information you can give on your experience using a breast pump? I herd manual ones are a pain and electric ones are better, but is it really worth the extra money? Also does it make your nipple sore from the suction similar to breast feeding?
7656727 tn?1404157447 s say im strictly breast feeding until im ready to leave him alone which ill still be breast feeding except for those few hours.. I shouldnt have the need to pump right? I got a manual pump bcuz I didnt think a electric one would be necessary since my plan is to have him eat from my breast. I was just a little confused because one of my friends feeds and pumps right after. And im not sure if thats how things are suppose to be done. I mean I know its up to everyone but that part confused me.
