Avatar f tn You have to be careful pumping the first month, not only can it make baby lazier about latching but it can dry your milk up, literally, overnight. I was pumping a LOT and woke up one morning and all of my milk was completely gone. I loved BF'ing, its a great bonding experience!
3158442 tn?1344311653 I know breast pumping/feeding is a great way to lose the post partum weight, I pumped for 2 weeks after I had my first baby last year, but I have decided not to this time, I don't have time to with a one year and a newborn lol but I have more weight on me than I did after my first so now I'm worried about not losing it as quickly or it staying and more weight adding on, so I'm wondering if I could try to start pumping a little here and there, its been 2 weeks today since I delivered
Avatar f tn What would u all suggest breast or bottle feeding because this is my 3rd baby and I wanna try pumping to lose weight and keep the baby healthy?
Avatar f tn Yes it does help you lose weight but smjmekg is right. You have to keep up your calorie intake to make sure your body produces milk. But it also helps your uterus return to its normal size.
9442948 tn?1406816451 m at work and slowly weening him off bottle and just breast milk twice a day to once a day. Talk to your doctor about it too, because mine agreed this was a good ice for our family.
2021990 tn?1398838140 t produce enough and he started to lose weight. Basically had no choice but to just give him formula. Those 2wks of trying were probably the most stressful and heart breaking times ever. Well now I'm 22wks and I'm already stressing about breastfeeding this baby. I want to but at the same time I don't want to go through all of that again :/ Any advice?
Avatar f tn You can pump, that way you're getting breast milk, he's getting the nutrients he needs, and you may lose weight that way, is there a reason you don't want him to latch on?

Avatar f tn When I had my first, he was in the hospital for 2 weeks and I had no choice but to pump, I regularly pumped with a hospital grade pump every 2 hours, I only nursed my son till he was about 3 months but I had stored enough milk in my freezer to give him nothing but breast milk til he was about 6-7 months old, as long as you can keep yourself on a strict schedule your baby gets what they deserve, you get to lose the weight faster and every one is happy :-) either way, whether you choose to pump or
Avatar f tn You are supposed to pump every 2 hours for 10-15 minutes per breast. That is what your baby would typically be doing if they were to latch on because breast milk digest quicker and baby eats more often. In the first week you will only supply about an ounce or so, their bellies are still really small. When they are around 3 weeks you will get more milk because their bellies are growing.
Avatar f tn Hi I just have birth August 19 i was in hospital 6 days my daughter latched right after birth and we had no problems nursing until about 1 month 1week old I joined a program called head start and they said that my baby Dr wouldn't like her slowish weight gain she was 5 pd 15oz at birth and at one month was about 6pd 12 ozso even tho they said they support breastfeeding all the way I felt pressured to use formula however when i seen the pediatrician she had a healthy weight gain and is now 7
1149221 tn?1304827966 Is anyone else pumping and really getting tired of it? After the hospital made him have a bottle he would never take the breast so I have to pump. I am really getting tired of it. I just feel guilty if he has to have formula all the time (he gets it 2-3 times a day) plus pumping is free. I just find it so hard to take 30 minutes every 3 hours to pump. By the time I'm done both my boys are upset and I have to calm them both down. I just don't know what to do.
561093 tn?1237429410 This way I knew how much milk he was getting and could get his weight up. At first it was going really well! My milk all came in and I was pumping 4-5 oz each time I pumped. I mean my breasts were very full. It lasted about 5 days and now the last 2 days I have barely gotten 2-3 oz. and sometimes even less than that.My breast are very soft and "Squishy.
470885 tn?1326329037 I was reading up on pumping breastmilk to refresh my memory on all of this stuff - you forget a lot in 3 years! - and saw something about how breastmilk is the perfect food for baby because it adapts perfectly to the stage they're at, at any given time and even changes throughout the course of the day to suit their needs. I've been pumping 4 ozs. Every other day so that DH can give DS a bottle before bed, I'm not planning on storing it for the long term....
Avatar n tn If we are pumping breast milk how many ounces should she have per feeding? How long should we let her nurse on sore nipples and still get enough to eat? Our doctor told us to give two ounces of formula. she weighs 7.5 pounds. 8 days old.
Avatar f tn Then the deflate once you lose weight and milk. Some women dont sag as bad some do really bad. I have heard that pumping a lot can make them stretch more though. Think about your babies health, breast feeding is the best choice if your able.
Avatar f tn Thank u I'm realizing I don't he's constantly on my boob nd was crying so hard.nd as soon as I made a bottle was quiet I pumped for 45 min nd I didn't even get one ounce is that bad?
4331946 tn?1355816857 I hear that its easier to lose weight while breastfeeding. Basically your stomach contracts when you breastfeed which burn a lot more calories. At least thats what i was told. Anyways its healthier for your baby too so you basically hit two birds with one stone. Unless ur dr says otherwise i would recommend every mommy to breastfeed but sometime life or health issue also can get in the way.
2106256 tn?1340814698 My best would leak and get so engorged that I would have to pump. I want to breast feed but it hurt so bad with my first baby that I'm to scared to try with my second baby. My son had formula in the hospital cause he started to lose weight. They told me to give him at least 5 ounces a day to get his weight back up. That and not knowing what to really do didn't make it easy. I only lasted 2 months. Did it help anyone to take classes?
Avatar f tn Put her to the breast more often. What makes you think you aren't making enough?
Avatar f tn I'm pumping and just wanted to know the end results after I finally stop pumping.
Avatar f tn How long does it take to lose most of your pregnancy weight I've lost 12 pounds and its been a week since I had my baby
Avatar f tn If from the breast it could be reflux but it could also be an allergy to something in your milk. Also is he throwing up a lot (projectile) or just a little bit. If.it's just a little bit it could just be normal spit up. Unfortunately if it is reflux most doctors won't do anything while baby is young or if he's still gaining weight. I suspected at 6 weeks that my daughter had reflux and my doctor didn't prescribe any meds until she was 7 months old.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone I'm a second time mommy. I had my son yesterday morning. He's a premature baby boy. (35 weeks) I don't have no breast milk. I been pumping milk for 10 minutes each one. And all I get is little drops of milk. I feel bad I want to breastfeed my premature baby. To help him gain some weight and give him the vitimins he needs.I don't want to leave him at the hospital I want to take him with me.
Avatar f tn The pumping made me so sore, I could not wait to stop. I am no longer pumping now but need to return to it to get my right breast to increase its supply. I am going to experiment with some different breast shields to see if I can make it more comfortable. I have also started taking Fenugreek to boost my supply - it really helps. He now eats every 2-3 hours with at least one 4-5 hour stretch. This is sometimes at night, which is heaven.
Avatar f tn Yes you can pump from the beginning. Look up exclusively pumping or EPing on the Internet for some tips on how to do it and what you'll need to do. It's harder but if you want breast milk for your baby and breast feeding is not something you want to do I say go for it and give it a try.
Avatar n tn Her weight is below the 5th percentile and her height is just below the 25th percentile for her age. Have you pumped to check your breast milk production? At 10 months old she does not need to be breast feeding every 3 hours. Guideline for a 9-12 month old child should eat the following: Breast-milk or Formula (6-8oz) 3-5 feedings a day, Dairy 1 serving a day – cheese (1/2 oz) or yogurt (1/2 cup).
Avatar f tn Pumping doesn't stimulate milk production like natural breastfeeding does. Try hand stimylating with pumping every hour, using warm rags around your breast to make the let down reflex easier, and eating certain foods and even some teas can help the body produce milk.
