psychotic

Avatar m tn my 22 year old son just experienced a psychotic break. I need to understand how he was feeling. Is there anyone who has personally experienced this, and would be willing to describe what you felt? I am desperate to understand what he is going through.
Avatar m tn My pdoc yesterday told me it's possible to have a psychotic break from too severe anxiety. This scares me bad, what is that? Does that mean I'll go crazy and hurt someone? Myself? Has anyone ever had one of these? Also is there anyone here that has had several months of severe anxiety, then slowly goes back to several months of calm? I'm afraid this feeling will last forever. Just to make sure I'm experiencing this "anxiety" what does it feel like to u all?
Avatar m tn Hi Lenny and welcome to the forum i tend to agree with Dee on this one My hubby had it for 30 odd years and i have tested on numerous occassions and i have always come back as negetive so i wouldnt worry.I wish you & your brother all the best and tell him from me, well done for going into drug treatment that as took some guts!!
Avatar f tn t until I had a psychotic break that I was diagnosed. It seems that after I was diagnosed (after my break) that I haven't gotten back to the "pre-break" feeling. (I stay in the depressed more than the mania) I know part of that is because of medications and we don't always want/need to get back to the "pre-break" feelings, but I am wondering... Does a psychotic break change our disorder to a permanently detiorated state? Does it just get worse on it's own?
447130 tn?1225470866 has recenlty been traumatized, then had a complete meltdown which the docs called a Psychotic Break? They are hospitalized for being a danger to themselves & others. I don't have much more info than that. What does this mean? Is it temporary? How long can it last & does anyone know how long you can be held by law? Or is that a state by state issue? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn Our family has recently adopted a new cat. At first she and our first cat, Lenny got off to a rough start. Soon after they seemed to be fine in the house. Now I notice that Lenny is not eating, sleeping a lot, seems to be losing weight and has no interest in anything or anyone. Also his eyes look funny and his fur looks very tattered. Not sure if he is sick or depressed.
Avatar f tn Some People Say Different Things Like Lenny ^^^ Those Sound Harsh . For Me On The Other Hand , They Feel Like Period Cramps ... Not Painful But Very Irritating && very Annoying .

Avatar f tn As to your question that's complex. A manic episode is a mental change in that its a break from reality. A person's emotions are not normative to what is going on. It may impair judgement such as the grandiosity typical for mania where a person has an inflated sense of self importance. As for psychosis that is a sharp break from reality in logical and normative thinking.
347645 tn?1283220742 Dee I'm so glad you have some things you love to do also. I think sometimes we all feel out of control with our pain. Just this weekend my husband begged me to plant in the garden and I couldnt because of a flare. I felt awful about it and wanted to just cry. It's never easy to stay in conrol and I think to never get depressed or upset about everything is probably really unhealthy. Just dont put too much pressure on yourself. Its the way we adjust to such a different way of life.
Avatar m tn I think it is the seroquel that has helped the most with anxiety. I did not want to take it because it is called an anti psychotic. Of course everyone is different. I also am on Depakote. I have been on most of the anti anxiety medicines. I have a long list of medicines that either did not work or worked for awhile. Thirty years ago they just loaded you up on heavy stuff and you did not feel a thing now there are so many options. It does take a good Doctor and trial and error.
Avatar f tn @lenny would u worry like Im worrying right now lol yes I feel her I just get worry ;
Avatar m tn Hi I am a bit confused about your comment that 18 units is a lot of novalog for those very high readings Lenny had. I also am on novalog(pen) and metformin. My numbers haven't been that high in a longtime! For a while I was prescribed 50 units 3x a day. Yes that is a large amount. MY hc1 (always write that wrong) had gone up to over 11 ): Stress, severe depression and not caring caused this. Now the most I have to take is about 25, which is more the exception not the rule.
Avatar m tn Hi, Lenny. Your situation is a little confusing. If your doctor says you're unable to work then you have a good case for disability. If your employer is firing you because of your illness, this is blatantly illegal. I'm glad you have that lawyer, since you'll be needing him or her. I think for Social Security Disability you will need better clarification as to what is wrong. Demyelinating disease is not a real diagnosis. Do you have MS?
Avatar n tn Well, I'm not sure about that. Antipsychotics don't work right away. Tranquilizers do. Antipsychotics, if they do work, work all the time. Tranquilizes only work for a short period of time and then wear off. If she took this as an antipsychotic injection, it would be during an emergency situation but she would have to take the shots for several months and then go on the medication for longer than that.
Avatar f tn Ok. But is it common to be manic all year round like I am. Even with the meds. Like I said I only hit the depressive mode when I hear a certain melody or when its those to holidays but I never stay in it for long. But I wouldnt say just depressed its mixed.
Avatar m tn Lenny, please pay attention to the answers the various forum members give you. They've been right on target. You just need to know that there are a number of different demyelinating diseases, and MS is one of them. If your doctor uses these two things interchangeably, ask him to explain to you what you have. If it's MS, then he'll need to say that on papers he submits. But I'm sure he already knows that. If not, your lawyer will help.
1372788 tn?1279215766 I feel like one of the celebrities,I'm not rich but in Australia I could get my DOC codeine over the counter at a chemist for $10 for 40 tablets,and no records were kept so I could go to as many different chemists in a day as I needed,that's what makes it so hard to stop here,It doesn't break the bank,it's affordable and easy to acquire.But I'm 316 days clean.
