Usually there are side effects, which should diminish with time. I found Prozac did not suit me at all, but it suits lots of other people. My side effects were so bad I had to stop the 10mg dose within a few weeks.
We all react differently to drugs, what suits one person, may not suit another. You have not been on Prozac long, so you may need to give it time to get into your body. If you really think the side effects are too bad, then I suggest you go back to the doctor.

For me, neither was much of a factor with any of these things, and most ssris other than possibly Prozac tend to be sedating when they work well, but still, some will get these problems and some won't. These two meds are very similar. Celexa came first, and when the patent ran out, they played with the structure, took some things out, and made Lexapro. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects.

now i have massive adhesions that cause tremendous pain. the mayo clinic advised me against any more removal of adhesions unless an absolute must. i take hydrocodone for pain when needed. if that doesn't control my pain i end up in the er.
my question is two-fold. i know i need an anti depressant, what i don't know...does the savella aggitate my feelings of overwhelmness and sleep problems. if so any suggestions for an anti depressant.
I woke up this morning worried about side effects and felt like my heart was racing and going to beat out of my chest. I took 2 xanax (which I've been taking for years) and feel like I'm calming down, but I'm worried this racing heart is a side effect or if it's just my anxiety of taking the new medication. They are fairly steady and constant, but I have noticed a decrease on occasion so am hopeful they may all pass soon. I’ve also began utilizing OTC pain meds daily which do help tremendously the constant headache.
I am wondering if anyone has any of the sexual side effects? Prozac was the first med I was given about 2 years ago and I felt dead to the world and had terrible sexual side effects. I had to stop them. My doc said I may get them since Celexa is in the same category of meds. If I do then we can try something else.
Not to say some of these might not be side effects of starting Prozac, but again, if you look up side effects of withdrawal when you quit one of these drugs, you'll see the ones you're describing -- crying fits, electric shocks, vertigo, nausea are withdrawal effects. The sweats could come from any drug, so that might be withdrawal or it might be starting the Prozac.
I have been at the Mayo Clinic for the last week. It has been a very pleasant experience, given my circumstances. They have been very efficient and very informative. They have treated me like a person and not just a number. I am very impressed.
I am looking for some personal advice on medications. I was dx with CIS due to the fact that I am not really experiencing any symptoms other than the optic neuritis, which has resolved for the most part.
