prozac

822153 tn?1333062995 Hi tomskat, I just posted on the depression forum that I noticed a difference in Prozac and the generic form (fluxientine sp?) Prozac worked wonderfully for me were the generic form didn't do me any good. I spoke with my doctor (not the one who perscribed either med to me) about this and she agreed and said the generic Prozac is not as effective. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Is the generic version of Prozac as good as the name brand one? Any experience with either?
Avatar f tn 15 yrs later I had another bout of anxiety and depression and tried it again and it did nothing sadly. Sometimes I wonder abt generic vs brand name bc in college Prizac was brand name and when I tried it 15 yrs later, it had gone generic and the generic didn't work. Don't worry, you did nothing wrong. Sending healing thoughts your way!
492652 tn?1252945408 Has anybody noticed a difference in brand name drugs vs. their generic counterparts? I was given a prescription for Xanax (.25 mg), but because it was MUCH less expensive, was given the generic alprozolam. To be honest, I haven't really gotten much relief from either the brand name or generic, but I just wanted to see what people thought about this.
Avatar m tn I am in Australia, and recently there has been a supply problem from Pfizer to Chemists. I have in the past been given a generic brand of Sertraline instead of Zoloft, and it didn't take long for me to find out that taking a generic brand was not for me. The generic brand didn't seem to be effective for me at all, and I definitely felt terrible. Since then I have insisted on Zoloft and would not accept a generic brand which would have cost less.
Avatar n tn I take synthroid and was wondering if the generic is just as good? Someone told me to never take the generic so I pay extra for the name brand. TIA!
Avatar n tn Buproprion is just the chemical name for the brand name Wellbutrin. Buproprion SR means Substained Released. Indeed the generic could be not working, I've seen this happen in some people. Better check this out with his doctor.
Avatar m tn Prozac has been generic for a very long time, there are several companies now making generic versions. Precisely which were your before and after brands of generic prozac (fluoxetine hydrochloride)?
Avatar m tn Try the generic version of prozac..called fluoxetine. It comes in white tablets. Pills and capsules seem to vary in their effects with this medication.
Avatar f tn He was VERY adiment that when I go to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription to check it out BEFORE I pay for it because he wrote NO SUBSTITUTION and does not want me taking the generic for it. My insurance is denying the brand name and I am fine paying out of pocket for it for now, but would like to resolve this issue. Is there a difference in the brand name vs the generic???
Avatar n tn I agree that there is debate over the use of generic vs brand name. I actually did better on generic levo than I did synthroid, but everyone is different.
Avatar f tn I was taking 40 mg prozac, 60 mg dexedrine, and taking xanex as needed. I just changed the prozac to 150 mg effexor, because my Insurance co. wouldn't let me continue getting brand name prozac (the generic brand didn't work the same. I had no problem changing over to effexor, no withdrawal effects from prozac. What made you get off the meds? That's wonderful you are no longer depressed. I don't think I will ever get off the anti-depressants.
Avatar f tn for brand over generic. My doctor says that no endocrinologist will prescribe anything but the brand name. I've been researching on the internet and find a lot of conflicting views. Is there anyone out there with cancer that takes the generic? Any problems with the generic when used for cancer?
Avatar f tn I had a conversation with the Pharmicist I go to (I really trust her) and I asked about the brand vs. the generic,as I'd done a lot of reading here about it and was a little concerned. She said that that used to be true, that there were differences in the past. But she was adament that now the generics are subject to the same stringent rules, regulations, and inspections by the FDA as the name brands and that there is absolutely no need for concern on this subject.
Avatar n tn I doubt it. Escitalopram is the generic of Lexapro. I asked my psychiatrist if the generic works any differently, as every now and then you hear of generics not working quite as well. She said there is virtually no difference in the drugs, except for the fact that one is a brand name and one is a generic. However, I recently went through the same thing as you. I'd been on Lexapro for eight years and did so well on it, and out of the blue it stopped working.
Avatar n tn t have your experience as I was just switched from generic to brand name...The generic levothyroxine barely budged my labs at six weeks. I will double check on the FDA regulations as I'm pretty sure the regulations on imported medication is a bit less stringent than within the country...I'll post the info when I find it...
Avatar m tn Generic is just as good as the brand name do not worry about it. Generic vs brand name as been talked about for many years no one has found any difference.
