797195 tn?1240579823 I have been living with MS for ten years and have been lucky. Between taking AVonex and Provigil my relapses are very few and far between. and also not severe.
Avatar f tn ve taken both Provigil and Adderall to help with the bad fatigue I get. I like Provigil a lot more than Adderall. It seems to have less severe side-effects for me. The only problem is that it causes my Irritable Bowel Syndrome to get out of control. So frustrating! Other than that, I would really recommend it. Best of luck to you, I hate the fatigue of this illness.
429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
968560 tn?1307451498 I was on tramadol and adderall at the same time without difficulty. Since provigil is similiar to adderall (or at least it is used for the same thing) it should be ok. It is best to get all your prescriptions at the same pharmacy. They will automatically find interactions.
760131 tn?1238217597 now after a little over a year clean the doctor diagnosed me with add. ive been dealing with depression since i was a child. way before drugs ever entered the picture and still are. the suboxone did wonders at first but then after a while i just started feeling more and more down. so when i got the adderall i was perscribed 10mg. twice a day to start and said she would see me back in a month. well its almost time to go back but ive been abusing it. taking anywhere from 40-60mg daily.
5509293 tn?1428531475 This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.
149081 tn?1242397832 That's exactly how I am. I even drink a pot of coffee with my provigil and synthroid. It's still lights out after 5 hours. A 3 - 4 hour nap for me! Not good.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
Avatar f tn Rondi..I am in a similar situation such as yourself. I had been on Provigil for approximately a year and it helped me tremendously. I was able to look for employment again, seek out options for going bk to school, and I had much less social anxiety with friends, family, and the public. I also went on a much needed weight loss program and had lost 17 lbs. Then my insurance denied coverage and we are working on an appeal.
667078 tn?1316000935 Hi Alex I took a nap on provigil/modafanil. So it did nothing for me. I've read others here that have taken adderall for fatique with good results. Adderall will be my next step as I've already talked to the doc about it. My fatigue has been better since I stopped working. Good your going to the doc tomorrow so u can talk over your options. Let us know how it goes.
871962 tn?1244730028 The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.
Avatar f tn I ended up putting it up my nose. She knows my history. My previous doctor would never even put me on Provigil, let alone Adderall. She wanted to try it, with my husband giving me the pill each day, but the attending physician didnt agree. My husband is furious, saying he is going to complain about her and if I went back on it I would be thrown out. All I want is to be normal again. I want to function.
400099 tn?1282954864 The reason for ritalin instead of provigil is that my insurance won't pay for provigil while ritalin costs me $3! Pretty good reason, huh? I hope it works with no problems. I think I've been tired my entire adult life!
Avatar f tn I took Provigil with no success, then neuro moved to Adderall and tried two different strengths, both just made me sleepier. He is leaving me to just "naps" for the winter, since the heat seems to intensify my fatigue, and wants to try amantadine in the spring, when the heat and humidity return. It's different for each of us, and you just have to find the one that works for you. Fatigue is one of our number 1 pests.
Avatar f tn t function and started the paperwork for disability. So in conjuction with my doctor and with the pharmacy help line for Provigil it was determined that for me it would be ok to cut the 200mg pill into smaller pieces. (Note - this is an option for me - don't try this without your doctors ok.) We found that my heart could tolerate a 50mg dose. (Provigil only comes in 100mg and 200 mg pills). That worked good for about 9 months. Now I am up to 75mg.
Avatar f tn How do I suggest to my PCP that I would like Provigil or Adderall for my EXTREME fatigue, to the poing of falling asleep while driving, without seeming to be drug seeking.? I have got to have something, I drive for a living! I am so afraid of having a wreck, but I can't tell my job I have this problem. I have to have this job for the insurance, since if I went on disability I couldn't get medicare for 2 years, and how do you pay for insurance on the pittance you get for disability?
1456824 tn?1288651214 I have heard Adderall works really well. I have a good friend who has MS tried the Provigil with a poor response however the Adderall is really helping him make it through his work day. Great tips on cheating with naps as well. I dont even find that I have go to sleep but just laying back in a chair and calming the brain...(no radio, no noise) seems to work for me.
807506 tn?1248649733 I had a mild form of cataplexy. I didn't even know I had it until I started the Xyrem! I used to take adderall but my blood pressue started going up. I read were they didn't even prescribe it in Canada d/t the side effects on your heart. So they switched it to Concerta. It doesn't work as well as the adderall but its better on my bp. I didn't realize you could take provigil and adderall at the same time. What does the Codeine do for you?
Avatar f tn I have a recent diagnosis but none of the meds help much. Cpap helps me to wake up in morn even tho I don't have sleep apnea (scored 3). I feel more like I can't move. I will get sleep attacks if I don't take provigil but that's all that drug does for me (keeps me awake for the most part but no energy to move).
4451049 tn?1387153437 Thanks to you both! I may have to mention Provigil and Nuvigyl to my Dr. Yes cave I am seeing a LLMD. I don't know that I have access to a GOOD one. What's a "GOOD Lyme specialist"? I have to take what I can get, and be glad to get in and be able to afford it. I'm just in the phase right now where I'm beginning to pick up on things, so I haven't really went into detail yet with the Dr..
Avatar f tn Hey. Keep your head up, there's a lot you can do to work with this. Feeling defeated and depressed comes along with a sleep disorder, I know. I'm just a couple years younger than you. The same things happened to me. I was so smart but all my grades started falling because I could never get anything done. Everyone thought I was just lazy- I thought I was just lazy. But I was tired all the time and unmotivated. See a sleep specialist.
Avatar f tn Are there any anti depressants or non stimulant/amphetamine meds that will help with the sleep attacks & day time drowsiness associated with narcolepsy? I'm a naturally anxious person.. and going on something like Adderall or Ritalin is out of the question... unless maybe if I have to drive somewhere that day. Is there any way to correct the condition, like with antidepresants?
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
