ve been surprised by the difference. I thought I was doing ok on Provigil however on Nuvigil I can see the difference. Provigil allowed me to exist in life, Nuvigil allows me live my life. I hope your experience is as positive as mine has been.

I've just started on Nuvigil which is the 2nd generation of Provigil. I like Nuvigil alot. I've been unable to tolerate other medications as they made me too jumpy. On Provigil I could only tolerate a small dose (had to cut the pill down - with permission from my doc). Provigil is more expensive than Nuvigil and many insurance companies won't cover Provigil. The drug company lowered the cost of Nuvigil to get people to switch.

For me there is a wonderful difference between Provigil and Nuvigil. Nuvigil starts to work faster, lasts longer, and really gives me mental energy that I haven't had in several years. The only down side for me is that Nuvigil has basically returned my energy and mental skills to normal. That is good. However, my body has lost so much conditioning over the last 2 years that I will have to work to get my strength and conditioning back. Now I have the energy to do that.

I used to take Provigil but switched over to Nuvigil within the past year because it seems to keep working a little longer. It was originally prescribed for me as part of treatment for sleep apnea in 2007, two years before I was diagnosed with MS. For me, this drug is well worth the price when I am awake (and alert) for the entire 45 minute drive to work in the afternoon. It is priceless when I'm still awake for the long drive home past midnight.

Nuvigil, alerted, modafinil, Provigil are the same -as far as I understand. I am paying more than you - I have high deductible insurance but took the hit because I needed a replacement for amantadine to help with fatigue. Thought I was ok until the amantadine worked its way out of my system and then I crashed. But new drug is giving me BP problems. Is anyone taking the drug with NO BP problems? How much can you take?

I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.

when i first went on Provigil, the difference was immediate and made a huge difference, I could actually get up and move. It might depend on how much you need it. I suppose my body got used to it but I also have some different symptoms now, but it still works, just not like the miracle it was at first. But if I don't take it, I can really tell the difference. I am so happy for you, fatigue is one of the worse syptoms in my opinion.

I was on Provigil for years never been on Nuvigil but it is probably similar only side effects I ever had was that if I took it too late I couldn't sleep that night one time I did look up the side effects for provigil and back ache was one of them but im not sure if I ever had that or not...

ve been making a switch from Provigil to Nuvigil. I use the Nuvigil more often on work days. It seems to be the longer acting of the two. Since I work afternoon shift, I need to remain awake and alert later, as I drive home at midnight or after. This isn't the kind of drug that causes my eyes to pop open and sends my energy into overdrive when it starts working. It does it's magic quietly for me even at higher doses.

For me, the difference between Nuvigil and Provigil was amazing. Nuvigil gave me back my life. Provigil let me leave the house but I had trouble functioning. And since Provigil is "going away" it is tough to even get samples. My insurance never approved Provigil but they have approved Nuvigil.

A co-worker called this week with a question about our insurance - she was denied provigil/nuvigil, even though her doctor contacted the insurance company and appealed the decision. She suffers great fatigue and the sample helped her a lot. She was wondering if I had any clues as to how others get this drug approved since it is not an MS drug.

I took Nuvigil like Provigil. Go to the company website and they may have a card you can print and take to the pharmacy for a discount. That's what I did with Nuvigil until my insurance started covering it. I started out paying $300 at first. Good luck.

I've been quoted 33% copay (tier 4) by my drug insurance company which is over $300 for me The online sources I've contacted no longer cover provigil since the generic came out and the generic is about the same price... I was given Nuvigil to help me with the fatigue that is causing me to have to nap pretty much every afternoon. The prescription is for 250 mg, but the neuro said I could probably take a half a pill and be fine. The first day I took it I was fine. The second day I was wide awake until 1 am, so the next day I took it at about 9 am. All of those days I only took a 1/2 dose. The third time I was having rapid heartbeat and hand tingling off and on throughout the day.

I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil. The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me several years ago before I was diagnosed with MS. They are expensive meds but do more than any other drug I take to noticably improve my daily life. I'd give up many other things to continue to afford either one. Neither drug gets rid of my fatigue or boosts my energy (wish they did). What they do is help to keep me awake and alert during the day.

I take provigil (similar to nuvigil) for excessive daytime sleepiness. I also have severe obstructive sleep apnea, and use a CPAP at night. The provigil does keep me from napping during the day, and I take it when driving longer distances. I would caution you that taking a stimulant does not make up for lost sleep, it may work for a couple of weeks, months or so, but the lack of sleep will come back and manifest itself and make things worse. You should get treatment your sleep apnea.

I'm happy for you that your neuro exam was relatively the same as last Feb.; that is a good sign. I've had to come to terms with pharmaceutical intervention. I'm the person that didn't want to take so much as an aspirin when I had a headache back when I was practicing judo and climbing mountains. Things changed. I'm on several medications; this would run on too long if I listed them all, lol.

Anyone who has trouble with Nuvigil keeping them up at night might do better taking Provigil. It is supposed to have a shorter duration of action. I found this to be true and I have taken both. Besides, Provigil is scheduled to be available in generic form in 2012. That should make it a little more affordable for you or your insurance company. Don't worry too much Nanci. Nuvigil isn't a drug you have to take every day.

I suffer from depression, and anxiety. the depression meds. make me sleepy during the day. I have been on provigil, nuvigil, and adderall before. main problems were chest and nasal convestion, constant clearing of my throat like something is stuck in it, and even facial ticks. if anyone knows of any other stimulants that don't have those side effects, or side effects not that severe. plz let me know! Now I'm taking the generic form of Provigil, and I'm starting to feel like a human being again. The fatigue is much, much better. When I first started Provigil, it took some time to get used the medicine.
