Provigil compared to adderall

Common Questions and Answers about Provigil compared to adderall

provigil

797195 tn?1240579823 I tried Provigil at one time, but I never could tell that it did anything. Adderall is by far the strongest I think that I have tried. If you have troulbe with your heart from provigil, I would doubt that you could use the adderall at all. I didn't have any trouble switching off of Adderall though.
Avatar f tn ve taken both Provigil and Adderall to help with the bad fatigue I get. I like Provigil a lot more than Adderall. It seems to have less severe side-effects for me. The only problem is that it causes my Irritable Bowel Syndrome to get out of control. So frustrating! Other than that, I would really recommend it. Best of luck to you, I hate the fatigue of this illness.
968560 tn?1307451498 I was on tramadol and adderall at the same time without difficulty. Since provigil is similiar to adderall (or at least it is used for the same thing) it should be ok. It is best to get all your prescriptions at the same pharmacy. They will automatically find interactions.
429700 tn?1308007823 I also was prescribed Ritalin because my insurance would not cover Provigil. I took it for a year, but it gradually became less effective. I have now moved on to Adderall. Unlike Provigil, the other two meds "kick in" much sooner. I occasionally "schedule" a dose if I know I need evening energy (the kind of energy required to go to a movie with your family). If I forget to take a dose, I am quickly reminded of how well they actually work.
1831528 tn?1317984379 I can't seem to function without meth. It is the only thing that gets me our of bed and gives me motivation, I even tried to just take adderall but it isn't strong enough. I am to the point where I don't know what kind of mental disorder. chemical imbalance I have in my brain, I do know I have one and it many in my family have one. I have been on and off meds for 12 years. I am 26 and have been using meth on and off for nine years. I quit heroin and coke couple years ago.
Avatar f tn Volkow said modafinil acts slowly when swallowed and is difficult to inject, making it less likely to be abused. Its high price, about $10 per pill compared to Ritalin at $2 per pill, also makes it less attractive to people seeking a high. That may change when generics become available in 2012, Volkow said. Jeffry Vaught, chief science officer for Cephalon, said the company has seen no evidence the drug is highly abused.
Avatar f tn I was recently put on adderall to help combat some of the excessive fatigue and trouble focusing I'm having related to my disease and medications. The doc choose this med over provigil because of cost. Does anyone have experience with taking either of these for excessive fatigue or focusing issues? I'd just like to know how it worked for you.
5509293 tn?1428531475 This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.
Avatar f tn Hi Bob, Adderall is an amphetamine, right? Do you have any weird side effects from it? And do you think you can become addicted to it? Our nurse coordinator and my neuro set me up with the one I'm on now, first, because they said all of the other ones are amphetamines. I haven't heard of this one before, so I'll have to look it up. That's really inexpensive compared to some of the prices I've seen out there for Provigil. Amphetamine make me a little afraid....
Avatar f tn Hello, my name is Leila. I read your post on Provigil and wanted to talk more with you. I have RA and Fibro with extreme fatigue, brain fog, and of course... pain. My doctor originally said he was going to prescribe Provigil for me but after hearing all of my other symptoms (inability to stay focused and complete tasks...) he decided to start me on Adderall (10 mg 2x/day). This medication makes me feel very jittery and sometimes anxious.
1100837 tn?1267668675 What were your experiences with Ritalin, Provigil? How is Adderall different? Should I just expect to not feel sleepy or is it also going to help me remain focused, for instance when I'm in a meeting and have to participate in the discussion? The Savella 12.5mg made me sleepy from Day 1. When I took ity with the Plaquenil, I felt more sleepy, nauseated and woozy (if that's a real word) LOL. Thanks for sharing with me.
Avatar f tn Rondi..I am in a similar situation such as yourself. I had been on Provigil for approximately a year and it helped me tremendously. I was able to look for employment again, seek out options for going bk to school, and I had much less social anxiety with friends, family, and the public. I also went on a much needed weight loss program and had lost 17 lbs. Then my insurance denied coverage and we are working on an appeal.
Avatar f tn s all that drug does for me (keeps me awake for the most part but no energy to move). I have been on 40-60mg adderall for 20yrs and wonder if I have done damage to my dopamine receptors and thus the reason I feel like I can't move, even though physically, I can. Anyone else with narco or that's been on adderall for so long, feel this way? I really really really need help.
405614 tn?1329144114 To obtain Provigil you have to have specific diagnoses. Medicare has a list of seven items that have to be checked off in the doctors progress notes to receive approval for anything. This medication is indicated for MS & Parkinson's disease. When I took Provigil, I would get to the pharmacy with a newly written prescription...the Pharmacist would say," the insurance company needs more information from the doctor".
667078 tn?1316000935 I honestly had to look on the app I used to keep track of my meds to ever tell whether I'd taken it or not. For me? Waste of money. More help from coffee! That being said, if I was just starting to look for something to help, I'd still give it a try regardless of the anecdotes of others. They may mean zero for your particular reaction. Personally, my pharmaceutical search may end here, at least for a while.
Avatar f tn I ended up putting it up my nose. She knows my history. My previous doctor would never even put me on Provigil, let alone Adderall. She wanted to try it, with my husband giving me the pill each day, but the attending physician didnt agree. My husband is furious, saying he is going to complain about her and if I went back on it I would be thrown out. All I want is to be normal again. I want to function.
400099 tn?1282954864 Hey all! I'm back once again. LIke a bad penny I keep turning up. LOl. I've been battling a major exacerbation. Had 3 days soluMedrol IV and while my legs could once again hold me, still alot of other stuff I'm dealing with such as increased pain, crushing fatigue, brain fogs. Saw neuro today and he is putting me on ritalin 5 mg twice a day for the fatigue. I'm a little nervous about that but I read the archives and sounds like it might help.
Avatar f tn s my insurance company ( blue cross and blue shield ) that wants me to take the ADD meds. Apparently they are cheaper than Provigil. We are still trying to find a way to get the provigil. I'm afraid, if I don't stop dozing off at my desk I will lose my job.
Avatar f tn Usually I get a sustaining day-after-Provigil-effect so even the day following Provigil I have slightly more energy than usual - enough to get by. I do have to get more rest, though, later in the day on days when I take Provigil - or else I have really scary symptoms. I nap longer and go to bed earlier on the day of a Provigil dose. My feeling is, we have to pay back, with rest, the tremendous energy that we "borrow" with the Provigil dose.
Avatar f tn How do I suggest to my PCP that I would like Provigil or Adderall for my EXTREME fatigue, to the poing of falling asleep while driving, without seeming to be drug seeking.? I have got to have something, I drive for a living! I am so afraid of having a wreck, but I can't tell my job I have this problem. I have to have this job for the insurance, since if I went on disability I couldn't get medicare for 2 years, and how do you pay for insurance on the pittance you get for disability?
807506 tn?1248649733 I had a mild form of cataplexy. I didn't even know I had it until I started the Xyrem! I used to take adderall but my blood pressue started going up. I read were they didn't even prescribe it in Canada d/t the side effects on your heart. So they switched it to Concerta. It doesn't work as well as the adderall but its better on my bp. I didn't realize you could take provigil and adderall at the same time. What does the Codeine do for you?
