Avatar f tn I am on Plaquenil 400mg Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID, Proventil HFA 2puffs every 4 hours, Flovent Diskus 250mcg (started one week ago), Nasonex, Augmentin 875 BID. I have had no problems with my cardio selective Beta Blocker prior to catching this cold. My peak flows are still in the High Yellow Zone and I am maxing out on my rescue inhaler and I haven't been on the Flonase long enough to provide control. But I am not wheezing...just stuck in the yellow zone anywhere from 360-390...
Avatar f tn There are websites where you can learn how to use your inhaler properly. I use Proventil HFA inhaler. Here is the section that explains how to use it. (http://www.spfiles.com/piproventilhfa.pdf#page=4). Good Luck!
Avatar f tn Her doctor has been closely watching her and put her on symbicort and the proventil hfa, and singulair. thanks for the heating pad tip!
Avatar f tn ll get used to the inhaled medicine better or later he will reduce the number of times you need to take the inhaler---or give you an inhaler that delivers less medicine and doesn't have this effect. I hope it's better by now.
212161 tn?1599427282 I don't know what inhaler was prescribed for you, but "rescue' (acts quickly) inhalers such albuterol can cause palpitations and arrhythmias. But this reaction is rare as long as you use the recommended dosage. Steroid inhalers are maintenance inhalers meant to prevent asthma attacks. They do not have cause palpitations and arrhythmias.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Bronchiolar asthma all my life (22 years), My inhalers have not been a bother with me worked perfect helped me so much expect the Blue one which made my Asthma worse.
Avatar f tn In July I thought I was having allergy problems. Turned out to be pneumonia. I thought I was ok after meds. Then I had a really bad asthma attack. I did not know what was happening. Really bad coughing and hard to breathe. Went to ER and they gave me breathing meds. I saw an allergist yesterday and he put me on Adviair and Proair. I haven't had the Proair prescriptioin filled yet as I still have proventil. Sorry to ramble on.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed an inhaler about a week ago, and it doesn't seem to be helping with my breathing problems. It feels good and works for about a few seconds after using it then it doesn't make a difference at all. And the other day it actually made my symptoms A LOT worse (I could barley breath for the whole evening and felt pressure). Is there a reason for all of this or should I just switch brands?
Avatar n tn i'm using aerocort inhaler(each actuation deliversBelcomethasone Dipropionate-50mcg;Levosalbutamol Tartrate-50mcg;Absolute alcohol-7.4% v/v suspended in propellant HFA)....i feel problem in breathing 2-3 times a day and i take a dose and taking it for 7-8 years and also have much mucus developed....but "i feel drowsy and headache after taking each dose"..i have to take a light sleep to gain the freshness...what should i do, should i change my inhaler or consult doc.????
Avatar f tn I have to take out the cannister of my Proventil and put it in the holder for another inhaler. Makes me mad since I do not have insurance and it is a $54 inhaler. I don't like ProAir either because for some reason, it increases the phlegm in my chst and I cough like crazy after using it. It has some ingredient that actually exacerbates my asthma. Any suggestions?? Thanks so much! Oh, and I also take Claritin, Symbicort, and sometimes Spiriva for control.
1515545 tn?1291395764 Oh, caregiver222 is right about Walmart. They do have a "sample size" inhaler for around $4. It only has about 60 puffs though. I am thinking it is Ventolin, but it could be something else. Take care.
Avatar f tn Proventil is short-acting. If you forget to take it you might wheeze - or you might not. The schedule, as such, is not that important. Keeping yourself free of symptoms is. So if you forget to use the inhaler, and start to wheeze, then take a treatment, whether or not it is according to schedule. What confuses me is that inhalers are usually used on an as-needed basis, in any case.
7748835 tn?1393868668 Hello. I'm 16, 5'6 and 118lbs. I've had asthma since I was little and I just got a diagnosis that it was moderate persistent asthma but has worsened since I've had that diagnosis so I'm sure it's severe now. I'm on Advair 250/20 as a preventor and I have Ventolin HFA as a rescue inhaler. I take Advair twice a day, but sometimes forget to take it. I don't believe it helps prevent any symptoms or attacks whatsoever.
Avatar f tn I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.
Avatar m tn If i talk normal cracky and difficult for 2 weeks now.Sometimes i feel inhaler is causing my voice problems or both? i seem to have had this voice problem, but much less for years but not this bad, especially when i could feel sinus dripping down back of throat.
586504 tn?1226473165 , Singulair 10 mg, Proventil HFA Inhaler, and ADvair and a steroid shot. August 7 she went to the Pulmonologist and was told her X-Rays look fine and they did the Spirometer breathing 'test' in which she passed with flying colors! The only thing he could see was that she was "Holding" a little air somewhere and was put on Singulair again! It hasn't helped at all! Everytime we've been to the doctor she has had a 98% or better oxygen level and her blood pressure is good.
Avatar m tn I am a 29 year old male with no family history or personal history of asthma. About a week ago now, I had just finished a day of working in the yard and was about to go to bed when I noticed a peculiar tightening in my chest and trouble drawing a full breath. At the time, it didn't concern me overmuch, since I am/was a smoker and it sometimes happened that my chest got tight like that at night when I'd smoked too much. It would always be gone when I got up in the morning.
Avatar m tn g montelukast, ventolin inhaler and symbicort. Xray for the sinus and chest were also ordered which resulted to bilateral nasal congestion and clear chest. The problem is, I have been experiencing symptom of dizziness. Its been a month now and I could not take it anymore. As if I am floating always. Please, could you help me with my concern?. . Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn m now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too. will i ever get better and be able to switch to lower advair dose? my MD says i have "moderate" COPD....does it get better, or what?
212161 tn?1599427282 I used to take albuterol for fast acting inhaler, but my cardiologist changed me to the xoponex because it is easier on heart patients.
Avatar m tn Usually it goes away on its own. I currently take advair, singulair, and proventil hfa. It seems to help with it some. I'm still working on getting asthma under good control though. None of the doctors I went to mentioned having this kind of problem until I flat out asked and they said yes it is pretty common.
Avatar f tn You might be reacting to that and not the medication, switching to the HFA inhaler version would help that (or vice versa). If is VERY unlikely you are allergic to every single medication for asthma because there is a lot of differing types and specific meds. You might want to talk to a pharmicist for less common alternatives if your doctor is having trouble - they may not know of the other alternatives.
524945 tn?1212376514 If your problem is vocal chord related the inhalers might not help, but I found that Proventil inhaler relaxes my vocal chords too so I got lucky. I have no idea how it will work on you. There are so many different brands. Also the inhalers you buy at the drug store over the counter are eppi inhalers. Don't use one of those unless directed by a doctor. They are different.
Avatar f tn when i was training for half marathon last year, i had shortness of breath, so extensive testing of my lungs was done and i was told due to 20 plus years of asthma small airways in my lungs have narrowed and i was put on Advair 132/21 hfa inhaler. it helped open up my lung and i was told by more than one doctor to take this inhaler every day like people take blood pressure medicine everyday. so I did that ( i was on a blood pressure medicine too at the time 20mg of benicar).
Avatar f tn s best to you the albuterol or a proventil inhaler. As yourself I was having problems with what felt like my throat swelling almost shut and this can be dangerous. In my situation it was digestive issues. I caught a rare virus in my stomach and it took months of treatment with antibiotic and I actually had a procedure where they put a small camara all the way inside your stomach to check for pulups. I still feel as if I have someting unfortable inside my throat. Get it check out.
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
Avatar f tn He said that it is normal for my chest to react that way with the inhaler. I been having this cough for the past week. I havent used my inhaler yet. Do i need to switch to another inhaler? Please need advice please. Thanks.
