protonix

7763229 tn?1396626895 No but my doctors have told me to only take either tums or zantac. I take Zantac now because it works fast and helps throughout the day and night.
Avatar f tn I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
Avatar f tn I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hello, About 2 month ago, I started having bad stomach pain, with pins anf needles sensation, and pain radiating through back. I went to see family doc and he did blood test to rule out pancreatitis (result came back normal), and put me on Protonix 40mg, once a day. I took for couple of weeks, and felt ok, so stopped, but pain would come back, so went back on it couple of days later. The bottle had 30pills, and one refill.
Avatar n tn Just had to comment about your stopping protonix. I have been on high doses of PPI's since January 2012. Omeprazole 80 mg/day, which did next to nothing after 18 months, then asked for a stronger pill that I could take 1xD, and the doc prescribed pantoprazole 40mg, and it worked like magic and I saw a huge difference within 2 weeks. Have now been on it for about 6 months and feel better than I have felt in years.
Avatar f tn I take 40 units of Lantus at noon every day, and sliding scale of Novolog. My sugar was 199 when I went to sleep last night, and 356 when I woke up!
Avatar n tn I take Zoton when I feel the burning sensation - usually depends on what Ive eaten recently.
Avatar n tn I'm a heart patient, but also had severe GERD issues caused by a bowel obstruction that caused severe damage to the LES valve that allows acid to reverse direction, and can cause what is called Barrett's, a pre-cancer in the esophagus. If your acid reflux is severe, I'd certainly follow the advise of your doctor, not any of us online. I'd be very careful about accepting on-line suggestions regarding what medication to take and what not to take.
Avatar m tn Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same time each day. Continue to take this medication for the prescribed length of treatment even if you are feeling better. Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or stomach/abdominal pain may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Avatar m tn I only started taking protinix 8 days ago and have had horrible stomach pain. Back in October my Gastro doc did an endoscopy and results were esophagitis; basically inflammation and several small ulcers. He described aciphex. My insurance initially said they didn't cover it, but the dr sent over an authorization & I was told it was good for one year. First two months my copay was $75 but in January when I went to p/u @ pharmacy I was told it was $480.
Avatar m tn I have had GERD for years. I went from Aciphex to Protonix and now Nexium. I have recently had a B-12 count toward the low level (but still in normal range) and am concerned that this is because of the medication. I also heard that the medication can cause stomach cancer. Is using the medication for so long safe? Is there a timframe for which it should be stopped? Also, I recently heard about Kapidex.

Avatar f tn I went to a gi specialist they did a endoscopy and colonoscopy everything was normal I got a hiana hernia and a small ulcer to they got me on protonix 40 mg but scared to take it I have been taking gaviscon instead I don't know what meds you can or can not take with protonix
Avatar m tn ve been having severe stomach pain and now my GI doctor thinks it is from the Protonix, which it probably is. His solution is to take me off of the protonix completely. He told me to go cold turkey off of it, but I am having such bad heartburn that I think I'm going to taper it. Shouldn't it be tapered anyways since going off of that much PPI would cause your stomach to over produce acid? Anyone have any ideas?
Avatar f tn Then when I went to my doctor Thursday, she switched me to Protonix. If they are basically the same, could Protonix work for me if Prilosec OTC didn't? I'd really like to know because I've had this problem for almost 3 months now and I'm tired of eating plain food.
Avatar n tn How about a HIDA scan to check your gallbladder function and blood work like CEA to check for cancer? Can MDs feel the lumps under your ribcage that you're describing? If they said you are constipated, you need to take something to clear that out and see if you get relief.
2121656 tn?1395674749 I temain amazed that third party payors continue to reimburse for some of these procedures, especially when the docs insist on using endoscopy centers that they have a financial stake in. I guess I am jealous when I have to go to such extremes to obtain straight forward diagnostic tests that are clearly indicated.
721523 tn?1331581802 My gastero perscribed Reglan. I am affraid to take it. I have bad reflux and nausia after eating most meals. The side effects of Riglan are bad. What do I do? It can cause parkinsons symptoms as well a galactorhea (which I already have), and a host of other things.. http://www.rxlist.com/reglan-drug.htm This sight is an interisting read. Any past users? Advice form all appreciated.
Avatar f tn I hope you doctor told you that H-Pylori bores holes in your stomach lining. It can take years to heal and you may always have to take a blocker. I did not take it seriously and now I have gerd/reflux and a hiatal hernia. All of which suck. Take your meds even when you do not have the stomach fire.
177337 tn?1310059899 When I thought back to all my times on Protonix or Aciphex, I can DEFINITELY tell you there is a correlation. I have extreme acid, so I've tested this over the last few months. Every single time I start one of these, my PVCs become much worse. When I posted I got a lot of responses that the same thing happened to others. Now I just take after-the-fact drugs like Zantac, tums, and Gaviscon. Nothing I can do. I had to decide which I hate worse.
Avatar f tn Nothing worked until I got closer to my 2nd tri and the zofran worked with the protonix. I still take protonix and zofran and im 30 weeks. It is sooooo easy to feel defeated but just find something that always brings you peace. For me at my lowest I had to have myself a good cry....like gooood snot everywhere eyes puffy cry and listen to gospel music. I was ready to give up but I made it through. If you pray...keep praying.and take each day as it comes. You can do it.
