protonix side effects

m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.

worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan). I'd like to know if anybody has experienced intollerance to the various antireflux medicines similar to mine. Have you ever had a severely burning tongue caused by them?

my dr prescribed Protonix to me and I wondering how often does someone have dizziness from it and how long does it usually last? I haven't taken it yet due to that. Also I tried omeprazole otc and it gave me headaches. Does that mean I'm more likely to have side effects from Protonix?

would Nexium pose the same problems for her?

When I was researching Protonix and was reminded of it's side effects (I'd forgotten) it hit home. For some months I have been having those symptoms and several others that are progressing. All lab work that may explain the symptoms have returned normal. However I've taken Prilosec (Omeprazole) for many years.

I looked up the side effects of Protonix - wow!!! So many! It did include the joint pain but said nothing about hearing loss - however, it did say that the list of side effects was not complete! I am taking Ipriflavone and Calcium with Vitamin D3 for my bone health. The Dr. prescribed Fosamax, but after reading about how it can cause weak bones, (what it's supposed to help) I discovered Ipriflavone.

Since I have been taking Protonix for GERD, my heart seems to be pounding in my throat. This has never happened to me before and is alarming. My blood pressure has always been low. Is this normal? Is there anything else I can take beside Protonix?

I'm throwing this one out there. I have been taking Protonix for 7 months. Could this possibly be what is increasing my pvc's? Brook do you know of any side effects from this drug relating to heart issues? I can't find any but I'm sure if I look hard enough.............

Ask your dr whats best. They told me zantec til that stopped working and then they told me to take prilosec which has helped a lot but apparently i have gerd so I've gotta work with that.

The meds u r asking about also known as protonix used for acid reflux and GERD.....will have side effects on some individuals.To know or understand what long term use could cause symptoms wise, ask ur pharmacist or dr. Since we all respond to meds differently it is very diff to say what long term use might do to u.....

I have been having seizures for a long time and I take the keppra as well I have a lot of the side effects I just try to over look it I take Dilantin as well and that one has a lot of bad side effects as well I now what you are going through I hope you can find something to help you out I have been looking to find something myself

It gave me very painful headaches as side effects and I stopped taking them. Then he gave me different pills called Protonix (PPI) medication. One year later, the symptoms haven’t gone away. I still have bad hoarseness and the phlem or saliva sticks in my throat! It worried me so I had to go to a new ENT doctor. She said my right vocal cord is little sluggish. She suggested I go to throat specialist, I went there, he checked it out, he said I have scar on my left side of my vocal cord!

I have bad reflux and nausia after eating most meals. The side effects of Riglan are bad. What do I do? I also checked out the side effects to two medications I was taking and both Clariton and Protonix had irregular heartbeats as one of their side effects so I stopped both. Its a week later and I still have skips and double skips which I use to ignore but have been bothersome lately. Have also been taking a few antacids to help with not taking the Protonix which seems to help some.

Hi, I took protonix for 5 years and all of a sudden it just stop working. I took it for inflammation of the stomach and inflammation of the esp, It is really miserable.

The best place to find side effects of a med are to Google a reputable source like Mayo Clinic or read the package insert you got since it is where mayo would get their info. Anyone who tells you they have a side effect that isn't listed on the label is just giving personal anecdotal evidence which might be just in their imagination.

So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I am going to watch your discussion as I am interested in what the responses are as I am also starting to worry--especially since I saw that insomnia and anxiety are possible side-effects of Protonix (this was not on this sight--so not sure if true). I also something about Protonix causing B-12 deficiency and am wondering about that, as well.

At the end of February I started having problems sleeping, aching joints and muscles, constipation and numbness/tingling down my legs and feet. I blamed it on side effects from the protonix I had been on for 3 months. With my doctors approval I stopped the protonix. It took over a week for the withdrawal symptoms to disappear and I felt much better. Until this last week or so.

Which one gave you less side effects? Also, are the two exactly the same class of medication or different? I also had kidney stones in the past and read that some of the inactive ingredients in acid reducers can cause that. Along with constipation, so I don't want to be on an acid reducer which can cause those in long type use.

thanks so much for your comment. have you tried any type of natural herb? my brother-in-law has cancer of the esophagus and his doctor said it could have been from the drug that he was taking and the drug was nexium. have you heard about this link of anti-acid medication to cancer?
