I have LPR- had it since 1997- it is horrible- took forever to diagnose since I rarely get any heartburn- I have waht is called cyclical vomiting- when i am in the cycle anything I eat makes me cough and vomit and vomit violently- for days or weeks- sometimes even on awakening- always clearing my throat- NONE of the gastro- tests showed reflux- I have been on meds for years- was on twice the max daily dose of nexium for yrs but new ins wont pay so now on protonix twice max daily dose- was on reg

You should take the Benadryl with lots of water, as this can really dry you out. Typical dose is 25-50mg every 4-6 hours with a max dose of no more than 300mg in 24 hr period. Regarding Protonix, long-term treatment may make it harder for your body to absorb vitamin B-12, resulting in a deficiency of this vitamin.

A couple of years ago my doctor prescribed protonix. After just one dose the room was spinning and my rate heart increased. I was told that it was most likely a virus that I happened to have at the sametime. The doctor asked me to take a second dose, but I refused. It wasn't as virus, it was protonix. Dizziness and heart issues are side effects of PPIs. I was then put on Prilosec, 20 mg, but it didn't help. The doctor increased my dose to 20 mg twice daily.

I inquired about taking the Western Blot at U of Washington and they gave me some assurances about my results and interestingly stated that in their research, Valtrex may delay seroconversion by week or 2 max. certainly nothing past 4 months. I thought this was interesting and worth sharing. Hope everyone is well.

So I started weaning off of Protonix, by taking the protonix every other day last week, then every two days this week. I took my last dose three days ago, and felt great yesterday, but today, I feel slight pain... My question is 1)Do you think it's a good idea to switch completely to Pepcid now? And is it safe to do so? Cause I've been taking Protonix for a while, and could interact with Pepsid?

why would my doctor perscribe protonix to me when it is for bloodpressure? i have a thyroid problem....

I was diagnosed with a pepcid ulcer and reflux a little over a week ago and was put on a once-daily dose of 40mg Protonix. Ever since then I have been experiencing uncomfortable constipation with full relief coming only once. As you can imagine, it's not only uncomfortable but embarrassing to be bloated and gassy almost every day. How long should I be on the Protonix, and should I be taking anything else to help ease the constipation?

Hi, I took protonix for 5 years and all of a sudden it just stop working. I took it for inflammation of the stomach and inflammation of the esp, It is really miserable.

I have been taking protonix for about 5 years now and I'm concerned about long term use of protonix and all the other heartburn medications I have been taking for 30 years. I still suffer from heartburn daily. I have had 4 Endoscopy's done at different times and my Dr. say's it does show some inflammation but no Barrett's Desease, thank God.

For some it will have the opposite effect. Also the max dose is 10mg so I would be really careful with that.

I have been taking protonix for four years now, and have loved how well it works! However, if there is ever a time where I forget my protonix such as leaving it behind on a vacation, within 3-5 days, I find myself in serious stomach pain, or in some instances even puking. I don't know if it's 'normal' but you're definitely not the only person having these problems! Hope you feel better once taking the pills again.

What happens if I take more than the daily recommended dose of Tums in a 24 hour period? I noticed I am over the dose now and I have to keep them by my side because I keep heartburn and serious indigestion. Does anyone have any tips besides changing my diet? Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.

The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.

t help but had to try that first before insurance would pay for Protonix. I have been on Protonix for over a year now and am having problems again. Right after I eat, I get bloated; I liken it to when you are full and you bend over to tie your shoe and you feel so much pressure on your stomach and diaphragm area and your head feels full of pressure. That's what I feel like after I eat and I am NOT bending over.

t have medicaid and yesterday my health insurance company said I must use generic of Prilosec first and if it does not work I guess my doc can request the Protonix. I really feel a difference not having the Protonix. Glad you can receive it. Thanks.
