protonix

Avatar m tn ve been having severe stomach pain and now my GI doctor thinks it is from the Protonix, which it probably is. His solution is to take me off of the protonix completely. He told me to go cold turkey off of it, but I am having such bad heartburn that I think I'm going to taper it. Shouldn't it be tapered anyways since going off of that much PPI would cause your stomach to over produce acid? Anyone have any ideas?
Avatar m tn Your doctor also had you taking 80mg per day of Protonix. You found out the hard way why this medication is prescribed the way it is. The way it's SUPPOSE to be. Your doctor's second error. Antidepressants can often be a tricky medication to find the one that works best for us. Many of us have had to try several before we get the right fit. That is not saying anything against ANY of the AD's.
Avatar f tn protonix and nexium are the same medicine. although the prefixes in pantoprozole(protonix) and esomeprazole magnesium (nexium) are different, its the suffixes that you need to look at. They are the main make-up of these drugs.
Avatar f tn ve been going through a lot of abdominal issues since July and have been given different medications to try over the course of the past 4 months. During this time I was given an Rx for Prilosec in both July and August, which reacted badly with my body so I stopped taking it. At the end of September, after having an endoscopy performed, I was Dx with severe Gastritis and given a new Rx for Protonix to be taken twice a day for 6 months which meant 60 pills/month.
Avatar f tn I'm on protonix and it's great! I take one every morning and without it I'm in trouble around dinner time. It'll take 2/3 days before it takes full effect but after that it does wonders. Welcome to the club.
535822 tn?1443976780 The New York Post today has said that there is a push for the 9/11 Trial to go to Govenor's Island , A lower Manhatton Community board called on fed officails yesterday to move the trail of the terrorists to Govenor's Island and passed a resolution demanding the shift, in a hearing with Downtown Residents who loathe the idea of the threats that would ensue and the lockdown it would involve, this makes sense to me , what say you ....
Avatar f tn went to the ent, he said it was swelling from acid reflux and prescribed protonix. the symptoms disappeared.
Avatar m tn Thanks to both, the protonix seems to help immensely to control the acid reflux and hence the sore throat.
Avatar m tn PPIs suppress the production of gastrin which contains hydrogen and controls the opening of the Sphincter of Oddi. The Sphincter of Oddi is where the digestive juices from the Gall Bladder and Pancreas are released into the small intestine. If it doesn't open the digestive juices back up into the Gall Bladder-which can rupture and the liver and Pancreas. The Liver can repair itself but not the Pancreas. PPIs are dangerous, particularily Protonix.
Avatar f tn Why were you in the hospital? That may be a lead on what the Protonix is for... surely you should (have?) talked with your primary care doctor. If not, I suggest you do and do so in the context of the other meds you are on... prescribed by? We don't have you age, but if you are not a senior I'd consider Coumadin a rather aggressive treatment due to "lone" AFib. The aspirin may be enough protection from the unlikely formation of blood clots.
Avatar f tn t have medicaid and yesterday my health insurance company said I must use generic of Prilosec first and if it does not work I guess my doc can request the Protonix. I really feel a difference not having the Protonix. Glad you can receive it. Thanks.
Avatar f tn however, he did not order a scope for the ulcer, he wanted to see how a few days of the PPI would help. The upside is that the Protonix helped with the reflux and stomach pain, the downside is the bloating and constipation. I did call him just the other night and he told me I can discontinue use of the Protonix this week because you can stop taking it 1 to 2 weeks after the symptoms go away.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new to this forum in desperate needs of answers. I am a 24 year old female in healthy condition. I am not overweight (I weight about 125 with an 11% body fat percentage), I workout regularly, and I am generally healthy. However, at the age of 13 I began having stomach pains. I went to the doctor and he put me on a two week round of Prevacid. This did not cure the problem, although it did help.he diagnosed me with GERD and He then placed me on ranitidine to take twice daily.
Avatar m tn I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this.. So I decided to stop taking the Protonix...the last time i took it was thursday and i still feel like im in hell.... You would think I am detoxing from some other hard core drug and I havent taken anything else.. I am still so naseous, gagging, stomach pains, heart palps..and I am def not pregnant or anything like that so I cant find any other cause for all of this.. Is there anything i can do to get this medicine out of my system.
221122 tn?1323011265 Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have had 2 ablations for AVNRT in the last couple of months to no avail. (I have had 4 in all.) I've also been taking Protonix since the beginning of the year. Perhaps that is the culprit? I keep wondering why my heart is still pounding the next day after I got my ablations done?
Avatar f tn s ok, and mentioned briefly that Pepcid would help meanwhile. So I started weaning off of Protonix, by taking the protonix every other day last week, then every two days this week. I took my last dose three days ago, and felt great yesterday, but today, I feel slight pain... My question is 1)Do you think it's a good idea to switch completely to Pepcid now? And is it safe to do so? Cause I've been taking Protonix for a while, and could interact with Pepsid?
Avatar f tn I've been on insulin for years. Went to hospital a month ago for bleeding ulcers of the esophagus, and was given bags full of Protonix, IV for a week. Was sent home taking 40mg 2 X a day. Had microalbumin well over 400 when I had labs done for checkup. So Dr. ordered a kidney ultrasound and a nodule was found in my right kidney. I've seen several law suits about Protonix causing kidney failure!
Avatar n tn There were signs of reflux, and I was put on Protonix. I continue to have shortness of breath, and tightness in my chest and right below my rib cage where my stomach is. I have been concerned about a Hiatal Hernia, because i get extreme belcing, reflux, and somtimes pain there. Could this still be a possibility even though they havent seen it yet?
Avatar m tn this time it is different as i am finding blood in stool, my stomach is really bloated and i also have a hard spot in the middle of my stomach above my belly button. The protonix is not working as well as it did 2 years ago. I am slightly anemic but doctor said i was born with it and it is not significant. I also have been having bouts of fatigue. Also for a long time (5 months) i had an uncontrollable itch all over my body that went away on its own.
Avatar f tn My HMO will not cover the cost for Protonix or the generic form. Can you tell me if OTC Prilosec will have the same efficacy as Protonix? Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn I have posted in the pain management forum, but not in this one yet. I've been having bad neck and shoulder and shoulder blade pain on the right side for a few months. I have been taking Protonix since May, 40mgs once every evening. Because I'm not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit.
2064754 tn?1333375663 the reason i was asking about protonix is i know it can cause fractures
1176471 tn?1263733305 Also keep in mind that the lactose from the milk will be present in all other dairy products as well, such as cheese. Are you now off the protonix? If so, have you noticed an increase in symptoms since stopping it? If so, it could be that you need a longer course of it - but before starting it again, check with your physician. Never start, stop, change, alter, etc. any medication without talking to, and getting approval from your doctor/s.
