Protonix for ulcer

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix for ulcer

protonix

Avatar f tn My doctor never indicated a length of time for taking it, he only listed refills on the bottle. Can I stop taking Protonix without the reflux becoming unbearable?
Avatar n tn She was prescribed 40mg of Protonix once a day. She has been taking this medication for one week, and has been experiencing dizziness and nausea. She weighs about 120 lbs. I looked online, and it appears that these are side effects that some patients experience. My question is: would Nexium pose the same problems for her?
Avatar f tn Is stress/anxiety something that could slow the healing process of an ulcer? Is there anything else for stress/anxiety that won't make me feel high/tired? Will my body adjust eventually and not feel so high from it, or maybe the dose is too much for me? It almost made me feel a little depressed today, which I don't recall happening in the past when I took it. I need to talk to my Dr. about it, but would like other opinions. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I've had a bad ulcer for the past few months, and just recently got a new job. I'm on Protonix and aloe Vera capsules, but I still get nauseous way to often and my stomach burns every few hours... my question is: is there a way to help ulcer pain without eating? I lost a job because of this stomach issue and just recently got a new one. I'm in school so I have to be making money to stay in school, but I don't want to get fired for having to eat so often and drink so often.
Avatar m tn I drink aloe vera juice to sooth my insides from my acid reflux and bc I have an ulcer. I have had an ulcer for a month and it dont seem to be healing bc I have so much acid in my stomach all the time. I do not want to take dangerous un natural meds or over the ocunter things like rolaids and I have tried all the over counter meds in the past and that didnt help. my doctor only wants to get money so she offers me the msot expensive dangerous med out there it seems.
20830596 tn?1554933789 I did the usual things for an ulcer (careful with food, no alcohol or soda, no smoking, etc.), but healing that was awful. I went to a gastroenterologist who didn't seem surprised at the meds causing these issues, but she also didn't really have any ideas other than figuring out which medication I could tolerate the best. I'm worried that I might have another ulcer, so I was wondering if anyone had better luck with certain stomach medications or any other ideas in general.
Avatar f tn I went to a gi specialist they did a endoscopy and colonoscopy everything was normal I got a hiana hernia and a small ulcer to they got me on protonix 40 mg but scared to take it I have been taking gaviscon instead I don't know what meds you can or can not take with protonix
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40mg Omeprazole for a year now for a stomach ulcer and because I also take celebrex 200mg for osteoarthritis I also have diverticulitis/ diverticulosis and had 30 polyps removed from my colon dec.
114870 tn?1210298346 mmm since milk helps you out and you have strong pain and reflux that pretty much points out an ulcer of some sort - milk has calcium that helps ulcers so that's probably why you feel better on milk, i'm curious if some sort of ulcer has developed...usually with all the acid blocking meds you've taken you wouldn't get one unless it was an infection like h.ployri. I'm sure you've been tested for h. ploryi..
Avatar f tn I was prescribed protonix (40mg/daily) for 2 months after an endoscopy showed some inflammation in my stomach (ruled out ulcer and celiac). After 1 month of daily use I started to feel awful - my hands and arms were tingling, I felt off balance, like I was walking through a haze at all times, like I might pass out more than once a day, and started having what I thought were sensory migraines.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed via endoscopy with a small gastric erosion compatible with gastritis several months ago (negative for h.pylori). Have tried Protonix for 3 months, Dexilant for 2 months, Nexium for 2 weeks (felt worse), and have been on Carafate for a month. I've also tried some "at home remedies". Nothing works. I went to see my primary care Dr. for stress/anxiety and he thinks that may be why my stomach is not healing.
20830596 tn?1554933789 I thought the issue could have been that they were making my medications not absorb properly, but it looks like these meds actually cause temporary changes in the brain for some people. I did the usual things for an ulcer (careful with food, no alcohol or soda, no smoking, etc.), but healing that was awful.
Avatar f tn Three mos ago I was found to be severely anemic and ended up in hospital for transfusions. A gastro dr did endoscope and determined I have severe bleeding stomach ulcers. I do not have any pain or other symptoms. Negative for h pylori bacteria. Been taking carafate 4 x day and taking protonix. I had vertical sleeve surgery five years ago and have been taking vitamins and history of TIAs so was on plavix. I don’t drink or use NSAIDS so what could cause this?
Avatar m tn Currently, I am taking Protonix in the am and pm for heartburn problems that I have had for about 3 years (Dr thinks that it was likely GURD related symptoms). Recently replaced Protonix with Dexilant in the pm. Any advice would be great.
Avatar f tn My primary care physician originally put me on Protonix for one month when I told him my symptoms. I had some improvement but the symptoms came back after stopping, so I was then put back on Protonix for 3 months. It did not get rid of the problem, so I had an endoscopy which revealed “erosion in the antrum compatible with gastritis”. I was told it was a small ulcer and looked like it was already trying to heal.
Avatar n tn He was considering doing some true gall bladder tests but said he suspected maybe an ulcer, gastroenteritis?, or maybe IBS. So he prescribed me Hyoscyamine and Protonix, saying he thought maybe the odd shaped poops were being caused by my colon spasming and pushing them into odd shapes. I took the Protonix and hadn't yet started on the other drug and within a day everything returned to normal, I felt great and my poops were back to their normal shape and size.
Avatar f tn I have h pylori too and an ulcer going in for an endoscope next week . the 2 week regimen is awful and I couldn't do it cause I have a 9 month old consists of 2 antibiotics either amoxicillin and erythromycin or tetracycline and flagyl .. and a proton pump inhibitor prilosec . I took it for 4 days and had horrible vomiting and diarrhea and stopped the treatment .
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and my biopsy came out negative, my MD had me stay off the Prilosec for two weeks, later they did a blood test for the Hpylori bacteria and it showed positive.
Avatar n tn I've been having pain under my left rib cage for several months now. At first, it would go away for awhile and then come back, but now it is basically constant. Burning pain in a distinct spot. I also have sporadic burning pain under my left breast area. Sometimes my back hurts along the same line as my front rib pain. I also have the same burning pain right above my navel. I thought it might be an ulcer, but when I started having pain in more than one area, I'm not so sure.
Avatar n tn I have just been diagnosed with GERD, i was having chest pain for a few weeks, today I had an onset of burning pain, i feel a constant burning pain through my rib line and across my chest and it even stretches to my back.It doesnt feel anything like the pains i have had with GERD. Is this a sign of an ulcer of pancreatic problems?
709686 tn?1277432159 I've been diagnosed with Peptic Ulcer Disease and currently take Protonix and Carafate and I think I've developed some side effects to the Protonix (Cough, Dizzy, ligthheaded, lower back pain.) Also...I suffer from bad belching, gas and pressure which I just found out is something called Dyspepsia. Over the past 4 years I've taken aspirin on a regular bases for headaches and general body aches and pains and read on a website that aspirin can be a major contributor to Dyspepsia.
Avatar n tn Several more visits with specialists and PCP she was considered to have somotization disorder. 4 months ago she was hospitalized again for 4 days and her ulcer was rechecked and healed, so she was diagnosed with mesenteric adenitis. She is on 30mg of Lexapro a day. Protonix twice a day. She is 5'4" 170 lbs. She continues to have boughts of this immobilizing pain and we have consulted a hemotologist/oncologist -per our GI's suggestion - with no answers.
