Anybody on here taking protonix for acid reflux. Since I started my third trimester I've been having the worst acid reflux/gas EVER! I can't sleep, I can't eat. The third trimester seems to be worst for me than the last two. Was thinking about taking some protonix that I have from my job but I read its a class B drug with no proven side effects to baby.
I started taking Protonix daily and watched what I ate. I have a lot of bloating and gas and a little bit of pain. My symptoms are not too severe all the time but I start to panic when I get in a quiet environment like a classroom or a work meeting. I get really worried about having an episode. Unfortunately, the panicking makes me have an episode of bloating, gas, and pain. I don't mind the pain but the bloating and gas episodes are not allowing me to do day to day tasks.
this is my second post after a nice member of this forum gave some advice about probiotics and aloe juice,,my apologizes in advance cause english is not my first language...i became american citizen the last year but my typing is not the best...the last year they found h pylory after an endocoscopy...they gave me the treatment with the antibiotics and tested after and they told me that i was negative of the bug...but after that i felt worse than ever...pain around my ribs..acid reflux/...
Recently had a bout with some left rib pain and abdominal aches. Went away for 3 months. Then came back with a few bouts of gas. After getting these aches in my left rib, and sometimes right, doc sent me for and endoscopy. Said I have very slight Barrett’s and some inflammation and put me on protonix. Also have small polyp on gallbladder that we will check again in 6 months.
He said the pain in rib (front and side) can be caused from this, and that it affects everyone differently.
Hello I have had chest pains for nearly fifteen years that recently have been more recently, I have been on Nexium for nearly two years and I was on Protonix for one year before that. I know that stress,poor eating habits and drinking could be factors however I have limited these factors but still get freuquent lateral chest pains that feel like stabbing sharp pains, can you offer any help?
I take three different kinds, Alka Seltzer for gas that hurts, then Tums like your meds for when acid gurgles and burns, and the third is prescription Hyocycamine for when deep in my guts things get strange.
You could ask your doctor to change your medication, but I think it's your digestion is stopped up from the antibiotics that is overwhelming any good the drugs might do, and so the bacteria from the Activia or Acidophilus should help that, along with extra water and exercise.
I had tons of gurgling in my stomach and colon area and a general feeling of having trapped gas/air/bloating all over. My bowel movements started changing. One day they would be shaped fine, the next day they would be kind of skinny, then one day they would be weird puzzle shapes and kind of like diarrhea, then the next day diarrhea, then back to normal. No particular order. This went on for two months.
I saw my doctor. He pushed around on me and said he didn't feel any lumps.
Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
I know supplements are difficult to get into your system for lack of acid in the stomach when you take protonix....but is it the same for iron rich foods? Would the stomach also block iron and other nutrients you get from food since it blocks supplements as well? If so, how can I take the acid reflux meds but still get the nutrients my body needs?
Ok so I had a upper Gi test done tuesday and they found I had little gastritis of the stomach and esophagitis and that my stomach was making to much acid. I been on protonix for 2 weeks now and after every meal and bedtime I take mylanta. I still feel sick all the time. Also i have very smelly green poop??????? How long can this take sometimes. what else can i rule out? Why could I be making to much stomach acid???? Please help its been three weeks a 2 days.
I have no idea what it is but i know it has something to do with indigestion because a few months before i became pregnant, I was told I have acid reflux and was taking protonix for a month or so, then it went away, but came back all of a sudden with the pregnancy. The pains are soo bad im kinda contemplating whether I should go to the ER or just wait another day. It feels like my insides are going to explode. Im kinda scared.
It was only a days ailment and went away but now since yesterday I notice after I wake up and drink water with my pills I get this sensation that there is something in my throat and like I have trapped gas and I need to burp so I drink water and indeed I burp. I am on Protonix 1 x 40mg and I suffer from gastritis/esophagitis since 2010 but every fall and spring I am.in a flair. Any advice?
There are various medications because each one is slightly different. That means that you may have to try different ones to find the one that will work the best for you and your system.
If you haven't done so already, you should also check out following a GERD diet. Any of the meds are going to be band-aids unless you take other steps to try to help yourself tamp down the conditions that may be underlying the problem. I deal with chronic constipation due to pain meds, but I feel this pain is more than just the constipation. I take Protonix 40 mg. twice daily for GERD. I tried some Reglan hoping it would help, but it made no difference. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroid and just started taking a new med for it today. Any help would be appreciated.
I do have tenderness on my right side--exactly across from where my gallbladder used to be. There is no blood, no gas, or belching--just a dull cramping each time I eat. I stopped taking Protonix two weeks ago to see if that was the cause, but I am still experiencing the same symptoms. Any advice would be much appreciated.
