Protonix and heart problems

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix and heart problems

protonix

Avatar m tn My problem was chest pain. And when tests revealed no heart problems, they assumed reflux. The protonix helped the chest pain, so I assumed they were right and was grateful for the relief. But now I have questions. I'm also a few months off of pain meds so it's possible that the side effects were there all along and being masked by the pain meds. Look, I know doctors have their pat answers, but in my 54 years of experience, anything is possible.
177337 tn?1310059899 Make sure you have your doctor check your magnesium levels while taking these drugs long term, as they have been associated with sometimes severe hypomagnesemia, which could cause PVCs and other heart rhythm problems.
Avatar n tn Since I have been taking Protonix for GERD, my heart seems to be pounding in my throat. This has never happened to me before and is alarming. My blood pressure has always been low. Is this normal? Is there anything else I can take beside Protonix?
Avatar n tn I had a lap nissen about 8 yrs ago,and havent had heart burn since.Could this be a complication from the lap nissen, and if so would it have showed on these test if something was herniated? The doc put me on protonix, and it has helped some, but I know there is something bad wrong, even wondered if I had cancer.I cant continue like this.Would reflux cause this much pain retching? The pain goes into back.
Avatar f tn I have acid reflux and take protonix occassionally when needed...recently I had a bad scare where I suddenly starting gasping for air...I have had similar attacks in the past, but this one was major as I felt like I would stop gasping....There was no warning before the attack....It did subside...Is this common with acid reflux and what do I do when this happens? I did over indulge with food over the holidays...I am not over weight and I do exercise..
1479013 tn?1330699762 t help but had to try that first before insurance would pay for Protonix. I have been on Protonix for over a year now and am having problems again. Right after I eat, I get bloated; I liken it to when you are full and you bend over to tie your shoe and you feel so much pressure on your stomach and diaphragm area and your head feels full of pressure. That's what I feel like after I eat and I am NOT bending over.
Avatar m tn I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this.. So I decided to stop taking the Protonix...the last time i took it was thursday and i still feel like im in hell.... You would think I am detoxing from some other hard core drug and I havent taken anything else.. I am still so naseous, gagging, stomach pains, heart palps..and I am def not pregnant or anything like that so I cant find any other cause for all of this.. Is there anything i can do to get this medicine out of my system.
Avatar f tn I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
228936 tn?1249094248 Hi, I have some reflux problems and swallowing /throat problems that my doctor said could be from long term untreated reflux. Could this make it difficult to sing, ie, making my throat feel irritated while singing? This is a problem because I am a musician and am expected to sing sometimes.

Avatar f tn I only went thru chemo for 6 sessions, but I too suffered horrific heartburn and reflux. I literally thought at first that I was having a heart attack. It was a pain that I had never experienced before. I had to be very careful what I ate, and I was put on protonix, 40 mg, and that seemed to help me. Good Luck to you. God Bless.
Avatar n tn I am having an endoscopy done in two weeks because my pain has not subsided for a month and I have already been to the hospital three times and had an x-ray done (mostly due to anxiety thinking it could be something else). All of the sudden today though my heart rate has been really low and it is hard for me to breathe...I am thinking about taking my xanax but I can't get over the thought that my heart is just going to stop beating.
Avatar n tn Turned into what I thought was a heart attack since the pain covered my entire chest and cut my breathing short. I was diagnosed in the hospital with having pleurisy strictly based on the gurgling sound coming from my chest. I went home to heal but noticing some pains not going away. I've had a persistent, fairly intense pain at my sternum. Since this past Monday, my breathing is cut short because (I think) of my diaphragm being inflamed.
Avatar f tn Hello all! I have posted here before and I am still having the same problems. For the past 3 days I have had abdominal tenderness and chest pressure which is remarkably worse when sitting or laying down. The chest pressure woke me up many times last night. I am experiencing what I would describe as "classic" heart attack symptoms but I have gotten a clean bill of health from my cardiologist in terms of my heart.
Avatar m tn First off I'm having trouble swallowing, saliva only swallowing water and food seem to go down fine but saliva seems to travel slowly or get stuck or something. It feels like the bones in my throat are all wrong, I really don't like this feeling, it's extremely uncomfortable. But my biggest problem is just recently as I was lying down to sleep, I realized I wasn't breathing and that breathing had become difficult, well not really difficult..
Avatar n tn Hi! I have some problems and anyone who has had similar situation and found results please help me. Symptoms are nausea, bloating, indigestion, mainly after eating. So for 3 years now I have been diagnosed with acid reflux. Been on basicaly every med on the market and recently I am on 2x daily protonix which has completley gotten rid of the nausea. My bloating (indigestion?) and belching throughout the day has gotten worse.
1346429 tn?1303874854 I can no longer take my heart meds for high blood pressure and irregular hb; topomax for migraines; metaphormin; and a few others. Which I quit taking some of my meds before pregnancy because I did a lifestyle change in which it helped enough that I could quit taking the extra meds. As far as C-section...both my boys were early but big because of the diabetes (not gestational) and I could not have them natually so this is another C-section baby.
Avatar f tn My Dr just put me on protonix because nothing else seemed to get rid of my heartburn. I take it morning and night and have been heartburn free since the 2nd day.
Avatar f tn s very successfully for years, but also mixed in lab tests to make sure the drug mix I was taking could be tolerated. I was taking some very powerful heart meds as well, such as Plavix, Coreg and Ranexa and Lasix. Lasix requires taking gorilla doses of Potassium, so I was monitored carefully, every 90 days. I had a Nissen Fundoplication and also Heart Bypass surgery so no longer have to take any of these medications except Lasix and Potassium. I had no Magnesium depletion.
Avatar f tn Ok, I have lots of questions but I will try to morrow it down. I started looking at questions about PPIs and weight gain and found other things that concerned me. My VA Dr is shall we say less than desirable. Here are my issues. I have been taking protonix for many years. I took another type before it but VA decided it was too expensive and quit providing it.
