I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this.. So I decided to stop taking the Protonix...the last time i took it was thursday and i still feel like im in hell.... You would think I am detoxing from some other hard core drug and I havent taken anything else.. I am still so naseous, gagging, stomach pains, heart palps..and I am def not pregnant or anything like that so I cant find any other cause for all of this..
Is there anything i can do to get this medicine out of my system.
s bad I have shortness of breathe, heart palpitations, feel like a volcano inside and get a squeezing my heart feeling.
I'm currently on Protonix.
I don't know what to do and going to the ER isn't helping me either.
I took protonix for a long time and got the same palpitations. My research uncovered that pump inhibitors like protonx cause a magnesium deficiency and magnesium is necessary to regulate your heartbeat. I stopped taking the pills cause it said that prolonged magnesium deficiency can cause serious heart problems. Since then I take Zantac, it does next to nothing even though I take 4 maximum strengths a day, and I pop tums all day, but the heart palpitations have gone away.
Pain in most of us is caused by inflammation and will cause your heart palpitations, and so many other things. Most tests does not detect a problem with the thyroid but there is one out there that does. I know how each of you feel but different meds and herbs effect each of us differently. I pray most of the time that helps all the time Isiah 53:5. I am only experiencing a little of the jumping and choking feeling in the throat. After taking my thyroid assist an herbal med I feel better.
My problem was chest pain. And when tests revealed no heart problems, they assumed reflux. The protonix helped the chest pain, so I assumed they were right and was grateful for the relief. But now I have questions. I'm also a few months off of pain meds so it's possible that the side effects were there all along and being masked by the pain meds. Look, I know doctors have their pat answers, but in my 54 years of experience, anything is possible.
I drove straight home and lay down. I started reading all the material I could find about heart palpitations, arrhythmia and so forth. There is a lot of conflicting material. I read it all. The following Monday, I got up from lying down on my left side propped up on my elbow and had another looooong heart palpitation.
In addition to a great deal of shortness of breath and fatigue, I also began to experience significant heart palpitations, extreme lightheadedness and near fainting spells. On one occasion, I went to the ER and 1 1/2 hours after I was laying on the floor, my heart rate on the EKG was only 40 bpm. After an echocardiogram, a stress test and a CT angiogram, I was diagnosed with non-specific palps and vasovagal reaction. I was also treated wtih GERD meds, singulair and inhalers.
m wondering if the whole acid reflux/hiatal hernia is putting pressure on my heart or vagus nerve thus causing the palpitations. Is it worth going to a gastro Dr for further testing about this theory?
I have acid reflux and take protonix occassionally when needed...recently I had a bad scare where I suddenly starting gasping for air...I have had similar attacks in the past, but this one was major as I felt like I would stop gasping....There was no warning before the attack....It did subside...Is this common with acid reflux and what do I do when this happens? I did over indulge with food over the holidays...I am not over weight and I do exercise..
I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
24 hr tape showed no abnormality, some supraventricular ectopics(which i never felt), but was told thats normal. I have had palpitations on and off for years, but usually only related to stress/hormonal times in month, alcohol. They were a bit more frequent towards end of last year, hence the ECG.
Anyway, cardiologist has seen results, and ruled out any serious causes of short pr interval(I was terrifeid it was WPW at first, but he sees no sign of that).
No wasnt xanax pulse was low before that maybe the other did it tho thanks tho...Nexium protonix and zantac done it. Probly I guess ill go back and see the doc even tho he told me i had a heart blockage and didnt cardiac cath after he told me my stress test was blockage and i was clear. Hmm maybe that did it caridac cath...
I just finished a 5 day z pack that was prescribed for a sinus infection that was giving me severe headaches. My heart started to feel funny and I looked at the insert which said could cause irregular hearbeats. I've taken this medication in the past with no issue. I do not have any cardiac disease but I do smoke, should I just wait for about 5 days to see if once the meds are out of my system I'm ok, or should I go see a doctor or go to the ER?
I only went thru chemo for 6 sessions, but I too suffered horrific heartburn and reflux. I literally thought at first that I was having a heart attack. It was a pain that I had never experienced before. I had to be very careful what I ate, and I was put on protonix, 40 mg, and that seemed to help me. Good Luck to you. God Bless.

Hi. I also have had heart palpitations. I talked with the doctor and she said probably is nothing, but they are going to check the thyroid hormonea..they can increase during pregnancy and cause palpitations, but i even if it is the case she said not to worry, it is nothing complicated, maybe some supplements to get them under control. Ask your doctor, but don't worry. Good luck!
My son is 18 and started having heart palpitations and chills tonight. He also has a headache. He can't relax because this is bothering him so much. He does have a doctors appt tomorrow at 11:15am. Any suggestions to calm the palpitations?
