protonix and hair loss

m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.

I am wondering if long term protonix use has been linked to joint and muscle pain as well as hearing loss. I have been taking proton pump inhibitors for 18 years and have just begun hearing about bone loss and other issues. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia after finally seeing a doctor about the pain that I have endured for over 10 years.

I started this the same time as my 2x daily protonix. After and during weight lifting it feels as though I cant breathe and have to sit down, then I belch for like 5 minutes. At the end it takes 2-3 hours before my stomach feels 'normal' again and I can actualy eat anything. I also have a hard time breathing due to this feeling of 'gas' in my upper stomach. I have had two endoscopies done with them saying my z-line (sphincter muscle?) was abnormal.

I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Have you tried switching to Levoxyl? When I started on Levoxyl 14 years ago I never experienced any hair loss. When I switched to Synthroid my hair fell out for 5 months. It's been 6 months now and just in the past month have I a noticed a distinct decrease in the amount. I can now comb my hair after washing it without losing more than 2 or 3 where as before it was 200-300!! I don't know if the medicine makes a difference but I thought I'd put that out there.

I also started having memory problems and stuttering trying to find words two weeks before the EEG was done, which also started after the finger thing feeling in the hair and brain and the loss of focus. these last 10 to 15 minutes. The ones with blind spots are usually only there 1 to 3 minutes. I have been to 2 neurologist and they can't seem to come to a decision. First one did a EEG and said I had a focal over left and right temporal lobe with the left being the worst, MRI was normal.

Acid reflux is not considered heartburn. I had so bad first pregnancy that I lost 70lbs and felt terrible all the way through. This pregnancy I have it also not as terrible as first I'm halfway through it and I've only lost 20lbs. Protonix is what doc gave first time this time doc is giving Prilosec could be reason I'm not sure. I hope you're getting treatment for acid reflux could cause long term esophagus issues.

He wants to put me on 6 M-P but I am concerned about a weakened immune system. weight loss/gain, hair loss, and any other side effect. Do you or anyone you know take this medicine and what has it done for them? Any advice or personal stories would help!

I did some more research and found that protonix can cause a vitamin B-12 deficiency and anxiety. I called my doctor and they wrote me off right away saying the drug should be out of my system and maybe I suddenly developed anxiety (never had any issue with anxiety in my entire life) and that I should see a doctor. I started trying to fix it on my own - I was miserable.

Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds...... so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid. I have noticed mine cycles....

I have gone on diets and lost weight but usually quickly gain it and more back ever time. Plus my GERD is now not under control. Can the protonix truly be blamed for some weight gain that won't go away? I also have other things going on that might be attributed to the protonix which I have given different meds to combat. I think I need a reset. I have had numerous knee replacements all of which began from my bone fracturing under the prosthetic.

Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?

I have been to the hospital twice with two ekgs done normal and a lot of blood work normal I have bad shoulder pains leg pains arms ache and neck hurts when I drink or eat anything my chest hurts and my back hurts can stress and gets cause this I get headaches daily and the pain in shoulders and arms daily

Only in the past 20 days, hair fall has gone up. Does hair straightening dry out the hair causing lack of moisture and thus hair fall?? I truly hope that this is temporary as you mentioned!!

I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it, Check your thyroid levels That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism ) You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off

Hi Selma, I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.

I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.

I am on pepcid a.c. now and it tears my stomach up. Mmm I have an appt today so we'll see.
