Protonix and gastritis

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix and gastritis

protonix

Avatar n tn I have been using Protonix for almost a year now and it's worked great to help my Gastritis but I noticed something. Since taking it, my period comes later than it used to and for less time. I am a bit worried, is everything ok?
Avatar f tn Hi Selma, I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.
Avatar f tn I saw the surgeon and he stated that I have a hernia and also have the gastritis. They changed my medications around to protonix, questren, and carafate. I was released from the hospital on Friday. Since then I've been vomiting daily after taking the questren, and still having the pain in the stomach and the back. I have a doctor appointment today and then on Wednesday to see the general surgeon, but has anyone heard of having more issues since diagnosis.
468452 tn?1225964888 Goodeys, everyone has a different pain level tolerance. Some people never realize they have gastric problems until they're bleeding. Others, however, feel the first twinge of discomfort just as something is starting up. Remember, even mild gastritis is something like a 'scrape' on the lining of your stomach.
Avatar f tn Hi, I too had an endoscope done and was diagnosed w/ gastritis, the dr. did not tell me much info either and just gave me protonix to take for a month, took that and stopped after a month like the dr told me...the med helped a little but currently I am not on anything...my gastritis comes and goes and I've been researching info on food combining...I don't want to take meds and I've also cut out alot of foods out of my diet that make my symtoms worse...
177337 tn?1310059899 d never heard of that. My family doctor recently thought I had a case of gastritis and gave me a three week supply of Protonix - the warning sheet said nothing about arrhythmias or anything relating to heart rhythm. While on it I can't say I noticed any change in PVC frequency, and I'd only been having a few a day at that point. But while on it I did lose virtually all of my appetite, which was another symptom not mentioned in the literature.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with gastritis and given Protonix for it. The doctor at the ER told me to continue taking the medications my asthma doctor had prescribed, including Prednisone which causes bad gastritis apparently? So I am now currently on Protonix, Prednisone, Zyrtec (for my allergies), and am taking my nebulizer (albuterol for my asthma). My asthma seems to be fine, but I seem to be getting anxiety over one of the medications I am taking and I don't know which one.
Avatar n tn I started this the same time as my 2x daily protonix. After and during weight lifting it feels as though I cant breathe and have to sit down, then I belch for like 5 minutes. At the end it takes 2-3 hours before my stomach feels 'normal' again and I can actualy eat anything. I also have a hard time breathing due to this feeling of 'gas' in my upper stomach. I have had two endoscopies done with them saying my z-line (sphincter muscle?) was abnormal.
Avatar f tn I tried prilosec, nexium, prevacid and now im on protonix. The only one that worked (until a month ago) was protonix. Everyone reacts differently to different drugs even though they basicaly do the same thing. As long as your not having any pain it doesn't sound like it is getting worse but i would definatley after 18 days ask your Dr to maybe try a different PPI.
Avatar m tn My symptoms have included nausea, acid reflux (not diagnosed with GERD confirmed on EGD) , constipation, epigastric pain, indigestion, bitter taste in mouth, bloating, loss of appietite, and fullness in the upper abdomen. Symptoms have last the past two years, had gallbladder removed 1 week after the EGD and symptoms didn't improve. Mr Dr. who did the EGD is just a surgeon and didnt know why I have this and just really hasn't been helpful.
Avatar f tn Ok so I had a upper Gi test done tuesday and they found I had little gastritis of the stomach and esophagitis and that my stomach was making to much acid. I been on protonix for 2 weeks now and after every meal and bedtime I take mylanta. I still feel sick all the time. Also i have very smelly green poop??????? How long can this take sometimes. what else can i rule out? Why could I be making to much stomach acid???? Please help its been three weeks a 2 days.
Avatar m tn m pretty sure I have it myself (why I know any of this) but you basically need to only eat green veggies and organic (non antibiotic) chicken for a month and take probiotics, and hopefully that kills off the yeast overgrowth. Sugars and starches are what feed it, so you cant eat any of that.
Avatar f tn I have what I would guess is pretty severe gastritis and acid reflux. I drink ACV, take Protonix (just the past couple days), and drink Maalox which does help temporarily. I get burning in my throat and chest, reflux, nausea, sternum pain, feeling like there is something in my throat, and even back pain when it gets bad. Do those of you who have these issues also get chest tightness and the feeling of something sitting on your upper chest?
Avatar f tn It sounds to me like the lining of your stomach is damaged (gastritis). And you made the #1 mistake, you started feeling better and stopped taking the meds. More often than not you would be on omerprazole at least a month, just because you start feeling better doesnt mean you are better, it means you are STARTING to heal. Another thing to do is to not eat or drink things that irritate the stomach. Thigns like dairy, gluten, coffee, tea, tomato, garlic, onions, greasy foods, fatty foods.
Avatar n tn here we are over 7 months later and not only has the nause not resolved, but neither has the abd pain, and I have lost 20-25lbs. colonoscopy - mild divertic; endoscopy mild gastritis, bile reflux; gastric emptying test- within normal limits but possible mass on liver... recommend MRI; MRI liver cyst (bilobed); CT abd/pelvis free fluid pelvis ?
1176471 tn?1263733305 put me on protonix for a month and said to stop it and see how I do...I still have days that our worse than others..I'm trying to figure out if maybe I have a food allergy which is causing it..I also am trying to read on food combing and diet to see if that would help me...I cut out alot of foods that I think might be causing my symtoms like, onions, caffeine, spicey, fatty, fried foods, tomato based foods...I have not had a test done to check my gallbladder yet...
Avatar f tn 2abdomial CTs, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, a small bowel study, a gastric emptying test, an MRI, numerous x-rays and bloodwork --all was normal except I did show some gastritis on endoscopy and my GES was in high normal range..Removing my gallbladder didn't help my nausea at all..I was put on Carafate, Protonix and Zantac which never really helped very much...
Avatar n tn I just had an endoscopy and was given a written report but it will be a month before I see the doctor to discuss it. Can anyone help explain the results? "There was a probable 5 cm hiatal hernia." I knew I had a hiatal hernia but just want to know is 5 cm bad? "There was erosive esophagitis. LA class A." I know what erosive esophagitis is but what does "LA class A" mean? "nonerosive gastritis of the antrum" What is this?
Avatar f tn At the end of September, after having an endoscopy performed, I was Dx with severe Gastritis and given a new Rx for Protonix to be taken twice a day for 6 months which meant 60 pills/month. Being that Prilosec and Protonix are in the same drug class my insurance company has stated that I've hit my 90 tablet/90 day limit. The Protonix has finally helped with the pain and discomfort I've been having and now my insurance company won't cover it.
Avatar m tn ve tested negative for h pylori a few times, even though I have a peptic ulcer and severe, chronic, debilitating gastritis. Guess what? 90% of all ulcers and cases of chronic gastritis are caused by h pylori. This may or may not be the case with you, but def don't rule it out!
Avatar f tn It was only a days ailment and went away but now since yesterday I notice after I wake up and drink water with my pills I get this sensation that there is something in my throat and like I have trapped gas and I need to burp so I drink water and indeed I burp. I am on Protonix 1 x 40mg and I suffer from gastritis/esophagitis since 2010 but every fall and spring I am.in a flair. Any advice?
Avatar n tn Saw dr today after asking questions where he first thought maybe gallbladder, he said ulcer or gastritis and he bets gastritis. Prescribed protonix. Stook first dose about five hrs ago. Also drank some baking soda water and took pepto and its still there. Not exactly pain, just a gnawing empty feeling even tho i know im not hungry. Anyone ever have this? How long for protonix to kick in? I had nausea this morning too and vomited which is why i went to the dr. No burning really no heartburn.
Avatar f tn Regarding: Intermittant/ constant nausea for the past 3-4 years. I've had every test you can imagine- CT scan, abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds, blood tests including the gluten-intolerance one, a gastroscopy, an x-ray with barium meal. Ended up giving up finding an answer and existed on maxalon for a few years- missing way too many days of work. Anywho I am almost constantly nauseous now, usually mild, sometimes severe. i never vomit.
1030353 tn?1262485688 Did it help when you quit taking the medicine. I have acid reflux and nothing seems to help me. I've watched my diet and took medicine and now I have a sore throat and a swollen tongue. I'm deeing a ENT now. Let me know if it helped to quit taking the medicine. Good luck!
