She was prescribed 40mg of Protonix once a day. She has been taking this medication for one week, and has been experiencing dizziness and nausea. She weighs about 120 lbs. I looked online, and it appears that these are side effects that some patients experience. My question is: would Nexium pose the same problems for her?
I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
A little over a year ago I started having some stomach/colon problems. I had tons of gurgling in my stomach and colon area and a general feeling of having trapped gas/air/bloating all over. My bowel movements started changing. One day they would be shaped fine, the next day they would be kind of skinny, then one day they would be weird puzzle shapes and kind of like diarrhea, then the next day diarrhea, then back to normal. No particular order. This went on for two months.
I saw my doctor.
I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this.. So I decided to stop taking the Protonix...the last time i took it was thursday and i still feel like im in hell.... You would think I am detoxing from some other hard core drug and I havent taken anything else.. I am still so naseous, gagging, stomach pains, heart palps..and I am def not pregnant or anything like that so I cant find any other cause for all of this..
Is there anything i can do to get this medicine out of my system.
Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds......
so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid.

I was convinced this was a side effect of the birth control, and decided to ignore it for about six months. I packed up and moved to college and it got worse. I was hardly eating and lost a ton of weight, to where i became substantially underweight. I was nauseous daily, and living off of Gatorade and crackers. I had just broken up with my boyfriend and had moved away from home for the first time so I was also under a lot of stress at the time.
m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.
I have been to the hospital twice with two ekgs done normal and a lot of blood work normal I have bad shoulder pains leg pains arms ache and neck hurts when I drink or eat anything my chest hurts and my back hurts can stress and gets cause this I get headaches daily and the pain in shoulders and arms daily

I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.
I have been using Protonix for almost a year now and it's worked great to help my Gastritis but I noticed something. Since taking it, my period comes later than it used to and for less time. I am a bit worried, is everything ok?
I have adhesions (scar tissue) from gallbladder surgery, pain pretty much 24/7 under my right rib. I had my gallbladder removed 9 yrs. ago, and with that I got IBS w/ severe diarrhea (pain and fatigue, alot of acid). I take Questran (generic Cholestrymine) 1 tsp. w/ water at bed (One package can be to binding and constipate.), It binds bile and stops my diarrhea. If I don't take this at bedtime. The next morning, no matter what I put in my mouth I will have diarrhea.
m on Vancomycin Hydrochloride 250 mg 4 times for 10 days to clear up the havoc the clindamycin did on my digestive system. I also was just prescribed Protonix 40 mg once a day and I also take Zoloft 50 mg once a day and Ativan .5 mg as needed. I was prescribed both the Zoloft and Ativan when my cardiac came back clear but I was still having symptoms.
This all started 2 months ago with the jaw, chest pressure and left arm pain.
I can go maybe two days with medication such as Imodium and lomotil, and then by the third day I have chronic diarrhea, it will usually last most of the night and day. It is very runny diarrhea, I have to wear depends underwear all the time and sometimes that doesn't even help. The odor of the diarrhea is very bad, and almost like the smell of acid are something. It has become a handicap to me. The next day I will be so weak, I just lay around, and try to get my strength back.
I have acid reflux and take protonix occassionally when needed...recently I had a bad scare where I suddenly starting gasping for air...I have had similar attacks in the past, but this one was major as I felt like I would stop gasping....There was no warning before the attack....It did subside...Is this common with acid reflux and what do I do when this happens? I did over indulge with food over the holidays...I am not over weight and I do exercise..
I started this the same time as my 2x daily protonix. After and during weight lifting it feels as though I cant breathe and have to sit down, then I belch for like 5 minutes. At the end it takes 2-3 hours before my stomach feels 'normal' again and I can actualy eat anything. I also have a hard time breathing due to this feeling of 'gas' in my upper stomach.
I have had two endoscopies done with them saying my z-line (sphincter muscle?) was abnormal.

s not only uncomfortable but embarrassing to be bloated and gassy almost every day. How long should I be on the Protonix, and should I be taking anything else to help ease the constipation? Before starting the Protonix I was fairly regular and my diet hasn't changed much, if at all, so I can't imagine any other reason for this. My doctor never indicated a length of time for taking it, he only listed refills on the bottle.
I went to the ER for massive pain in the Solar Plexus region during the time when I was basically over the diarrhea and getting back to normal again. I have had an MRI and contrast CT scan. Appendicitis and Pancreatitis was ruled out by various doctors. They scanned every organ in my abdomen. Nothing. The ER said to go see a Gastroenterologist. A couple of weeks ago I had an Upper Endoscopy of the stomach and duodenum. I have had on and off upper abdominal pain for a month and a half.
