I only started taking protinix 8 days ago and have had horrible stomach pain. Back in October my Gastro doc did an endoscopy and results were esophagitis; basically inflammation and several small ulcers. He described aciphex. My insurance initially said they didn't cover it, but the dr sent over an authorization & I was told it was good for one year. First two months my copay was $75 but in January when I went to p/u @ pharmacy I was told it was $480.
s unlikely you can handle the problem by simply adding a magnesium supplement, since your blood pressure has always been low. Adding magnesium could tend to make the blood pressure drop even more. Hopefully there will be other ways, besides taking Nexium, that your acid reflux symptoms can be addressed. FWIW, I was on Prilosec for years, finally had to stop because of the side effects, and now am off of it with no problems.

I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.
I have been to the hospital twice with two ekgs done normal and a lot of blood work normal I have bad shoulder pains leg pains arms ache and neck hurts when I drink or eat anything my chest hurts and my back hurts can stress and gets cause this I get headaches daily and the pain in shoulders and arms daily
I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
I have acid reflux and take protonix occassionally when needed...recently I had a bad scare where I suddenly starting gasping for air...I have had similar attacks in the past, but this one was major as I felt like I would stop gasping....There was no warning before the attack....It did subside...Is this common with acid reflux and what do I do when this happens? I did over indulge with food over the holidays...I am not over weight and I do exercise..
No wasnt xanax pulse was low before that maybe the other did it tho thanks tho...Nexium protonix and zantac done it. Probly I guess ill go back and see the doc even tho he told me i had a heart blockage and didnt cardiac cath after he told me my stress test was blockage and i was clear. Hmm maybe that did it caridac cath...
Possibilities that may need to be considered include GI infections/ inflammations, URT infection/ inflammation, GERD, low blood pressure, low blood pressure, neuro-muscular causes, growths/ masses, hormonal/ endocrine abnormalities, chest wall inflammation, causes related to the cardiovascular system/ respiratory tract etc.
Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds......
so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid.

About 2 month ago, I started having bad stomach pain, with pins anf needles sensation, and pain radiating through back. I went to see family doc and he did blood test to rule out pancreatitis (result came back normal), and put me on Protonix 40mg, once a day. I took for couple of weeks, and felt ok, so stopped, but pain would come back, so went back on it couple of days later. The bottle had 30pills, and one refill.
s not only uncomfortable but embarrassing to be bloated and gassy almost every day. How long should I be on the Protonix, and should I be taking anything else to help ease the constipation? Before starting the Protonix I was fairly regular and my diet hasn't changed much, if at all, so I can't imagine any other reason for this. My doctor never indicated a length of time for taking it, he only listed refills on the bottle.
why would my doctor perscribe protonix to me when it is for bloodpressure? i have a thyroid problem....
I wanted to add I've had 2 scopes, ct scan, blood work to rule out celiac disease and B12 issues, ultra sound. They cant find nothing other than hernia. However my Gastro DR says no way my hernia is causing this issue. Im on Pepcid, Carafate, GI cocktail, and protonix.
i have major depressive disorder, dysthimic disorder, and panic disorder. i am on 10 mg lisinopril daily (blood pressure), klonopin 1 mg 3 x daily, pristiq 50 mg daily, lyrica 200 mg daily, protonix 40 mg daily, and 7.5/325 mg of norco 3 x daily. I've never had performance issues until a few days ago with a new relationship that i dont want to **** up because she is a very positive and awesome person. im freaking out about being 26 yrs old and having performance issues.
Im back on the PPI protonix as it flared up again. this time it is different as i am finding blood in stool, my stomach is really bloated and i also have a hard spot in the middle of my stomach above my belly button. The protonix is not working as well as it did 2 years ago. I am slightly anemic but doctor said i was born with it and it is not significant. I also have been having bouts of fatigue.
I have been using Protonix for almost a year now and it's worked great to help my Gastritis but I noticed something. Since taking it, my period comes later than it used to and for less time. I am a bit worried, is everything ok?
