I lost my hair (approx 50%) in April this year. No regrowth yet, just some on the sides. It appears to be coming in "miniaturized", or skinny. When did the hair start to regrow, and did it also appear "miniaturized"?
Hello when i was 16 (male) i didn't wash my hair often.After around 6 months i could see my scalp.Taking a closer look it appeared red and the hair was thinning especially in the mid scalp region.I could also scratch some white crust with my nail.I had moderate itching.After some months i had extreme itching and a burning sensation like ants crawling and i could sense warmth.The scalp was really red so i went to dermatologist.I think he said i had pytiriasis.
Once you are on the proper therapeutic dose of meds, your hair will start to regrow. Keep in mind that your body has a lot of healing to do after being hypo for a time. Hair is not the body's priority. Your essential systems will heal first. Also, once on the proper dose, it often takes time for the symptoms to go away.
What is your TSH and FT4 (and its reference range) currently?
For iron deficiency, they need to check ferritin levels (stored iron) and it should be at least 50 to stop hairloss and I read up to 70 to regrow hair. Is she taking vitamins - you have to be careful with those also. Hope these posts help you. I did a search recently that eluded to Prednisone being capable of regrowing hair IF the cause is from an infection. I know Prednisone can regrow hair if the cause is bacterial or fungal... I don't know if it's capable if it's viral?

im pretty sure there is no link between hair loss and masturbation, because wouldnt that mean that sex causes hair loss? you dont say whether your a girl or boy but im thinking ur a boy. u also dont say if you've been to the doctors. stress can cause hair loss so i hope your not stressing yourself out? because that can cause anxiety which is really nasty.
I have the exact same problem, I have a few small bald spots like that and they seem to appear after the pimple that was there has crusted over and I scratched it off, im just worried the hair won't regrow? As soon as i found out the reason of hair fall, i quit masturbation and want to know that quitting masturbation regrow hair again or i have to do some other efforts and how much time it takes to regrow. My hair is falling out in clumps. I don't damage my hair what so ever. I wash ig, let it air dry, and pull it back in a pony tail. I'm so concerned. I spend my whole shower trying to get the hair off of me. I take my vitamins everyday. I called and a women told me to discuss this with my doctor at my next appointment and that he would probably wanna run lab work. I'm scared I'm gonna be bald by the time my baby girl is born !
