Avatar f tn What is the proper propranolol dosage in order to prevent the symptoms associated with anxiety-provoking situations?
1243620 tn?1274794297 Of course everyone is different so some people may require higher doses to combat the symptoms, but if anxiety is affecting your daily life I highly recommend speaking to your doctor about giving propranolol a try. They give you the confidence to get on with life and stop avoiding certain situations.
Avatar n tn can i take 5mg diazepam and 10mg propranolol together and what is the best dosage to work effectively for panic attacks and anxiety when public speaking?
Avatar m tn Hi, I was prescribed Inderal LA by my GP a few years ago for public speaking and have been using in on/off for nearly 5 years now. They have always been 80mg tablets, so it surprises me that some people on here say 80mg is a very high dose. I only take inderal LA about once or twice a month, although it is often 2x80mg... I have returned to the GP for several repeat prescriptions and have also bought inderal over the internet.
Avatar f tn I am a graduate student. I have a fear of public speaking and a stage/performance fear when I speak in front of new people or students of my class. A few of my classes require that I give powerpoint presentations in front of the class. When I am on the spot, my voice and hands become shaky - I sometimes lose concentration to the point that I cannot get words out of my mouth even though I go in front of the class very well prepared.
Avatar n tn Low dosage beta blockers (I'm guessing your propranolol is low dosage as well) are pretty safe. A lot of folks take propranolol to reduce anxiety for public speaking, etc. I'd tend to agree that they aren't a cure for PVCs based on my personal experience. I think they are more for just helping one to cope better... I saw you were going to try the Taurine/L-arginine supplements. Please do report back. Just FYI, I'm doing 1G L-arginine (nightly) and 2G Taurine (split AM/PM).
Avatar f tn With medication, the same ones are used for all three with the exception of the propanolol, which is only usually helpful for social anxiety or public speaking fears. Because it affects the heart, if you do try it, make sure your psychiatrist explains it.
1298588 tn?1330322581 I know people who play musical instruments and take the occasional beta blocker to calm their nerves on an event night. I myself use to be scared of speaking up in public and standing up in front of people and it affected me until i got sick of it, signed up to a stand up comedy class and just did it.
Avatar n tn If your anxiety is such that you have this problem all the time and it is related to anxiety and not an alcoholic drink, then by all means, consider a beta blocker but if it is just a rash that comes and goes when you go out for a drink or get excited, think it through really carefully.
9662954 tn?1405609759 The symptoms of early cirrhosis many times can be managed at least to some degree with medications. For example portal hypertension is normally treated with propranolol, nadolol to reduce the blood pressure and prevent varices from bleeding. A proper diet and healthy lifestyle are important for people with cirrhosis if they want to have the best prognosis and help the liver to heal as much as possible. All of these issues can ONLY be addressed by doctors at a liver transplant center.
Avatar f tn GP put me on citalopram which I went along w/ just to be cooperative, and propranolol to help regulate what he viewed as anxiety-induced tachy. Did not seem to find it significant that symptoms did not occur during periods of actual mental anxiety. Said it might be pheochromocytoma, but that he wouldn't bother testing as that's so rare. Ashamed to say I didn't and still haven't actually demanded said testing.
451975 tn?1372332199 I ended up being sent back to my original hospital when in the ambulance, the whole episode started again. It was like that, back and forth, speaking, drooling, paralysis until the next day around noon. Again, every test was done (MRI, CT scan), 3 times, looking for the cause. I am now much better and not needing nearly the amount of gravol that I used to but I cannot drive because I have lost my depth perception, ability to judge speed or distance, and am clumsy.
Avatar f tn I think you need to let your doctor know that the Lexapro isn't working, you may need a dosage increase or change of medication. You obviously has anxiety issues, which need to be addressed.
Avatar n tn Hi, dwc--I'm sorry I have not been too responsive lately--My wife and I decided to take a few days off. Let me start by telling you that I went through the whole heart event process (seven days)--I returned the monitor the day before I went on vacation and I am going to make an appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow to discuss the results.
Avatar n tn I've had a blood test and Xrays on my lungs and nothing was wrong. the doctor just said 'anxiety' and gave me some 40mg propranolol to take 3 times a day. I find it helps sometimes if i am out and take the pills, but i dont really feel any improvement with these drugs. I'm sure this is a psychological thing, perhaps severe anxiety. I'm 23 year old male entrepreneur abroad, so do suffer some stress but i would say i was happy with the way things were going.
503727 tn?1210442710 But have you ever noticed that even in the middle of the worse anxiety attack, if your in public with friends or something, you will aways excuse yourself properly before running off? I notice I do that, it's weird. Some may not, I dunno. The most important thing is that you are not alone and you are not crazy! This is a real problem, just as real as someone with diabetes or something. Do you ever get full blown panic attacks?
Avatar n tn I find it ironic that I take a seizure medication for migraines. I'm no longer scared about driving, being alone, or that I'll convulse in public. One of the side effects of Zonegran is weight loss, which improved the symptoms of my other neurological disorder, Psuedotumor Cerebri. This was causing blindess, but I had an Optic Nerve Sheath Decompression on my right eye to drain excess fluid.
Avatar n tn He prescribed me some Beta Blockers, Propranolol 40 mg tablets, have only been taking these for 2 days so am unsure if they are going to work!! Often wake up in the middle of the night feeling tightness across the chest and sometimes I feel like I have an armband around the biceps of both arms, like I said very frightening.
