Avatar f tn What is the proper propranolol dosage in order to prevent the symptoms associated with anxiety-provoking situations?
Avatar f tn If it is necessary to discontinue propranolol, its dosage should be reduced gradually over several weeks. Talk to your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn i have been put on beta blockers propranolol 40 mg three times a day for benign ventricular ectopic beats and anxiety. im just not sure what times i should take them. how many hours do i need to wait to take another.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar f tn I have been on 10 mg of propranolol 2x a day for 3 months for (POTS) Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia and I have a anxiety disorder that has been totally out of control again. My doctor wants me to go on 10mg lexapro I am very afraid of medication and was wondering whats the best time to take this medication morning or night and can you take these two together.
Avatar f tn After doing some research on the internet, I understand that propranolol will only relieve the anxiety symptoms (trembling voice and shaky hands) but will not relieve the anxiety itself - I understand that xanax will give some relief to the anxiety itself - so that's probably why my doctor prescribed both medicines. I will keep u posted on what happens during the presentation.
10610562 tn?1411418414 So, I am a 29 year old male. 5'7" 130lbs. I was put on propranolol to reduce the heart rate, as well to possible help with my anxiety and panic. This medication worked really well for me. It helped ease my mind, enough to where I felt more comfortable leaving the house and being productive. It completely got rid of my embarrassingly shaky hands. I was so happy. Then, I noticed my asthma was being severely effected.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
Avatar n tn can i take 5mg diazepam and 10mg propranolol together and what is the best dosage to work effectively for panic attacks and anxiety when public speaking?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PSVTs 5 years ago at age 35. I take 10mg of propranolol daily and it has worked just fine to keep the arrhythmia at bay. Lately I have been trying to run a little faster when I exercise, and I am wondering if a medication adjustment might be in order. I am not trying to do anything crazy; I just want to run a 5K in less than 30 minutes. About 20 minutes in, my heartrate gets to the high 170s.
Avatar m tn I saw my Cardiogist 2 weeks ago, he look at my last holter monitor results and said it was anxiety and said that I may have dysautonomia but probably cause of the anxiety... I was stable on 10 mg x 3 of propranolol day for the last 7 months but the tachycardia was not under control at all... He suggest to RX 25 mg x 2 day of metoprolol. I start taking the metoprolol 2 weeks ago. I feel awful! Not only its not helping the tachycardia, but it make my anxiety worse.
Avatar n tn Hi I was prescribed propranolol for anxiety and I took 20mg at night but couldnt sleep at all then took another 10mg about 5 hrs later which seemed to make me feel worse I had chest tightness and difficulty breathing can this dosage affect my heart in a negative way, the chest tightness eased now but im still worried and I dont plan on taking the med again, please advive
Avatar f tn Propanolol is given for a variety of reasons to include anxiety, tremors, migraines, high BP, angina and others. It can cause some odd feelings when first starting it. I don't understand this being prescribed to you for your symptoms. The Codamol is a pain reliever, but it soundsa like you needed an antibiotic. I doubt that you would be feeling any effects after two weeks from these two drugs but we never know.
Avatar f tn ve gone from happy to anxious 24/7. Do you know what triggered your anxiety or is it just a generalised anxiety? I find that medication doesn't help me either, I take propranolol for fast heart rate and shakiness which it does remove these things but the actual anxiety still remains, I find that distraction is the only thing that works for me, like looking cleaning, reading , walking, although some days nothing seems to help and I cannot focus all day!
Avatar f tn Give the medication more time, it's already showing some results. Don't ever play around with the dosage it's very dangerous. If after a week you don't see any change than ask your doctor what to do, he knows best. I hope it helps with the blushing and take care.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar f tn my question is, has anyone taken this propranolol (20mg once a day) for anxiety problems? and does anyone think increasing the paxil will help at all for me? ps, ive had anxiety since i was young, but it started to increase about 1 month 1/2 ago when i woke up in the morning and took a shower and the room started spinning and passed out. scariest moment of my life, they said it was vasovagal and all my blood work and so on was normal. but, yeah i knew since that day my anxiety would be worse.

Avatar n tn hi there i have just started propranolol to combat anxiety and usually get heart palpitations but have noticed i have had more palps since being on the meds plus feeling really brethless, does anyone have the same problem or any advice? thanx.
Avatar f tn I've been on Propranolol for HBP, Tachycardia and Anxiety for 3 weeks. Before Taking the drug, my BPs were always around 140-150 systolic and 85-90 diastolic and my pulse hung around 100. After 3 weeks of taking Propranolol, my blood pressure remained about the same but my pulse had gone down to around 70. MY question is: Can a non-selective beta-blocker reduce pulse but not blood pressure.
Avatar f tn When I told him I was suffering from a pulse visible in my eye, he prescribed propranolol (3 10mg doses a day, 8am, 2pm, 8pm) for me. That drug didn't reduce my blood pressure effectively enough so I was placed on Lisinopril (10mg once daily at 8am) just last week. As I attempted to gradually reduce my propranolol dose I experienced tachycardia, so, after consulting an ER doctor, resumed my regular dosage. I am due to see my pediatrician this thursday.
Avatar n tn have adha on 40mg vyvanse good blood presure put on propranolol 10 mg 2 times a day why
Avatar f tn t wish to add more meds on top. The propranolol seems like a good idea if it will target isolated anxiety producing events that trigger this ED or other panic type symptoms. I'm sorta hopeful that propranolol itself will help me push past this occasional sex performance anxiety. Still want to run it by my GP though. As far as talk therapy I have never done it at the analysis level and it's generally me doing the talking. I'm a guitarist too. Hail Fripp.
Avatar n tn This was following the doubling of my propranolol dosage, however not as an immediate effect. I was not aware this could be an issue so, I was not hypervigilent to monitor - the blood work was done maybe 12-24 months following the dosage increase. Sure wish I had been aware of this danger- I would have made sure to have my levels monitored more frequently AND requested a change in medication- now I am left dealing an avoidable health situation.
