Avatar m tn I'm a runner and recently got a pain on top of foot, as if my laces were too tight 9they may have been!) recently been doing a lot of off road running on uneven hard surface. it seems to be in the Extensor Hallucis Brevis area and there is a squashy lump the size of a smallish coin in that area, which isn't really painful to touch. If I loosen my laces in that area I can walk and do a bit of running without too much discomfort.

I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.

If there's weightloss, I can usually see it in my face and upper body, however my problem areas are my abdomen, obliques and thighs.

It started as a small ache in my mid toes, then kind of gradual pain which spread to my ball and now it's gone to the heel and ankles. I haven't done any high impact running or anything, and shoes are proper fit.
