The very best mucolytic I have found (and no side effects whatsoever) is vitamin B5. Try taking 500 mg daily. That will probably work. I take 1000 because I have chronic bronchitis. If exercise induced asthma perhaps the pro-air is helping before you exercise .. not really sure. Maybe a different type of dual inhaler may work better w/o side effects ... just my two cents Welcome!

Although it can cause nervousness and many other ill side effects, bad temper does not seem to be one of them. The temper could stem from the asthma itself...because she is 6 she is still trying to find ways to express feelings, pain, etc. It's possible that she's acting this way because she's feeling nervous from the medication or from the asthma itself...remember that it's a scary thing not being able to breath.

I was prescribed Ventolin HFA and Asmanex. I took these medications and had a lot of side effects from both medications. The side effects felt worse than the actual symptoms. I continued taking the Asmanex and did not really notice any difference in my breathing which further leads me to believe that I may not have asthma. Hi, I am a 43 year old female and was put on Advair over 1 yr ago. I have never had any Asthma attaks but was having tightness of breath and feeling i wasn't getting enough air and could barely walk. I never had any allergy or Asthma problems my entire life. After i was put on Advair my breathing problems became worse. I started having more problems with my health. I couldn't breath out of my nose and i constantly had a drip down my throught.

I would like to limit the amount of medication that I inhale or take due to possible side effects, so if anyone knows of any remedy that might treat this burning sensation, then please reply back to me.

Advair is only a maintence drug which will only help you over time but it is not an emergency inhaler (like ventolin or proair). Advair if not taken as prescribed can make things worse and can make you very ill. Please never take more than the 4 puffs per day. Anxiety can do really bizarre things to people. It can make you feel like you are sufficating.

Im just a little concerned because i used it once so far, and i know that sometimes the side effects can be really severe (ive been having REALLY bad drowsiness, but thats just annoying not much of a big deal) but it also seemed that the inhaler actually made my chest pains worse. It just made it seem like i had this huge gulp of air caught in my chest.. like i needed to burp but couldnt make it come out.

If I have had a severe Asthma attack my rib cage is sore, usually on the left side near the inner side of my ribs by my breast. I also have coughed so hard I have cracked my ribs. I found using a warn heating pad helps after about 15 minutes. So you are not alone, but I would mention it to you Dr. to be on the safe side. I hope this has helped you.

Just for the record, corticosteroids can have very serious side effects. They can cause systemic candidiasis and adrenal dysfunction. Steroids almost did me in. In their place I turned to natural anti-inflammatories. No side effects.

Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.

In July I thought I was having allergy problems. Turned out to be pneumonia. I thought I was ok after meds. Then I had a really bad asthma attack. I did not know what was happening. Really bad coughing and hard to breathe. Went to ER and they gave me breathing meds. I saw an allergist yesterday and he put me on Adviair and Proair. I haven't had the Proair prescriptioin filled yet as I still have proventil. Sorry to ramble on.
